Hey all,

Just looking for a few opinions please. I have 5 unlocked and 2 branches left to fill which shud take me at current rate a couple of weeks to do at the most.

So of course I want to finish as quick as possible. But should I unlock survival now and complete in next 2 weeks or hold off another 2 months until phase 3 rolls around again for melee def?

Question really is -How good is melee def? Wud it make things noticably harder NOT having it? Is it REALLY worth holding on for....

Tx

You dont need it as the fs skills arent that needed, just unlock you can allways unlock that tree later, plus tkm+fencer will cap you on melee defense anyway when you unlock.

Keep in mind rumor is CU will stop defense stacking, so this plan may not work.

I'd suggest getting the survival tree now, unlock, and if you feel like you need the melee def pick it up later....I guess it comes down to what you want more, but don't let 1 tree stop ya.

I would say differently. You have to remember the big picture here, you will be a Jedi later on without TKM/Fencer to back up your Template so any defense would be worth having. As for waiting, i'm not sure if I would do it. It all depends on how patient you are I guess.

I agree with last poster, melee def is nice, how nice is up to you....but eitherway I'd unlock now, and get the exp for one more branch (ala melee def) for when that phase comes around again...that way you can just train it up and be done.

You just have to look at what you like beter and what will benefit you better asa Jedi. The Melee D tree will give you +20 to Melee D, which is invaluable in PvP as a Jedi, especially since there are quite a bit of Melee BH out there. On the other hand the survival tree also gives you another very usefll skill, and that is Terrain Negoation +5. I'd Suggest that if you plan on being a Force Run Jedi then go with the Melee D. If you dont plan in being a Force Run Jedi then go with the Survival tree. In the long run your really looking at trading mods for Skill Points. Force Run 1 Costs 8 skill point for the first box in that tree. Thats 8 SP you could be using for a more important Jedi Skill Box. Just my 2 cents . I was fortunate enough to be able to unlock both the Melee D and Survival Trees.

me too...

If I ever decide to go Jedi I have the Melee speed, acc, and all reflex lines unlocked with the exp to boot.

i have survival and i notice only a very small diference in terrain negotiation. if you even think that having terrain negotiation +5 will help you escape from a BH who has Burst Run and much larger Terr. Negotiation bonuses, i think you will find yourself mistaken....
But, if Survival would make 6 for you, then I'm guessing you have another combat related skill that you could drop later in favor of melee defense?

Simple replay from a Padawan

1)Melee def is sweet when you are among animals without your armor and you need over 100 to see all the animals missing you ... but but ... take a good pikatta pie and you will dodge as well

2)Survival is very nice. You can set a basic camp that is very useful for a jedi (?????). Yes your terrain negotiation +5 can be useful ... but if a BH comes he has over 40 (scout 4xxx) and if u haven't Force Run you are ready for a graveyard!

Please do this. Take 6 branches and kill mellichae as fast as you can. The rest is bantha cakes!

If you think +5 terrain negotiation isn't worth it you're mistaken...

you have plenty of SP when you enter paddy, and getting scout 4/0/0/0 yourself would not be a bad thing at all...pair this with FR1 (for when you hit water burst run dissappears) and you'll see just how much terrain negotiation is your friend

most JEdi i talk to say 4 sps for +20 melee def is priceless.....but i'm like you i wouldn't wait 2 mos...maybe another phase change but that would be it.

highly recommend picking it up later though

If you are doubting the power of melee def though (and ranged def) think of it this way....

melee def and ranged def in FS is +20...and edefender contains 2 lines for each of these also giving you +40 melee and +40 ranged def (2 seperate lines).

Having this +40 def to melee (or ranged or both) plus the 20 from FS gives you +60 defense vs melee or ranged

With stacking dissappearing at CU, +60 def to melee or ranged will most likely be damn good.

food for thought.
