Thread: The Village is flawed

"The Village of Aurilia was formed on the planet Dathomir by a small group of like-minded Force sensitive refugees who had, for one reason or another, abandoned their old lives. Some of them were hunted by agents of the Empire, their strange knack for piloting, healing, or combat making them dangerous to the Emperor, and the rumors of a Sith Lord who held a high power amongst the Imperials."

Ok, do we see the problem here? No? Judging by from the story of the village, it sounds like their no friend of the Empire, so why would they train Imperials(especialy imperials who have gotten the highest faction rank they can?) Wouldnt it be a danger to the existence of the village?

Alright, now that we see the contradiction between the story the devs came up with for us to get force sensitive and the actual in game implementation, I want to bring up this point: Enclaves are this game's version of the jedi/or a dark jedi temple, right? Where the jedi practice their skills, the council sits, etc. But as we can see in ep I and II(and III), there is a wide range of jedi in the temple from initiates(the bear clan), to padawans, to knights, to masters, to council members. So why does this game choose to only have knights be able to enter? Is there any rational explanation(i mean a rational SW explanation) for this? Is it to give Knights some kind of prize for getting the title? If thats so, is it so hard to give them one that actualy makes sense instead of one like this that defies logic as to why anyone who is a jedi cannot enter?

So, to become a jedi you get glowy, meet an old man, get a wp to a village, and go do the quest there. But if there is a jedi temple(enclave) already existing, whyare youtaught by people who arent jedi(only FS)? Wouldnt it make more sense for the datapad you loot from the sith camp to give you a wp to the jedi or dark jedi enclave(according to your faction), and you go there and basicaly have a theme park type progression from initiate to master, actualy being taught by jedi masters? Just some thoughts...

I LOVE the idea of the enclave training deal. Too bad to the devs its a waste of time because its worth it. Well you know what I mean. Good job.

Your talking about Star Wars Galaxies. When has this game ever not been flawed.

Last I looked you don't learn Jedi skills from the Village, only 'Force Sensitive' skills which are tought by people that are Force Sensitive in a village.

Just a few of my thoughts:

We don't go to the village to learn how to be a Jedi, we go to the village to become force sensitive.

Ok, do we see the problem here? No? Judging by from the story of the village, it sounds like their no friend of the Empire, so why would they train Imperials(especialy imperials who have gotten the highest faction rank they can?) Wouldnt it be a danger to the existence of the village?

Good point, the only thing I wonder is if anyone has attempted to goto the village as an overt Imperial? Would be interesting to see if 1) if they could get into the village and 2) if anyone would talk to them. Maybe the idea is since most people are always covert Imerial/Rebel or even neutral the people in the village will talk to everyone. I could be talkin' out my rear end, but it's just a thought.

True in Episode I, II and most likely III the Jedi Temple is in the middle of the city with every rank of Jedi in the temple. Remember what Obi-Wan says in Episode IV -

"For over a thousand generations Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the old republic, before the dark times, before the Empire. A young Jedi named Darth Vader whom was a pupil of mine until he turned to evil helped the Empire hunt down and destroy the Jedi Knights."

Also, from what I understand the game takes places somewhere inbetween Episode IV and Episode V after Darth Vader has destroyed most of the Jedi - we know for sure Obi-Wan and Yoda survived (However Obi-Wan is killed by Vader in Episode IV). I may be going out on a limb on this part but:

I don't think it would be a good idea to put all of the remaining Jedi in one spot - makes for an easy target. (Kinda like how when high level executives travel, or even high level government members travel they take sepearte planes etc...)

Okay so I'm off of that tanget. My wife and I watched the Star Wars movies over the weekend, about 5 minutes into Episode I my wife asks. "So in the game, when you get to Jedi Padawan do you have to locate a "Master" to follow you around in the game and protect you and such until you go through the Knight Trials?"

I have always thought this would be a great idea andI think it would make the whole 'Star Wars Immerision' much much better. I don't know how hard it would be to implement from a developer stand point, but I hope to see one day where a Initinite needs to locate a Jedi Knight or higher, once the 'Master' was selected the two of you would not cause visibility to each other - many other things can come from this as well.

I never said you DID learn Jedi skills at the village. I said:

In a way this makes sense, except for the fact that Jedi(PC) can be found alot of times in the middle of crowded starports and THEY arent in any danger. Also, during the jedi purge in ep III, I dont think they Jedi Order is all together when their extermination begins. Most knights have been made generals and are leading their own armies of clone troopers, so when the order is given by palpatine for the clones to turn on the jedi, it will be like an entire general's army attacking him, and as we saw in ep II, even Mace would have been killed simply be being outnumbered if Yoda hadnt shown up. So the point is, I think the way the jedi were destroyed was having their forces drawn too thin all over the galaxy, and THATS what made them an easy target. Were they all together on one planet it would have been virtualy impossible(it seems) to defeat them.(There were 10,000 jedi during the new movies, according to the novel of TPM)

I was just talking to my friend about this the other day! I was using the example of how you can use a unity ring to propose a unity to how a Master could offer somone the spot of being his padawan, and it would be some sort of official bond until the padawan reached knighthood. Being the padawan of a jedi should accelerate the grind somhow, as it only makes sense that a padawan being taught by a mature jedi would advance faster than somone learning force skills on their own. Whether a padawan would get more xp than normal, or simply have a lower requirment to advance(which would probably be more easily implemented), it would be only rational.

I like the idea of the Master/Padawan relationship. It even goes along with the devs wanting to bring back some sort of "community grouping". Would be fun to hunt with a lightsaber with someone and not get visibility.

Seems to me that there would be more "bad" jedi who have tried to teach themselves, than if they had a "Master".
