stop crying buddy, we r damage dealers now, if u dont like this change there is other professions for you.
now we have a different role.
when was the last time u hit a jedi by 900dmg?.. well now u can.. so get use to it.

and yes, 929 was the exact dmg, and ofcourse it wasnt a master defender.. to a master defender the best i get is 520.. but still not bad. u just have to find a new template to feel confortable again... and convine roles if its necesary.
now, 1 single profession is not enough, u need 2 combat profession convined.

as was said: no single profession gives you everything you need.
the original poster seems pretty whiny to me...
at 300 melee/275 ranged defense, you should not be useless, unless you just don't know what you're doing, sorry.
to get to 300 melee defense you had to have stacked with 2 other professions -this should be giving you a lot of useful tools.
but i digress.
what you can take from fencer is improved lunge, cripple (which no other melee gets), the best melee bleed, the best action-suppression attack (bind), and blind - which no other melee gets. i haven't got my best bodyhit yet, so i can't compare the dmg to swordsman specials just yet.
TKM got the kickass innate/cob combination, pick that up if you want awesome defense (or just get impoved cob and wear battle armor). they do not have much in the way of damage. a good stun baton (mine is 495 modified dps and i'm not even master fencer yet) and fencer/sword/pike specials will deal more dmg than TKM specials.
swordsman got some decent attacks - critical, powerhit, headhit - a bleed, and the most useful - armorbreak. some decent defense and the powerhammer is good. for dealing dmg, it's probably the best unless you have an uber weapon in another prof.you get nothing except armorbreak (which is invaluable!) for 'suppressing' your enemy.noactioninhibitors, or debuffs.
pikeman has the same defenses as fencer, but trades blind, crippling, bleeds, and bind for warcry (it's not amazing by any means), intimidate (the basic one isn't amazing), some AE's (these can get you in trouble in pve), and some decently dmg'ing hits.
my point is, none of these professions is fantastic on its own. you need at least one more to give you some more specials and defense/offense numbers.
--i should add that i do think bleed dmg should be turned up, and that cripple should slow things down even more. each profession has some tuning issues, though. warcry and intimidate don't do a whole lot either, and the best TK knuckles are counting as '1hand' weapons.
and to touch on roots - they are beatable, and they are the only thing that make ranged at all viable against melee. i have yet to lose to a rooting-ranged opponent, but the fights are close, as they should be between a triple ranged master and a triple melee master. it all comes down to tactics, starting at food basics and working up to specials and Line of sight.
anyways, that's my personal opinion on the 'fencer being broken' thing. i don'tfeel it's as broken as the original poster makes it out to be.

as i mentioned at the end of my post, i agreed that Fencer isn't quite where it should be. But i don't think it's completely broken, i think it just needs tweaking. I liked your analysis -
