I apologize if this has been answered, but shouldn't you get one free unlock for each holo you did? If anyone knows, please let me know. Thanks!!!

Unfortunately the devs changed this...of course I didn't find any information on this until I submitted a CSR ticket.
From what I was told, the development team, in their infinite wisdom, decided to pick a somewhat random pool of 8 professions out of the 32 instead of the holo ones. The 'free unlocks' are from that pool, and are 'working as intended'
Of course, no one was told about this..at least not that I read. I suppose the devs either 1. wanted people to master much more (so people with 5 professions, 4 being holos wouldn't get squat), or 2. keep people doing this longer, since now the 'random profession player' now has a better chance of free unlocks than the holo grinder.
Who knows why they did this, different than that of what thunderheart said, which isn't a surprise for me since it seems a lot of things posted change quite fast and little word about it (smuggler revamp?)

Ack that is horrible! I already did Whip's missions thinking I could unlock the combat one with my free unlock. Now I lose out on ranged accuracy!!! Isn't there anything we can do???

this is soooo confusing it isnt funny. by "free unlock" what exactly do you get? enough FS for 4 boxes or just the novice title alone???
for example... i got to the village with 3 mastered professions and none were holos to my knowledge... came out of village w/o even getting enough FS for even one box even after trading in 900k unarmed and over 180k combat plus a little here and there... but I have the combat tree I canLOOK at under "skills" I have
my son had 5 professions mastered and told he 2 free... one holo he knew about. He came out of the village with 8 boxes before even turning in his XP weap/combat and 2 trees he can look at under skills combat/sense
am I misunderstanding that everyone that even made it as far as the village should have enough FS to fill up 4 boxes??? not including holos.
not one quest was taking for i saw there might be issues in doing so but such as IRL the "issues" seemed to find me anyhow =(

a free unlock give you a whole branch. So, if you get 2 free unlocks, then yes, you should have enough for eight boxes, not counting the novice box. Whichever two were chosen, he should have the fourth box in both of them, basically finishing those branches.

The free unlock includes the novice skill as well as the four skill boxes in the branch you have chosen to get for free.

Hi
Im about to start the village. I understand that I talk to a NPC to get free unlocks for my hologrinding - but does he tell me how many free unlocks I have earned?

20 Profs gave me 4 unlocks. But you may experience something different than me, because of that 20 how many of the 8 needed holos did you finish? ... youll never know.

I did Five professions and got one free unlock, so I must have been very lucky.
Yes, It says how many free branch unlocks you have when you talk with him. Use the option to learn something different about the force.
