Thread: How exactly is the new system healthier??

Previously, the path to Jedi was a hidden mechanic where you had to master X amount of random professions. Although our intentions were pure, this turned out to be unhealthy for the game in general, and not as much fun as we would have liked. Now, the path to Jedi has several different stages, full of danger, excitement, and adventure.

If I take this the right way it means that the devs realised thatforcing the players togrind endlesslyhoping to hit the rightthe professions was a very cruel choice and poor desicion to unlock their jedi. However I fail to see how the new Jedi unlocking system is more appealing and friendly. I have just started on it and even though I got 3 free unlocks I realised that if I max my combat and weapon xp every day it will take me 21 days to train asingle branch. And I have to do this 3 times so I may later start to grind the jedi part. That means that I must play 3 hours every day for 63 days to complete the force sensitive part.

Am I the only one who sees the contradiction here?

Its healthier because it is an equal system whereas under the previous system some people got unlocks after 5 professions while others did after 32. A system is only fair if it applies equally to all people. Random luck is not inherantly fair.

Yes. Not only is this system more realistic to SW, but it also gives people a more fun way than standing in a cantina yelling (and I quote) "OMG PLZ INVT ME NEED XP 4 JEDI AUTOJOIN ON". I personally support the decision. Your opinion does not particularly affect mine.

OS: ... oh.

I mastered 27 professions before the change and I got 4 unlocks I was silent after I used my x-mas holo which was my only holo used before going silent.

I Personally liked the holo system better because I play on TC and trying the professions that game had to offer was funner that toss nades at a lair or rezing people or taking the TKM/Swords temp and play buff session to grind up 6 trees (that take away 24 points I could use on much better Jedi Skills) of stuff that was no fun to get.

Thats just me but I see where everyone else is coming from about some unlocking after 5 professions. I remember my friends on TC that were unlocking after doing3 or 4holos and I was silent a month before they were.

the new system is fine, and much better than the previous one. The main reason is that we as the player get to chose our OWN fate. and as well, that fate is quantified. There are many players like me that only like one aspect of the game. Some are pure crafters, some are pure warriors. FYI, i never followed the jedi path in the first time around, b/c i never hunted holos, and my first one was during last year's christmas presents.Lo and behold, my first holo told me to be an armorsmith. i didn't even bother, and thus ended my quest for jedi. Now that the new system is out, I can do what I like to do on a daily basis, which is hunt for loot, and from time to time go to the village and convert it to FS xp.... since the launch, I have unlocked 5 branches ( no freebies), and have filled up 7 boxes, and I still love the game.... if i get jedi , so be it, if i don't, I'm happy hunting loot, and selling it my guildies for their house decorations....... who knows some day, i might go crafter... and guess what? I can even use those xp to convert! how can anyone say this new system stinks???

I think the new system is better in the way that, unlike the old system, you won't have to go through an entire prof you'd never consider trying in the first place.

It's more "healthy" because you get to use the template you want to do it vs. having to do things you never planned on doing and maybe didn't want to do at all.

Now, you can grind which makes it feel unhealthy, but that's only because you choose to grind, not because of how the system works

If you are justa musician/dancer there is no way you can unlock.

  • You need to train 6 branches and only 4 can be done with entertainment/music/dancing/healing xp.

  • At a convertion ratio of 10/1 the horrible memory of AFK dancing/playing music fordaysin the cantina to get master seems childlike.

So, in the case of entertainers, they may want to pick up some combat skills. Seeing as 80-90% of the stuff to do with the village requires some combat skill, it makes sense to me that you'd want to have at least a little. If they choose not to, then that's their choice.

At least they don't have to figure out where to get a few hundred thousand units of resources to grind arch only to drop it and find out they need a ton of resources to grind chef...to drop it and have to master bio engineer.. etc etc...

As a doctor, I convert at 10:1 as well. And I cap out med xp at 80k. It sucks but, it's doable. I have over 600k senses fs xp after a couple days of grinding and I'm not a heavy grinder.

are they going to be an entertaining jeid?

i will defend all that is good and pure in this universewith my guitar / i will destroy all that is good and pure in this universe with my guitar

just a thought that the people that are looking to become jedi WILL need some combat skills to survive as a jedi. if the entertainers want to augment some skills with FS stuff then they can work on the 4 branches that pertain to them.

I actually prefered the holo system. It was fun experimenting with different professions, instead of the same old mindless grind. And I do agree, it is a contridiction.

ya i much prefer the old system, im working on my 2nd jedi, i unlocked in jan of 04 in old system and im about to unlock in jan of 05 in the new system. old system seems to have kept the number of jedi down more, as well as being somewhat mysterious for me cause you never knew what prof you were gonna get the message from. it was tkm for me on prof 19. i dont know, just the opinion of someone who has done it both ways.
