OK so I am 1 phase away from becoming a Jedi. Phase 4 will change in another week and my last phase (phase 1) will be coming around for me to do. I have done the phases in this order so far: 4,1,2,3,4...and have 1 left to do.

I WANT to skip phase 1 and wait for phase 2 as my last phase, so i can learn Melee Speed. However, I am over anxious ot jedi and am thinking that I should just unlock it and go back and get phase 2 later now!! The only problem here being that i will be grinidng out 7 FS branches instead of 6, which is kind of a waste of time.

So help me decide on what to do.

I have already done "Ranged Accuracy" the 1st time i did phase 1, so SURVIVAL, PURSUASION, and ASSEMBLY are the only 3 remaining options, if i do infact decide to do phase 1 and come back to phase 2 later.

I want to know...

IF i do phase 1, the ASSEMBLY quest...is it easy? And will "assembly" help me at all as a jedi? Will it help me make better or stronger Lightsabers?

This is the quest for those that don't remember it:

Crafting: Repair the Sensor Array

Villager: Quharek (5373,-4181)

FS Branch Unlocked: Crafting Mastery: Assembly

Description:
The Village's Sensor Array was damaged in the attack and their Chief Engineer was killed. Quharek asks you to repair it, directing you to the damaged Sensor Array (5419,-4119). It has four broken components which you must retrieve and bring to the Chief Engineer's hut nearby (5379,-4116). This hut has 2 workstations in it: a Recursive Analyzer that takes the broken components and makes schematics for new ones, and a Multi-phase Calibrator that balances them to work properly.

IMPORTANT: You need to bring these resources with you (quality doesn't matter):

  • Steel

  • Copper

  • Aluminum

  • Polymer

  • Lubricating Oil

  • Carbonate Ore

  • Extrusive Ore

  • Rori Fiberplast

  • Talusian Fiberplast

  • Nabooian Water Vapor

  • Yavinian Wind Energy

(Where can i get these minerals?) Can anyone help me with advice for my questions and phase 1 assembly quest?

Thanks,

Kryptis

In my opinion, you should do survival. It was the esiest quest ever, just time consuming. Plus the terrain negotation is very helpful.

As a 12 pt Weaponsmith / Master Shipwright, I'd say the Assembly is excellent. But only for those who actually craft.

I never get less than a great result in assembly when crafting and it's usually amazing instead of great unless I get a critical fail. And since I also have Technique plus 99.7% tools that is quite rare.

I know it is hard but I would say wait and get Melee Speed. I would anyway. First off you can put Melee Speed to use right away. I hear that at MLS Melee Speed doesn't help at all, but until then it does help. Second, I'd only want the skills that help me as a Jedi. Sorry, Assembly and a little bonus to Terrain Neg doesn't fit into that. At any rate, I'd like to be in your position and be that close to Jedi.

Don't you have to grind crafting xp or something for assembly?

Unfortunately, I can't answer your question about how assembly helps lightsaber construction, since I don't have any crafting FS skills, however I'll give you this advice:

Pick the FS skills you want even if you have to wait one phase to do it. I agree with the previous poster that the terrain negotiation is good (I'm a half completed Jedi and I'm working to get the FS xp to train in that skill since I used my pre-pub 9free unlocks to picka differentFS skill i'm not as happy with) so you might want to consider the scouting line of reflexes if you want to finish your FS template in this phase.

Also, do you have a crafting profession mastered -or are you planning to master a crafting skill? If you train in FS Assembly, you'll need to convert crafting xp not combat xp. If you are a combat template, you're probably best to wait for phase 2 and get melee speed unless you really want to grind out a crafting profession and then grind out all the FS XP. You'll need a lot of resources to grind out an entire FS line of crafting. Also, following the 6 FS line, you'll probably want to re-grind some combat skills to support your early padawan training.

With this advice, I'll add one thing, my play style is much slower when it comes to the Force or training in the Force than others. My Jedi toon was a padawan with no skills for a few months before starting to train just so that she could do other things and missions with my guild before having to worry about visibility. Also, now following the CU I realized her FS template wasn't as good as it could be (due to the "blind" picks of FS skills post pub 9), so I'm working to correct that (definitely not as fun as working on jedi skills). So, if I was in your place I'd wait phases rather than get 6 FS lines knowing I'll switch one later. Grinding the 7th when you could be grinding Jedi is not fun.

Wait for Melee Speed, the bonuses in that branch to a Jedi far far outweigh Terrain Negotiationwhichyou can get knitted intoa BEsweater. Remember the teachings of Qui-Gon Jinn.. "We shall be patient."

Regarding Melee Speed, I read somewhere that for TKM melee speed is useless because it's capped or something.

Is that true?

I'm TKM and Master Doc. I'm thinking of doing Melee Defense, Ranged Defense, Melee Accuracy and then I'm not sure what to do. I don't mind waiting for phases but I would like to get force skills that are relevant to Jedi Profession or even the ones that would help my current professions.

I would love to get Healing but everybody is telling me that Healing is useless for Jedi and it doesn't help. All the info I read in the faq is confusing because info is not usually current.

I would also like to do Survey so I can drop novice artisan and save skill points in there. Is that worth it?

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance

You're probably right, I haven't checked butMelee Speed is probably not very useful for a TKM. But if you're working towards become a Jedi, then you're not going to bea TKM for long, are you? And Melee Speed is very useful for a Padawan.

FS Healing does not affect Force Healing even one little bit.

Survey would be nice if you're staying as an artisan. Completely useless for a Jedi or any other profession, as you must have the survey skill from Novice Artisan for the FS skillmods to help you.

I still have a few (cough, if ya want to call it that, cough) points to go, before my unlock. If I get the points I need, I will unlock the next phase. If I do not, then I may do the quest in phase 2, for melee speed. Either way will work nicely.

Now I confused. If I just finish Force Sensitive part, then I'm only going to be using 24 of the skill points, correct? Then I have enough skill points to keep TKM and Master Doc.

If I become Jedi Padawan, am I giving up all my professions (except Force Sensitive Skills) and concentrating on Padawan? If I give up all my professions, does my combat level become 1 like a noob player? (forgive me if I'm asking obvious questions. Nobody explainedthings properlyto me yet)

Another thing is I want to be able to continue with survey so I can place harvesters. I heard that's possible(even without Novice Artisan), if I have Survey Force Sensitive Skill. Is that true?

Also, if Healing doesn't help Force Healing at all then what good is healing as force sensitive skill?

Can I get terrain negotiations benefit by doing Survival without Novice Scout or do I need to keep Novice Scout to get Survival Force Sensitive benefit?

Once again, forgive me if I'm asking noob questions. It is just that no matter how long I've been playing this game (8 months), I feel like a noob player.
