Thread: Phase 3 combat is impossible, but...

Yes I know it can be done, but...

I almost soloed it, bring down shield, get killed, sneak back, wait for sith to dissappear, pull out commander, blah blah blah. Not being a Doctor to buff myself, I was easily killed on way back by single Sith spawning on top of me killing me in about 3 seconds. With better armor and buffs (After getting killed after dropping shields) I could have easily finished it, I have no doubt.

My point on impossible is, it is impossible to fight your way into that base. I counted about 50 Sith thugs with 50k HAM while I was sneaking in/out.They came in packs of 10 or so every minute and a half. I'd be doing good if I could kill 1 in that time constantly shooting him, not counting the excessive damage they do back.

I don't believe a single person has completed this mission as it was intended. All those that say it is great are the ones that did what I did. Use cheats / bugs to get their way in and out again. Those of you having problems, read the posts about dropping shields then getting killed to get Sith to despawn, it really works great. Those of you trying to complete mission as it seems to beintended, bring a lot of high powered friends that don't mind getting killed a lot.

However

If this mission is intended to be done by the shield dropper getting killed so Sith despawn, its a great mission! Using strategy over brawn to overcome. But does anyone really think thats how it was intended to work? Do you really think it will work that way next time Phase 3 comes around?

I could be wrong.I will admit this mission is probably a move in the right direction, just way to difficult for the average player.

this mission can be done as it was intended with groups of three and four players. i know because i did it in a group of three and then again right afterwards with a group of four. No BUGS no EXPLOITS no CHEATING. no one died after dropping the shields...

you are WRONG if you think you think they intended you to fight your way through 50 - 50k HAM Sith. that is why they put so many there. to PROVE THE POINT that not everything in the game can be muscled. some missions take brain power.

we pulled the sith one at a time. killed the 5 ONE AT A TIME! and then ran in as a group pulled ALL the sith away, running like CRAZY and one person went and got the commander.

NO huge battle between sith and a large over-powered group. just tactics, strategy, planning and thought.

Shield dropper doesn't have to die at all, I did it with one other person. He dropped the shields. We pulled thugs one at a time until we killed 5. He distracted the thugs at the entrance while I ducked in and got the commander. No deaths. I helped two other friends complete it the same way. No deaths. You're right, a stand up toe to toe with teh thugs seems night impossible, but you don't ahve to base your strategy around sacrificing someone to the thugs.

Well I guess I was doing something wrong then, not suprising there.

Don't you think "pulling" one at a time is kind of silly?

Sith guy 1> So hows it going?

Sith guy 2> Just fine.

** Sith guy 3 gets hit with bleed **

Sith guy 3 aggros, doesn't tell his friends he was just shotand rushes to his death.

Sith guy 1> What happend to #3?

Sith guy 2> Don't know.

** Sith guy 2 get hit with bleed **

Sith guy 2 repeats what #3 did.

Sith guy 1> So what are you doing later?

-- No response because his friends are dead and he never noticed --

** Sith guy 1 gets hit with bleed **

etc...

Still using strange bugs in the game to get what you want done, just not shield dropper getting killed. I'm not implying what you did was wrong,I use conceal shot with a T21 all the time and think its just as lame. I just think its silly to have to resort to stuff like this just to make a mission possible.

BTW, good going and thanks for letting me know I was somewhat wrong. It just looked so ridiculous that after I tried I have no interest in even attempting again even though I was mostly successful.

I like the idea, that it can be done by groups of three and four, BUT...
WHY IS IT THAT ONLY TWO GET THEIR UNLOCKS THEN?!
Our guild, at least the five of us with the glow, did the quest, we worked hard and effectively, alas, only our leader got the unlock, since he was the point-man doing the objectives - we don't give a flying BOROAUEUF about the mind crystal, we just want our unlock that we deserve for doing the quest, but nooo.

Ive argued that it's silly how only two can get rewards for a mission requiring more players, CSRs have yet to reply, this was a week ago - it's still silly.

I'd rather see it like this:

Siththug 1> So hows it going?

Siththug 2> Just fine.

** Siththug 3 gets hit with my trusty CDEF pistol**

Siththug 1> What is that fool doing to #3?

