Thread: Gernades for combat XP

I am looking into taking advantage of using gernades to gain a lot of combat xp before the big 30:1 nerf. How do you effectively use gernades while not pissing off the other members in your group when hunting?

Play with people you know?

I honest am not sure, was in a group with an alt yesterday and one guy kept grenading gurk lairs (not AoE group) and cause much more grief than he helped.

Wish they would fix the nade thing, its craptastic for groups.

You could wait until there's only about 1 or 2 creatures left in the lair and use the a nade, that way people probably woln't even know what you are doing. Also more creatures will spawn in singles so you can use a nade on them.

You caould also ask the group leader if you can throw in a nade before you start at each lair (but I find this that this mathod tends to still piss people off, and the leader rarely says yes)

Hope that helps, you better hurry up because you aren't going to have alot of time to grind with nades, pub 21 is coming very soon.

You cant. thats why its highly looked down upon in groups. unless they are willing to heal you and themselves for aggroing an entire lair.

I would honestly say don't do it. Unless you are in a group of friends or guildmates. If you think you MUST do it, then I guess make your intentions very clear to the group before you go out. Most will get pissed, I know I do. I hate pickup groups for that very reason. No offense to you, but every single pickup group I have been part of that had a 'nade tosser was terrible. At least if you make your intentions known before hand guys like me can leave the group before hand, and not wait until you wipe the entire group because we had no idea what you were doing.

Use the my first suggestion if you don't want to get killed. Wait until the lair has only one creature left in it, wait until you group members are attacking it, throw in a nade, press the Esc key alot so you don't attack it and not get full combat XP. This way the creature will not attack you.

If you are in a group that is hunting Bols or Pickets, the only DB you if you are incaped 3 time within 10 minutes, so you can try that second suggestion

one thing one of my alt did to grind FS boxes (tho he wasn't becoming jedi), was to take up the doc profession. People didn't mind letting him toss a nade at the start of each lair, as long as he kept everyone buffed up and rezzed if there were probs. Since we tore through the lair quicker they had no problem.

The only place that using grenades in a goup would be acceptable is if everyone in the group is aware and in agreement that they are helping you in this way. Any pick up group you find is not going to be understanding about that and they shouldn't be. Grenade use in groups is completely self serving. It has no positive effect on the group and the only way I have ever done that is with friends and guildmates when I asked them specifically to group with me to do it. I would do the same thing to them. In fact you frankly learn a lot about your guildmates grouping with them in this way becuase to do grenades right you have to have good teamwork and everyone has to pay attention to what is going on otherwise is becomes messy and chaotic in a hurry.

Don't know whey they're even bothering changing the exchange rate to 30:1, as grenades have already been nerfed, and not commonly used anyway, due to the reasons all stated in this thread.

No news is bad news, going by SOEs track record.

I suspect that Trader/Enteratiner will end up being worse off, and they're not saying anything, as people will quit because of it.

I'm going to quit when the sub runs out, and return if the revamps are worthwhile, unless knowledge of the revamps come before subs run out, and I like it, but I'm not going into day 1 of the new month, then the revamps get announced, and my char is shafted.

I disagree. I think they are widely used and using them makes achiving the xp needed for the village quests very very fast. My only complaint is that the net they are casting to fix it nerfs everyone who is trying to finsh their village quests not just those who are using grenades.
