Thread: I miss the old times (caution: may be controversial)...
lately, the fencer forums have been getting a bit more heated in attacks and defenses of people's posts. this is very disturbing to me. only days before i noticed this trend, i had commented on how unlike the fencer forum was from any other forum. perhaps i was missing something? or maybe it truly is a new development.
in any case, i've always found this a good place to go to toss out my ideas, if i ever had any. right now, i wouldn't dare suggest anything for fear of someone assuming that i was trying to say something i wasn't, or claiming that i was trying to take advantage of the game, or even accuse me of outright lying.
it's disappointing to have to realize that i can't be as open with the people who are suffering the same bugs as i am, or enjoying the same benfits.
so the question is, can we all maybe try to lighten up a bit? i've found myself wanting to make scathing comments quite a few times, i know it's human nature. none of us will be perfect. but it's a simple matter of realizing that everything should be an attempt to be constructive, not to show how another's idea or thoughts are not constructive.
yes, i know i sound like a hippie loser, and it may seem like chastisement, which makes me appear hypocritical. i can assure you that is not the design of this post. i don't feel i or anyone else should have to defend another's post (as i have a few times).
i am of course open to criticism of these ideas. you may also "flame" me if you find this warrants such behavior. we're the best of Star Wars: Galaxies (as i see it). let's keep it that way.

But seriously, I haven't noticed a 'downhill' trend on this forum...but then again I only read the topics that I find interesting, plus I tend to save my 'ranting and raving' for the SWG Discussion board ...but even then that's kind of rare as I am a fairly mellow girl. That is...unless I had a day like that last big patch day...then oh boy watch out...you don't want to upset this Tran...
as i said before, don't assume i'm attacking. i know more than a few people have just arrived, T 900, don't take it personally. i refuse to point fingers because i'd have to point at myself, too.
as to the comment that i should be drug out in the street and shot? maybe so. but you can see why i'm not to excited to share my ideas when people respond like that. granted, i still do, but i don't feel that statement couldn't have been said in a more constructive manner. such as: why is it so stupid? it states an observation and a proposed solution. how about showing how my conclusion was incorrect, or showing me a better way to fix it? i suppose dragging and shooting would do that. but it's not very viable.
furthermore, i don't deny that i might be a "bad, bad person" for thinking these things, but what makes that a bad thing? that i feel like people might be a little edgy? i feel like you only confirmed everything i was writing about.
not to say i'm bent out of shape, EasyMcRhinopants. i just would like to hear more of your opinion than the surface thoughts.
again i apologize to you T900 for making you feel that way. that was definitely not my intent. i can say you've submitted some neat and different ideas, just like everyone else here. please don't feel that way due to me.
Slaskia, you may be right. it might just be me. i know we all get upset sometimes, but it can't be that hard to control yourself when you have a chance to review your post before submitting.

The best way to combat this: We take our forum elsewhere and host it privately and hide in there all day being elitist pigdog scum!
Then we won't have to strain our eyes and brains trying to read Guddy's posts...

Let's all (me included) use this post as a warning flag to take a second look at what we intend to post before we submit it. If the primary reason for our post is to put someone down, or flame them, or insult them then there is no real reason to post it. If you feel you simply cannot liveout your life without reply to some flame on the boards, then just reply with a "That's an interesting viewpoint,"rather than some juvenile response. You haven't insulted or complimented them that way, but you have expressed that you probably don't feel the same way they do about something that is subject to opinion. If you have a real beef with someone PM them and keep it between the two you. Posting flames inour forum doesn't help anyone, and helping each other is supposed to be the primary function of this board. Let's return to the Fencer-style posting that normally permeatesour forum.
