Thread: Keep the village lose the grind....

So people want others to experience the game before they get jedi. Well here is something that I thought up after I have decided that when my sub is up I am not to resub since I am not going to do the grind. I am not going to live without being a jedi I will just find a different game toplay. <puts on flame retardent suit as this thread is about to get hot>

Current problem with the system is the massive grind to get to be a jedi. Currently the grind to get to Jedi is worse than the actual Jedi grind to full template with spin groups and all. Plus, with the fact that you are getting to use the glowbat this brings in the fun factor so it makes the grind not seem a grind since it has an element of fun. Non-Jedi have a grind using the normal stuff that has very little fun factor, this is relative I think.

So here is a solution that I present to the community for discussion or flaming which ever way they choose.

One additional badge will be required as well to get glowy a CL80 Badge. Crafting boxes will now give CL as well and CL still grants all the normal bonuses like HP and whatever.

Keep the timegate at 3 weeks per phase or even increase it to 4 weeks. All FS boxes now cost 0 SP to train so you can train them all without having the need to lose SP.Inseatd of each phase you do one quest you do them all. After you complete the basic quest you unlock the branch. For example, for ranged accuracy you do 10 patrols you unlock the tree however, you can not train it since all you have done is unlocked the tree. Well now you do the second part of the quest which is 10 or 20 more patrols he grants you the ability to train all 4 boxes for 0SP and 0exp. Then you would move on to the next quest and do them all till you have unlocked all brances and trained all boxes. Total time to complete 12-16weeks depending on if they up the time of the gate like I suggested.

This will enable those that want the extra character slot to have it in 12-16 weeks. This will take the crappy grind away. This will not make it any easier rather harder since to do all the quests you will need the help of crafters. This will give the Jedi their 24SP they have been begging for back.

This will take a minimum of about 14-18 weeks to complete due to the added CL 80 badge. Yes, they can grind out all the quests in one or two days but then they have to wait. What can they do ohh I do not know maybe go do some more quests or anything else that their hearts desire.

The most positive thing I can think that this would do for the game is devalue the Jedi on EBay and maybe get people to play the game rather than just focusing on a grind. Well now before people get all angry at me saying this is too easy and jedi should be hard and should be work. No it shouldn't. This is a game and not real life. Work is for real life and hard things are for real life. People play games to be entertained not something to kill random creture after random creature.

Well I am going to speak the only language of SWG and that is money. Simply put that my sub is not going to be renewed until the grind is taken out of the village. There are many other games out there that focus on fun and here are a few of them. Pirates of the Burning Sun, Star Trek Online, World of Warcraft (gets boring but never stopped having fun playing), and Warhammer Online.

Something that has always confused me is why every game I play that SOE handles is nothing but grind but every other MMO I play there is very little grind. <gets off soapbox so people can flame my post>

Once again all thisis another "I want my Jedi/second slot fast with no work kind of a post." Please for the love of God, stop adding to the endless threads like these. if you don't like the fact you need to grind i.e. work to get Jedi/second slot, you have a choice NOT to do the village. If it is too much for you to handle dont do it period... end of story. To those that continue to grind capping as necessary, I /salute you, you will get there. to those that continue to cry like little girls, please just stop..............

Grinding is normal for any MMORPG. And quite frankly SWG is one of the easiest grinds out there.

I took 1 month to get CL80, and i solo'd to CL55 first.

FS grind was never difficult untill the combat xp conversion which changed the ratio from 3:1 to 30:1.

I think it was a good decision.

The problem everyone keeps talking about, (non-jedi ,even jedi) is that there are too many jedi.

By the change made the FS grind more in proportion to what they wanted to do.

I remember all the nade grinders finishing under a single phase.

It's much better balanced now.

Now it takes about 67 trips with 3 weapon xp cap+combat xp earned during weapon xp cap. (1.2mil+900k+900k+300kcombat)

If you spread that out to 18 weeks, you just need to cap 1.8 times a day.

It's not as over whelming if you think of it that way.

What your saying is you want your Jedi for basicly nothing, correct?

The grind is in place to detur(sp?) everyone fro mbeing Jedi. Your method makes it so easy its laughable. I could immagine the Jedi population Increasing 100 fold if your method was implmented

i dont mind the wait or the grind for jedi but i personal dont want to BE a jedi and i dont like the fact that unless i become a jedi i cant get the second free charicter

they should give us and option to say do all the glowy stuff and all the unlocks (no boxes filled ) and choose to never become a jedi and instead get our free alt

then if sometime in the future u decided to go jedi u would have to delete your alt and do like a special LOOONNNNGGGGG quest to reopen ur ability to "touch the force"

Like I said I am putting my money where my mouth is. You can tell the players that want Jedi but do not want to spend their time grinding to jedi that is should be hard blah blah blah all you want but you know what when we all leave the game you will get to be a Jedi all by yourself.

Maybe WoW spoiled me when I got used to being able to solo or maybe it was when I was playing before the CU when I could don my Ubese armor get in a solo group, for higher payout missions, then go kill pickets all day long and get lots of exp and lots of money. Oh and having lots of fun.

Enjoy your Jedi since after this month until they remove the grind from Jedi I shall not return and I urge everyone who is sick of the grind do the same and play a game where FUN is focus not grinding millions of exp from thousands of random creatures.

Peace and the flame suit worked nothing you said made me wanted to grind more or keep playing this game. Just shows how inept the community is about what others might want from a game.

The whole alt thing was because people who got jedi first got another character slot. Since they made it your main people they gave others an alt.

Two things need to happen to make the game worth playing. Fix the GCW before the FRS. Remove Jedi from the GCW since they have their FRS.

My whole point was that Jedi are going to come anyway why stop them all this does is frustrate players who then move on to a game that is fun not a grind.

Remember FUN it was something before Jedi even existed. Jedi have ruined the fun of the game since where I ever log in and ask what people are doing all of them say FS grind. You can not do much anymore since everyone is at MOP trying to get a grind group so they can grind more FS exp. It is bad for the game and thunderheart even knew grinding was bad for the game. If all they care about is money then fine make it take about 4 or 5 months of just time and get rid of the grind so people will do other stuff besides grind.

people do do other stuff besides just grind for jedi. you ever look at the badges some of them have. yea they pretty much have all the badges. and they got it before they were jedi. and also the alt character should be givin out as like a vet reward or something like that i guess. but the whole point to the alt is to congragulate you for becoming a jedi.

So if you want to leave cuz you dont feel like grindin then go ahead we wont miss you. and you have just wasted however much money you put into the game. and i have played wow and its the same concept as swg you still grind. so have fun when you leave

Here's another Idea. Keep it they way it is and add that you cannot do the exit quest until your account is 365 days old. That will either discourage people from jedi or force them to actually play the game for a while.
