Thread: Supplementing Fencer

First of all, I'd like to state that my character is built with mainly PvE in mind, and some PvP.

So far I have noticed that Pistoleer seems to be the best way to go, as it gives + to dodge (which us Fencers love) that stacks onto our + to dodge. However, is that going to be nerfed soon? I would LIKE to be a Master Fencer as well as a Master <insert Ranged Profession here>.. but what am I going to be?

Dodge aside (lets say dodge is no longer stacked due to the patch), I was still thinking Pistoleer. This is done in order to maximize my ability to effectively use both my ranged profession (Pistoleer) and my melee profession (Fencer). Pistols target the health pool (health shot, body shot), and Fencer (body hit 3) target the health pool. Also Pistols have little Point Blank penalty.

RIfleman: They do a lot of damage to mind, but when my cover is blown, as a Fencer I would have trouble hitting the mind bar up close, and Riflemen miss a lot when the enemy is point blank.

Carbineer: I am not really familiar with this class. I think they do their damage to action mainly? This causes the same problem as Riflemen. If the enemy's action bar is heavily wounded, there is no way to finish them off (other than using luck and one-handed hit, of course. I don't really like risking my character's life by relying on luck to win a fight) The difference between Carbineer and RIflemen is that Carbineers don't suffer (as much? not sure) point blank penalties like Riflemen.

Oh yes. I would like to master Brawler as well, buut I'm not sure anymore now that Warcry is going to be changed. (Getting Unarmed 4, Two-Handed 4, Polearm 4 will be apain if I do it all for nothing!!) I would appreciate a reply with someone who could tell me if One-Handed Lunge 2 is worth it alone, and an easier way to get the 70k exp needed for Unarmed, Two-Handed, and Polearm 4...

OK back on track. Tell me what you guys think as to which ranged profession to choose. I think hybrids like BH and Commando are pretty much out of the question, due to the massive amount of skill points involved... and I want to keep my character a Master Fencer. After all, that WAS my goal from day one.

Defenses will still stack, although they will be hard-capped (at what, nobody knows), so I'd still go Pistoleer if you wanted the +Dodge bonuses (it also gives you an additional +40 melee defense).

With the upcoming nerf, warcry will definitely be useless, but Lunge2 is very nice, as it's the only Fencer KD. Intimidate2 is also nice, due to the longer timer. Also, you can't discount the other stat bonuses MB gives you to CoB, CoB efficacy, and melee defense. While not large, they do help.

I am planning on mastering Creature Handler in addition to fencer. I dont know about the efficacy, but I think the cool factor outweighs any disadvantages in my opinion.

If you go for pistoleer to compliment your fencing skills, you might want to think about going up Smuggler's Dirty Fighting.

It has a ranged knockdown with the pistol shot 'Low Blow' that is extremely valuable. Not to mention things like feign death or last ditch.

Example:

Master Fencer
Master Pistoleer
Smuggler 0/0/4/0

32 skill points remaining.

Master CH is not as fun or as useful as it seems. I am Master Creature Handler right now, and it isn't all that great for Fencing. It kinda lost its cool factor after I had to do a billion Enraged Rancor missions to get here.. lol. Also, they nerfed tanking so its... ehh now.

Pistoleer and Smuggler is a good idea, especially the ranged knockdown, I have considered that myself however since I wanted to be somewhat a PvP character as well I decided that I would just get Master Brawler instead of Smuggler, because that gives me a Melee Knockdown, as well as some more useful mods.

Does anyone have anything to say about Rifleman or Carbineer complimenting Fencer?

You know... I always loved that...

Master Fencer

Master Pistoleer

Smuggler 0/0/3/0

Teras Kasi 4/0/0/4

This gives you the ability to Force of Will, Meditate, and Powerboost as well as adding to your Ranged and Melee Defenses (But that's kind of overkill since you'll have hit the cap by then, I'm sure).

Looks like everyone hates those professions. Anyhoo, I have another question. How does one-hand lunge 1 differ from one-hand lunge 2? Does lunge1 even work on creatures? How often? Is lunge2 worth the points and time needed for Master Brawler (since warcry2 will be nerfed).

I have a friend who is mfencer, mrifleman and I think 4004 tka, although it is a really good combo in my eyes it will soon be nerfed (no more huge melee/ranged def) and this build is more oriented to pvp I think.

I always drool when thinking of Master Brawler / Master TKA / Master Fencer / Swordsman 0040 / Pikeman 0040 or Master Brawler / Master TKA / Master Fencer / Master Pikeman. Just for the coolness factor, obviously. Or I wouldn't have chosen Pikeman It also has nice defenses (first template viewable here: http://swgcb.yogn.net/report.php?PHPSESSID=b41a220a71c01d3d43c17160a753915b - second one here: http://swgcb.yogn.net/report.php?PHPSESSID=b41a220a71c01d3d43c17160a753915b ) though not as good as teaming it with Pistoleer. But the only ranged profession I ever liked was Rifleman, but stacking that with Fencer seems a little... like jumping the bandwagon Which I hate.

Anyway... yeah, guess that's what I have to say.
