Pre CU, a rifleman could solo this mission.

Now,it seems to be undoable alone.

-------------------------------------------------

Luke was alone facing his own fears and doubtswith Yoda as a teacher, as a witness..

Why on earth a profession based on self progression and personnalspirit way should need a solid group to be attainable ?

I am currently MTKA-M2H-MBrawler, if there is a way to pass this mission, another template, I will respec instantaneously.

I know that, when I will be ready, I can ask for help but it makes me unconfortable : at the very moment of becoming a Jedi Initiate I have to be alone.

If someone has done it solo, please make me know your template

You dont become an initiate until you craft your lightsaber...so you can kill Mel with friends and be alone when you craft your saber

Pre CU I solo'd it with my first Jedi. I was a rifleman, and made good use of terrain and water (he was very bad at terrain neg, a scout 4xxx ran away from him up hills very easily.

Post CU I unlocked my second Jedi, and there was no way of getting him solo. I did it with a group of 5. (Mostly riflemen and pistoleers, using root all the time)

You could have done it pre-19 with a pet, but I think they eneded that possiblity. If there is a template to do it with, it's not melee, IMO. You'll get agroed by the whole camp as soon as you head for the first crystal.

my friend actually almost did it with me...me almost soloing it for him since he was only a tk with like no damage.

You take down the crystals, and use a pet for the last few pts of damage so you can prepare for the attack. Same with Daxtar, root and run. Then when Mell came, just make sure not to let him/her retreat and you're fine. But then my friend HAD to do some damage and he got killed once that happens.

Pretty cool when Mell comes force runnign to you at an insane speed holding up her lightsaber and charging and then slicing. Almost pulled off a screenie had I not rooted her

I soloed Mellichae about a week ago, using the power of the Rifleman/Combat Medic combination. Since Mel only uses melee attacks, it's very easy to kite him with electrolyte drain.

The only part of the camp I couldn't do was Dakar (or however it's spelled). His ranged attacks were just too powerful for me to handle. But you only have to kill the crystals and Mel to finish the quest, so you can just skip Dakar.

Here's how I did it:

First I used a pet to pull each of the Sith npcs away, and kill them one-on-one. Very easy as long as you are lvl 80. Then I went around and killed two of the crystals. I took the crystals out byusing the "Cover" command, and using Conceal Shot. After two crystals are destroyed, more Sith will spawn and aggro you along with Dakar. You won't be able to survive them solo, so burst run away until they return to the camp.

Now, pull the new sith again individually. So that they don't aggro as you kill more crystals. Destroy the last 2 crystals, and be ready to run again. Because not only will Dakar and any Sith aggro onto you, but Mel himself will as well. It would help to have let burst run recharge, and use that to escape again.

Go back to the camp, and prepare to fight Mel. Use what ever combination of food and spice you want. Preferably something that willincrease action recharge. And maybe something to increase rangedaccuracy. A good weapon touse as a rifleman would be an advanced laser rifle. But anything withhigh damage would work. You will probably want to wear some armor, incase mel gets in a lucky hit or twoas you are rooting him.

Once you are ready, get about 100 meters or so away from Mel and use a pet to pull him away from the camp. He should light up his lightsaber, and come running all alone. Before he has a chance to kill your pet, hit him with Kneecap shot to slow him down. Then kite him to an open, flat space (if the terrain allows) where you have plenty of space to run around in large circles. Tell your pet to stay, because you don't want him breaking Mel's root in a minute.

When you get there, stop and let Mel catch up to you. When Mel is less than 15 meters away, use yourParalyze ability on him. It actually only works under 10 meters, but Mel will have closed that space by the time your attack goes off. If you time it right, he won't even hit you once. If he does, just heal yourself.Paralyze will keep Mel from acting for several seconds, so use that time to apply Electolyte Drain on him. Now, run out of melee range, and start hitting Mel with an alternating Headshot/Ranged Shot combination. And add in the occaisonal Kneecap shot to slow him down even more.

The idea at this point is to run ahead of Mel, kiting him in a large circle, as you rain death down on him with your rifle. You want it to be a circle so that you don't get too far away from the camp. Otherwise he might retreat, and you'd have to start this part over.

Mel has a fast regeneration for his health, so it will take several minutes to grind him down to zero. You might have to reapply Electrolyte Drain on him a couple more times. Just do it the same way you did the first time. You might be tempted to use a couple of DOTs on him, but I wouldn't recommend it. If the damage tick of the DOT goes off when you have him paralyzed, it will break the root. Allowing Mel to lay the hurt down on you before you are out of melee range.

And that is how you solo Mellichae using the Rifleman/Combat Medic template. You could probably adapt it to use any of the ranged professions in place of Rifleman. Hope it is of help for people. You can also use this basic stratagy to solo pretty much any melee mob in the game. I just used it to solo the katarn yesterday, and also use it to take down krayts and such.

One thing to note: Publish 20 is changing the way pets can single pull. So you may have to change that part of the plan, once publish 20 goes live.

So what level is Mellichae now? If he's under level 100 then I see no reason he can't be solo'd.. if you're a Master Defender, lol. Why solo? Post CU grouping is the way to go, why not use a group? You don't get any bonus for spending hours trying to pull one at a time and sneaking around using conceal shot....

He was level 87, if I recall correctly. His friend, Dakar, was actually much higher in level. Something like level 94 I think.

As for why to solo it: For the excitement of killing something strong and mean without anyone to bail you out.

I was actually nervous when Mellichae came charging at me with his lightsaber swinging. And I felt exhilarated when he finally dropped dead from my attacks. These are feelings I rarely have in this game's combat, because it tends to be so relaxed and simple.

Plus it was nice to take that step into becoming a Jedi through just my own actions. I feel the same way as this thread's origional poster in that regard.

yeah he's doable with 2 people, long as one has a root, and they can both heal.. great if both have root, 2 rifleman can do this easy.

OK hold the phone... Rifles has a root? I am MC MM MR a little scout and a little medic and I don't think I have a root... unless I misread an attack... now the highest level of startle shot on the other hand that is a damn usefull atack for big mean things. plus with head and leg shot on diffrent timers you can lay down some crazy dammage.
