I've been reading a few posts about how people spend alot of time banking the xp and never really train until they have all the necessary xp to fill every box in a branch, several branches, or even ALL branches. Personally, what I do is train a new box every time I have the xp to train it (ie. I don't bank it till the end). This way I can reap the benefits (or lack there of erhem, persuasion) right away and use them to my advantage during the grinding process but at the same time re-allocating my SP to put into these FS skills.
On the other hand I can see the advantages of just unlocking a branch and banking all the xp because you can hold onto SP along the way (perhaps allocated to profs that make the grind easier already). I've come to a point where I was 'thinking' about doing this because I'd like to learn more non-fs skills but the SP iscurrently being taken up by FS skills.
So I'm posting this to get some insight from both sides and try to get some enlightenment for the grind ahead...

I can get xp faster than i can unlock so I have 1 full branch of FS combat xp banked up for when I unlock it.
Right now my skills are:
TKM
Commando 3000
Scout 0040 (for meat money)
Artisan 0002 (for resource money)
Combat Prowess 4440 (the "0" is not unlocked)
Enhanced Reflexes 0002 (working on the survival line right now.)
My FS temp. is
Master Combat Prowess
Enhanced Reflexes 4004
I will unlock the Melee Speed line in Combat Prowess during phase 2 and the ranged defense line in Enhanced Reflexes during phase 3.
To answer your question, I train what I can, then bank anything after that.

Banking. Don't have enough SP's to be using them up.

Getting the FS XP is a double edged sword...
Bankers see no rewards for their grinding and thus it can become rather disillusioning to them since they're not seeing those boxes fill up. Makes it seem worse than it actually is sometimes.
This is the way i did mine, i banked all the xp and then trained up everything at once.
On the other hand, the pro to banking the xp is you can keep your template and not give up anything to complete the grind. This is the reason i did it this way. I wanted to ensure i had the best advantage to myself to get through the grind. This is the way i'm doing it again for my friends account.
Box Fillers see immediate rewards for their efforts. In the form of a new box filled. It's a visual stimulant that helps keep hopes high and efforts get redoubled as they see the amount of boxes they need to fill up lessened with each trip or so to the village. This is a really good way to keep morale high in yourself while playing.
The cons for this though are that you have to begin giving up your original template during the grind, which can put you at a disadvantage later on in the grind process.
You find your skills are lessened and the grind, i feel, would become harder to complete.
If i was asked to choose which I recommend. I would always say to Bank the XP until you have enough for all 6 branches in one go.

I trained so long as I had SP I could spare, then banked (and pulled out my calculator on the last few runs).

bank all of it is my plan. dont want to give up my TKM cuz of pvp, already had to give up master rifles to get commando 4000 in order to make the grind go faster. i thought that the sooner i can get the xp banked, the sooner i can get back to my original template and continue with my uber pvping (even if i do say so myself
), then once i have the xp and wait until the final unlock, i can become jedi and grind my 2nd toon back to my original 1st toon template

I personally get the boxes as I go. I do enjoy seeing the progress that I've made and it keeps me motivated to see that I'm halfway done.I get the benifits of FS skills in the process as well. I have had to surrender some of my original template, mostly scout, TKM, 3000 commando, and 0040 medic are too valuable to me. I had some scout when I started but I've let it go as needed, right now I only have novice scout. The way I see it is that I have the needed cash an nades to finish m grind, I'll drop scout soon probably and pick it back up once I can dump Commando and marksman.

Hehe, me too! I think THAT is one of the biggest reasons why I do it. Originally, I was piling up the xp into Melee Defense (as a rifleman, I can really use it without grinding a melee prof) then I started putting xp into Ranged Defense because with those blasted thugs/pirates in phase4 always shooting at me, I could use it (also without needing to grind another ranged prof). But now, as I have just completed the persuasion unlock, i'm thinking I should just bank the xp until the end because I don't like the idea of tossing existing 'useful' skills infavor of just filling those boxes when I don't know exactly what it does (besides the drop in training cost, sheesh).

The math doesn't take too long to figure out. Should take you about 5 minutes.
With no free unlocks (because with my first holo, I quit creature handler at novice), I figured I had to max out 41 times to get what I wanted. Thank God the branches I choose require weapons and combat xp. I hated crafting, even though all the crafting I've ever done was for smuggler.
I am saving my xp to learn all my skills as soon as I am done with gaining andcoverting xp. Once I know I have enough xp to learn the other 5 branches I want, then I'll probably drop skills to learn all that I can. As for my remaining xp, since I gain xp faster then I unlock branches, I'll just have to wait for those phases to come around so I can just unlock and train right after. The only branch I learned so far, due to lack of skill points and a suggestion from a friend, is Melee Speed. For me, it has made a difference in my grind.
Now as for the the visual thing of seeing that you have learned skills already? Obviously I have nothing bad to say about that. We all grind and learn skills as we wish.
Each time I max out, I am one step closer. 10 steps left to climb
