Something has to be done about becoming FS and getting Jedi. Some think it goes too fast and is too easy, others think it to be to slow and hard. Please post with you ideas of howyou think the whole FS/Jedi mess should be fixed or changed.

It does need something to slow it down a bit. The phases on the village do help. This is a MMORPG and shouldn't be beat overnight.

here is how i see it:

1) glowy is too easy to get right now - make it more difficult/time consuming. increase the requirements.

2) i don't mind the high xp requirements and 3 week phase delays in the village. i don't think it is too long and i don't think it is too short. people should have to spend a lot of time working on fs xp and the village.it should notjust be realistically achieveable by power gamers, which is whythey definitely should NOT reduce combat xp conversion to 30:1

3) jedi... don't know i'm not there yet. but it should be really difficult and take a really long time. but should involve more than just killing tens of thousands of innocent creatures. explain to me how killing 100,000 bols is considered to be jedi training

hmm, increase phase time to maybe 5-6k weeks, make the conversion rates larger, instead of 30:1 maybe 40:1 or 50:1THEN it would be difficult, and hated, so no-one would bother, problem solves

My idea to control the jedi population actually has nothing to do with FS. That's right, don't touch it, not all people who want FS want jedi. The only way to control the jedi population without affecting those who just want some FS to enhance their skills is to change the padawan trials. These are the only things that stand between FS and you're Force Bar. You can still have 16 trials, probably even have the same moral points behind them, but instead of having to go talk to npc A, then going to go talk / kill npc B or killing 20 creatures, then going back to npc A and trial complete, start another trial immediately, etc..., you could make the trial more involved. Make like each trial have a series of quests in order to complete it. Maybe even putting some sort of timer between each trial, so that you can only do one a day or something, allowing you time to comprehend the trial you just completed and understand why you had to what you did. Basically making it like 16 themeparks that you do. A couple can be long trials, like how long Jabba or the reb themepark is, others can be shorter, maybe like Nym's (when you actually do it the right way, not the cheap 5 minute way). That's my idea, what do you think?

This thread seems aimed at brainstorming ideas tocontrol the Jedi population and/or inserting a method to slow the large numbers of players who are working towards becoming Jedi. But I'm afraid it isn't that simple anymore as this is a serious and complex issue at this point in time.

We should take a look back at the history of the game for a moment and remember what the original idea for achieving Jedi was. Everyone knew it wasn't known. No one had any idea how to become a Jedi and the players were baited every now and again by a Dev posting randomly mentioning some few players were close to unlocking.

(I won't even go into the original concept of Jedi in this game. Such as permadeath and becoming a blue glowy force ghost, or other tid-bits).

For reasons we can only assume to be "player outcry" the Dev's decided to award all the players a christmas present of one holocron to help point people to the path of becoming Jedi. And thus the profession grinding began.

Anyone with half a clue did in fact know, once the path to becoming Jedi was made clear, the information would be turned into a FAQ to help all other players obtain it. This goes hand in hand with the fact this is Star Wars and a majority of people want to play a Jedi.

Some time later and again we must assume it was due to "player outcry" the Jedi profession and the path to Jedi-hood was completely revamped. The path to Jedi-hood became a quest based scenario and we should probably assume the Dev's implimented the phases to help slow the obvious comming increase in the Jedi population. No longer was the path unknown, instead of was actually made rather easy.

Now, let's skip ahead to today. SWG has kicked promotion of the game into high gear with the release of the last Star Wars movie. Clearly this promotion of the game would create a huge influx of players into SWG, nearly every single one bent on playing a Jedi for obvious reasons. And now the Dev's are going to impliment more changes, not directly to the Jedi profession but to the XP gains as well as XP tp FS XP conversion rates, perhaps to slow the march of players into Jedi-hood.

Does anyone see the underlying issue? The Developers of this game have been extremely bad at managing the game and managing the Jedi profession. The Dev's, or maybe it'sthe "Executives" behind the scenes who care about the money, have time and time again made changes to this game that have caused lasting issues.

To me it's pretty clear "they" (SOE I assume) should have known 90% of the player base would want to become a Jedi. In fact, the game should have been designed around it. Jedi should be the high-end or end-game content. The method of reaching Jedi-hood should have never been changed. "They" should have had a plan (and they did) and they should have stuck to it.

At this point in time, I'm sorry, but I personally believe it's too late. There are already thousands of Jedi, full template Jedi, out there in the many galaxies (servers). And sure enough there are hundreds if not thousands more players waiting and working hard to be a Jedi some day.

It's time for the Dev's to stop trying to manipulate a situation that's already grown way out of hand and completely overwhelmed them. They need to either remove Jedi from the game completely (something that we all know would never happen) or just open the Jedi up as a profession like any other.

I would have no issue with Jedi being reached when your "normal" toon hits CL80. Once a toon hits CL80 that's it, they're as high as they can go and are officially end-game toons. So, why not let them become a Jedi? Why force time constraints and endless hours of mindless grinding on so large a majority of players?

SOE needs to just accept a lot of people want to play a Jedi character. Get over it. Deal with it. Stop playing with people's time and money. Let the Jedi be a profession like any other without the need to jump through hoops. To do otherwise will result in people feeling betrayed, punished, disliked, and abused. Actually, most Jedi who went through the trouble of grinding all their professions already feel insulted by the changes.

Well, the combat XP will be at 30:1 in a little while. Also have you read the TC notes? The XP will be split up among the group members, making it take a very, very, very, very long time to get enough FS XP. Is thishow DEV'sare planning to keep the Jedi population down? By making it impossible to get enough FS XP? I have all my XP banked now but i still feel it is not fair to do this to other people who have just started the village. Sure, I want the Jedi population to be controlled, but this is not the way to do it.

hmm do you have a link to the TC notes on the split XP thing? I can't seem to find it.

What about all the professions I holo grinded and the money I spent to do them? Was it fair? Of course not but that is the way it goes.

I'm not directing this at you particularly, but I guess one could say that no one held a gun against your head and told you to grind Jedi. Things get changed in this game, for better or worse, so one should expect these changes if they prepare to get something that right now, is too easy to get.

Easy for you maybe. I just don't like rules being changed mid-game. Have been here since day one, have two kids, a wife, a life, and now I am so close to getting my jedi but they change the rules. It would be nice to see a schedule of upcoming fixes/patches/publishes so we have ample warning as to when and what is being changed so one can change their gameplay accordingly.
