I started a couple of threads earlier, to express that the changes made to combat exp conversion would only make it worse for everyone, but it would hurt casual players most. Grinders will always be grinders, they don't really care. Many (not all)who are jedi now probably like the change, because many are, in my opinion, the worst kind of griefers and exploitation masters. You have given the worst people on the servers more reason to be proud of their exploits and grinding capability. Again I ask, why?
It would be difficult to think of a worse way to deal with the problems you created by a questionable combat upgrade. I have worked in the computer gaming industry, and with a relative still working in the industry, I have a rather good view into the business. Because I can understand a lot of what is going on, I am quite frankly mystified that you could be capable of such blunders. I have tried to be reasonable in past posts, because I thought that perhaps someone might rethink the strategy you now have implemented.
Let's take stock. Previously, the only path to jedi as secret, and combined blindly grinding a personal set of professions. Those who got through this were not what I would call good teammates, because they did not help to develop the game for other players. Then, holocrons were added, and this trend got even worse. Then came the village, and the requirements were spelled out, yet heavily favored combat classes and grinders yet again. Now we have the combat upgrade, and along with it a whole new set of issues.
By badly implementing the combat upgrade, you have only made a bad situation worse. Now you have changed the goalposts yet again! By changing combat exp and med exp (which can ONLY be received in combat now, go figure why the med centers are empty now) you have yet again moved the goalposts and made it even harder for casual gamers. This means, among other things, that you are falsely representing yourselves as catering to a casual gaming audience. That lie is now exposed, and it has been made clear that the only people that can succeed in this game are grinders, mindlessly grinding.
I can only imagine that the people in charge at SOE are the same kind of people you cater to. Just because that particular group (like right wing Republicans) shout a lot and demand things, does not mean they represent a majority of your customer base. Just like the world did not fall apart when people did not have TEF anymore (though the griefers assured you it would), making it harder to grind jedi WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEMS!!! Once again, you have simply substituted one set of problems for another set, one which could possibly destroy your game by making people SO disgusted they quit, as I am about to.
From the vantage point I am at, it does not seem that you care about anything except making people play as long as possible to get jedi, so that you can keep their accounts going. Does it not occur to you that if the GAME WAS FUN MORE PEOPLE WOULD STAY? Instead you take the path of greed and ease, not bringing content, but by nerfing. THis approach only works for so long.
I actually appreciate and would like to thank the programmers, who typically spend many many thankless hours over game code with little thanks or respect. I understand that it is not (mostly) your fault for these changes, but likely the producers and executives who make decisions. The producers and executives tend to want to cut staff, get more code, not buy into any project that actually takes time and effort beyond the minimum necessary to keep the ship afloat while planning another expansion they can make people pay for. I also want to send an apology to the customer service cadre who actually read these messages, and my gratitude that it gets read at all. I plead with you to make these decision makers read these posts and see what they are doing to their own profits! I can only hope that something I used to enjoy, and may again one day, might actually be fun to play again, and not a grinders paradise.

It seems to me like they are trying to actualy enhance the community and make it more fitting to the time this saga portrays. They are trying to reduce the amount of Jedi because keep in mind there were not many Jedi around this erra(If any, but they must put it in there to intise people). But at the same time they have people ranting and raving that Jedi is not easy enough to obtain.. Now they have two aspects they have to think about:
1. What is best for the game and it's customers who understand what is REALLY important for the game. And trust that what SOE is doing is for the best. Because after all they ARE the makers in a large corporation and most likley know quite a bit about the business....![]()
and:
2. What the customers want, but may regret in the future because of their impatients....
"If the GAME WAS FUN MORE PEOPLE WOULD STAY?"
That is completely TRUE..But what many seem to not realize is that what may seem good for the community now, may not be the best decision in the long run. Plans do back fire, and SOE has taken that into account.
Those are my views...![]()

Oh get over yourself. Everyone has a right to express what they wish. And just because you don't agree politicaly doesn't mean you HAVE to disagree in every other aspect, be it life or a game idea...(Republicans...pshhh) lol

When I first began reading your post, I was pleasantly surprised to find how articulate it was. Furthermore, the message was primarily something that I agree with wholeheartedly, which really made for a positive connection between yourself and, in this case, your audience. As I was reading your thread, I found myself nodding my head from time to time in agreement with your assertions, but then I came across this paragraph, and was completely horrified:

Why would you do something like this? You had a completely articulate, respectable post going in your favor, and then you completely blew it out of the water making a shallow and baseless attack against a broad political spectrum. Such commentary is forbidden on the SWG forums, to the best of my knowledge, so I will not even begin to defend against such a blatant ad hominem. In that single comment, you managed to completely shed yourself any remote token of respectability that I once held for you in the reading of your post. I am a registered Republican, but I am not "frothing at the mouth" and screaming to the heavens as you have portrayed. I believe that I am a completely logical, rationale being who understands that both sides of the political spectrum maintain certain strengths and inherent weaknesses that are quintessential to the formation of their platforms. I also firmly believe that there are overspoken individuals on both sides of the political coin, and I feel that singling one out in a shallow attempt to further your baseless, hateful political agenda is shameful.
Shame on you.

If that was intended for me then I'm not posting for selfish reasons as I have my Jedi. ![]()
I've had it easy all the way through, easy grinding FS before CU, and now Jedi are easy to grind now too, but think it stinks that the devs make the FS grind the area to slow the Jedi population.
I just think making Jedi only lose XP when only killed by a BH, instead of what it was - everything - you die (even if by a kreetle), you lose XP, and getting rid of visibility in a group, (which I accepted when being Jedi) and then making FS grind tougher, is just all totally dumb, in the plan to thin Jedi. Once your done with the village, its quite easy now, to grind through Jedi, and less likely chance to get on the terms, so less BH after you, if at all.
If the combat XP conversion of 30:1 sticks I reckon people should be able to get their 2nd slot once become glowy and got access to the village, so they can work on their alt when the FS grind gets too much, or do another totally unrelated quests to Jedi/FS for those not interested in Jedi or as most other MMORPGs do, let people have them from the get go.
