Thread: ALL THE TIPS YOU NEED TO GET PHASE 3 COMBAT PROWESS DONE!

This is just going to be listed in point form... they're all very helpful.

Just a little bit of a preface.. Talk toCaptain Sagrillo, and accept the Combat Prowess quest. Kill sith that spawn 250m away from any sith base HERE . When you kill enough youll get a waypoint thing, to my knowledge this is unimportant... just go back to the captain and talk to him, he'll give you the wp to the base you got it from, then you need to go back and get frequencies by killing the same sith that spawn in a 250m radius from the base. You can get this from ANY base. Then when you get 5or 10 codes, hand them back in to the captain, and only use the ones that are the sith base closest to the village. You can't enter the base until someone disables the shields *via the frequency codes, just go into your inventory and click it, the menu will come up to disable the shields*. That person (who disables the shields)must kill 5 sith, then the commander spawns, you are on a time limit, so be quick. Run up to him and click him, then click Capture!

  • Get a bunch of shield remote frequencies before handing them in to the Captain.

  • Don't run any mission except to the CLOSEST SITH OUTPOST! *On Shadowfire it is Theta*, The next 2 close ones have a LOT of bumpy terrain and will probably result in your failure!

  • Try to get a couple extra people to help you... a doctor to revive/heal/buff is nice.

  • Only 2 people is required *in my opinion* but if you're trying without 2 People... you've gotta be like... superman or something.

  • Keep waypoints to the village and the sithbase active, this will help you know where you need to go, where you've been... etc... Just helped me a lot.

  • If you have no one to scout ahead for the flattest easiest path, then hit ctrl+M to watch the commander follow you, when he stops, turn quickly and make him follow you again!

  • Use shift+run (so that you walk) when walking the commander, and when you get to the flat part right before the village, run until you're 15m away from him, then walk until he catches up to you (he's 10m away at that point). The commander runs SLIGHTLY faster than you walk, so this will make him walk a little bit faster. It might only save you 30 seconds-1 minute... but that might be all you need to win!

  • Make sure you walk along the most rounded parts of the ditches and caverns, there are only a few spots where you can make the commander walk faster, but avoid all the steep walls. He seems to dislike climbing them.

  • I never had a problem with any of the sith attacks... but I hear some people do, meh just attack them as they come. The person walking can attack, but NEVER LOSE YOUR COURSE! Don't accidently walk the wrong direction for 200m.

  • Only 2 people will recieve credit for this if you do it properly, so make sure if you do have other groupies doing it, you stick around and help them.

  • When you walk in the village, just go slightly to the right.. the quest ends somewhere inside the village, not at the captain.

Using this method, I got it done on my first attempt.

Good guide, especially with the waypoints !

Tried it for the first time tonight, from the 2nd closest base, and did not make it, fell about 800m short, having the commander die of poison. It was on my head, as I had a hard time getting him moving out of the base, thru the early ravines, so I'll stand by anyone who says that the less of those, the better !

Did it with one other person, and I'll also agree, that it can be done with 2 people, very easily, provided that one of 'em is either a doctor or a combat medic. I'm sure it can be done with 2 otherwise, but having the healer with, made it very easy to disable the turrets, take down the shield, kill the 5 sith, and grab the commander, and be on our way.

Lookin' forward to go out tomorrow, and pray for the "right" datapad to drop, and hopefully try this quest again soon.....just wondering how long that closest base will be camped !

The above technique works as I completed the quest this morning with 20 minutes to spare. As I posted in another thread, here's how it went:

I was finally able to complete this quest today by using the closest base and getting there after server start. Turrets killed us the first time, ran back, took out turrets, dropped shield, took out gate, rushed inside, killed the sith that followed, took out inside gate, captured Commander. Then pulled out pet and had him follow the commander and did a combination walk/run back to the village. Kept the Commander between 10-15m from me and would run when he got to 10m until he got to 15m and started walking again. He would run up to me and then I would rinse, and repeat. I avoided ALL hills and had my friend kill any incoming Sith attacks. As soon as we got inside the walls of the village, I got a quest complete. We did this with 2 people, MBH/MR and MD/Smugglar. I kept a droid pet on follow on the Commander but don't know if this helped or not.

This would be the Omega Base on Bria

In the interest of helping people with this quest I'm going to go ahead and offer my route from the closest base to the village. This is a series of 10 waypoints and it is designed to offer players doing this quest the flatest route possible. There are no mountains to climb and thus no slowing down at all. This path is completely walkable at full walking speed and has worked for myself and many other people.

Please type in the following 10 waypoints and label them accordingly.

1) 5939, 122, -2007

2) 5706, 125, -2527

3) 5687, 62, -2622

4) 5642, 22, -2677

5) 5727, 30, -2938

6) 5741, 26, -3115

7) 5679, 36, -3347

8) 5605, 26, -3435

9) 5551, 71, -3534

10) 5528, 100, -3595

Now, I'll try to describe the path as much as possible. Waypoint #1 is the door to the closest base to the Village. You really don't have to keep this waypoint since #2 is where you need to get serious. Once you get the Commander move out and get yourself to waypoint 2 as quickly as possible.

When approaching waypoint #2 you'll notice right away the terrain is starting to slope downwards. This is a narrow crevice that leads down to the forest floor. Waypoint #3 is at the very top of the downward slope ending at waypoint #4 which is the bottom and beginning of the trees.

When traveling from waypoint #4 to waypoint #5 BE VERY CAREFUL! This is forest terrain and there are many trees and logs which the Commander can and will get stuck on. If the Commander gets stuck on the terrain there is a very good chance he will "warp" or "teleport" all the way back to the base. (If this happens and you have not reached waypoint #5 yet you DO have time to pull your bike/mount and rush back to the base to recapture him and then start over. This has happened to me on two seperate occassions and we were able to complete the mission in time still).

Ok, when you reach waypoint #5 you'll notice (in your Radar) that there is another crevice but this one snakes around a bit. Yes, this crevice does snake around and there will be a point where you are actually walking away from the village. DO NOT BE WORRIED! Just stick to the crevice bottom and avoid any trees that might be along the path and above all keep following this snaking crevice around to waypoint #6, which is at the center point of this crevice, then keep traveling around the winding path until you reach waypoint #7 which is the end of this particular crevice.

At waypoint #7 you will once again be in the forest. Again, BE VERY CAREFUL where you walk because this terrain can cause problems with the Commander. Pick your way to waypoint #8.

When you approach waypoint #8 you will notice (in your radar) that it's one large crevice with several small crevices leading upwards. You'll see waypoint #9 is marking the far right crevice. Walk your way up toward the crevice where waypoint #9 is and it's a smooth upward slope toward waypoint #10.

Right at you reach waypoint #10 (or possibly before) you will squeel in pure joy as the misty mists that enclose the Village will be present. And sure enough that tell-tale music will play indicating you just entered the village mist. You are home free, walk to the village and enjoy your new unlocked tree

******************

Test this path out for yourself before doing the mission. You may want to keep your overlay map up and zoomed all the way out so you can see the waypoints. Also, pay attention to your radar to both notice the terrain changes as well as pick up on any red/aggro in your path or approaching from behind.

Ideally, do this during the day since you will be able to see the terrain easier. Also, have a full group to deal with both the Sith that attack during your walk to the village and to clear away any spawned NPCs/Creatures.
