i think doing this would not only make it harder but would make the noobs who dont know anything about the game but are halfway through jedi already have to learn something about professions and the game before they start the FS.

anyone else think so?

Hmm why not

I loved the hologrind... there you got the xp to actual dosomething you need for that prof no to exchange it in xp

but the quests should stay only remvoce the fs xp system

that wouldn't be a bad idea. learning up to all professions with the original hologrindwas a very bad idea, but 3-6 profs would be very educational. If this was my proposal, I would suggest a minimum of 3 Elite profs, plus, these 3 profsmust consist of at least one elite crafting prof and at least 1 combat prof. Everything else about becoming a Jedi would remain the same, villiage and all.

isn't that how the former "hologrind" worked?

edit: nvm I can't read "learning up to all professions with the original hologrind"

well, for starters, the currentmaster prof badge requirement should onlycount for elite professions, and in my opinion you should need at least 2 of them not just 1. this way, it increase the requirements significantly without forcing the player to drop an elite prof after mastering it.

secondly, the mos eisley n00b badges should not count toward glowy. at least 2 of the content badges should have to come from high-end missions (warren, corvette, etc)

also, the POI requirements should be upped considerably. maybe even require at least one POI from each planet or something (not counting kash cuz you can't force players to buy the expansion) this would be a good way to force players to actually explore the galaxy a little.

in fact, i would even dare say that a minimum time requirement should be placed on becoming glowy. say X number of months since character creation. i can't stand that some n00bs try to become glowy as fast as possible from the first day they log into the game. but this one is more debatable in my opinion.

the short of all this is that currently it is way to easy to become glowy. a lot of n00bs are becoming or trying to become glowy before they even learn how to properly play the game. also, i hate it when a CL 15 n00b asks me to help him complete the warren so he can become glowy!

Wow, this is actually a darn good idea I agree 100%

As far as the hologrind went, yes it was possible to unlock in 5, but generally it took a few more than that

And yes its funny all the "noob" jedi i meet in my travels

I like this idea a lot. Lets keep this bumped and maybe the devs will pay attention!

I also think this is a great idea. The fact that noobs have to get to know how the game works and actually experience the game outside of Jedi and FS (that isn't what the entire game is about). I hope this idea is made a reality.

I like the idea, but I'm a bit worried about how it would affect the economy. The truly bad part of the hologrind was how it destroyed the economy with all the thousands and thousands of crafted objects appearing for low low prices. But I'd gladly up the difficulty for becoming glowie...

Maybe it would be a good idea to make it so that you need, say, 25 badges out of which only 10 may be POIs and at least 3 must be themeparks? *shrugs*

I dont see how this would slow down "n00bs" from becoming glowie more than say a week. I've seen Slite Professions mastered in about 6 hours so now you added 30 hours of game time until the 'n00b' is glowie. Dont kid yourself a new player that joins whose goal is to simply get right to Jedi will do it? Theyll pick 5 combat proffessions and grind right through them killing bols or pickets. No real learning will take place other than making sure to hit each mob at least once before rest of group kills it. No learning took place during the hologrind other than getting it doen as fast as possible. Do you think a Master WS who did their grind on steel poles then dropped once they hit master learned anything more than how to click resources?

In th ened does it really matter to you how fast a "n00b" gets his Jedi. Ive been playin gsince sept of 03 and Im just now unlocking my Jedi does my gameplay change in anyway because someone who started 6 months ago is fully templated? Now I do agree that if you only play the game for Jedi you probably are missing allot of the game but hey its your money not mine.

Oh and according to your ruleI wouldnt be able to unlockbecause I've only Mastered Doc, Fencer, TKM and Swordsman.

Make them grind one profession from each basic profession. One marksmen, brawler, entertainer, scout, and artisan. That way, they will get the feel and learn what its like for each 'side' of the game. Some will still just power level through it and learn nothing.

makes jedi harder cause its easy now to get to and also in some cases lets people know more bout the game and become less noobs

this is all true. you can't really FORCE someone to learn the game if all they want is jedi as fast as possible. but i still think the currentrequirements for making glowyare entirely too easy. i don't like the idea of bringing back hologrinding either, which is why my earlier proposal was much more diverse.

i didn't achieve glowy until almost a year of playing, mainly because that was never my goal until very recently. and now that i am glowy, i feel that i truly earned it for all my time and achievements in the game. i'm not saying that it should take everyone a year, but i think playing for more than a week wouldn't kill them.