Siththug 2> Hell if I knew, but I'll tell ya this much,I pity the fool that messes with #3. Lets get him guys.

** all Siththugs that notice me hitting Sith thug 3(are in range) with my CDEF aggros**

**me starts running away, 'cause 5-25 thugs hurt ALOT**

**me keeps running for a while**

Siththug 1>Bah this fool aint stopping. Well I guess we taught him a lesson. I'm heading back guys.

Sith Thugs 2-24> Sounds about right to us, we'd rather be hanging out at the base if there be any more fools that would like to have a whoopin'

Sith thug 25> Oh no, no way i'm letting this weasel of so lightly, I mean he hit #3 with a friggen CDEF. Im gonna keep at it.

Sith Thugs 2-24> Ah well, knock yerself out.

**Sith Thugs 2-24 goes back to base and huddles up**

**me stops, grins and switches to a pair of VK's**

**me whoops #25 upsidedown, backandforth and in the middle(insert random Batman tv-series fight special effect text)**

**me repeats**

On a more serious note:

  • Yes, this quest is hard // a nice change from the monotone "quests" that have plauged the rest of the phases

  • Yes, I finished the quest with 1(one) friend on the first try

  • No, either one of us died //even though neither one of us has any medical skill whatsoever

  • Yes, I really liked this quest // I actually enjoy a challenge in my games. Ever heard of such craziness before??

  • Yes, we had alot of luck, but mostly it all came down to planning your moves and NOT stressing through the mission just to get back to the nevereverending grind

Go to one of the base locations listed in these forums, like Alpha Zeta Zed etc.. Different for each server. Between 200 and 500m will be groups of Sith, look out for the Sith Thugs they are bad news. Kill the sith and get a shield frequency disk from looting them. Take the disk back to Captain at Village and he gives you a shield take down device for a named base. Look back at base waypoints listed in posts here for your server and find the WP for your specific base.

Alternate, look on Bazaar for a shield frequency disk or disabler device.

Good luck

Look at the logic on this. First of all the dev's have not yet fixed the shield downer death problem, why, because it is not a problem, it is a trick. Do you think that with all of us posting about it and talking about how easy this mission can be that they would just leave a "backdoor" if it was unintentional. NO.

Then why leave it you ask? Why not? Think like a dumb sith thug. I killed the only person that was a threat to my base, so I leave. I dont know there are others or that some may even be in the base, no, I know i killed the threat time to go home. Think about it that way. They are only doing what some soldiers would do, attack the threat, go back to the other duties. That is why they despawn. That is why there is a hole in the system. I think the devs gave us this one because the system is difficult, but there should be a few "shortcuts" if you can find them. This gives all those complaining crafters a chance to use their brains and not their weapons. Those are just my thoughts.

minus the cdef (i used headshot3 - NOT mindshot2 - headshot three) and ran until only one aggro was left. SURE i could have used the 'strange bug' of the bleed only pulling one mob at a time...but honestly i did not think of it at the time.

again this quest can be done as intended it is just must harder than a brute force mission.

i would agree with you if it were not for one major flaw in this theory.

if the Shield Dropper dies, not only do you get an on screen message that the mission has failed, but if you look in your quest crystal, it will tell you you failed the mission as well.

that is not a trick, it is a bug that needs to be fixed

I completely agree. With my guild, I also did this quest in much the same way without anyone with an official task dying (one time someone helping us bit it...but he said he hit the wrong key or something, at the wrong time...).

And ultimately it was fun to help each other out. I wish there were more tasks to reward teamwork in this game. Im not sayng I want to turn everything into a situation where teamwork is required, but let's face it, the current game often punnishes teamwork. As others said, the game could easily have let more than 2 people get credit for taking part in the task. Perhaps there could have been 4 or 5 parts rather than just two, but only 2 required to count as a team. They just could have given more options to people about how to do the task, and how they want to team up to do it.

Anyway those of you getting frustrated, rethink your strategy and see if you cant find some friends who would enjoy helping out. There are few new adventures in the game and this is one of them, and for a limited time only. I'm sure people will be glad to help, even players you've never met before.
