Thread: TKM -> Fencer

I know there is a lot of chatter about TKM's being WAY better than every other Melee class. Well I am a TKM and have been for the past 4 months (except when I got depressed with the Holocron mess and quit out a bit, but the 900k Unarmed exp in reserve helped regain my status).

I thought I would start this thread and update it as I progress through Fencer to give everyone a different perspective from the TK point of view.

Last night:

I began the Fencing journey after a 2-hour "Peace-Keeping Presence" in Tyrena. It started by looting a friend's house (who hasn't been around in about a month) of all his spare fencing equipment. Thank god he was a pack-rat. Although his weapons were crappy they tided me over until I could get the 8 more from a Master Weaponsmith in my PA.

I started off having 10 minutes of pure fun as I relived my newbie days slaying Butterflies, Durnis, and Gubburs.

After that I hopped to Bela Vistal to do High End Imperial Missions. With the help of a nice little exploit a Commando and Intelligence Case put me at enough Exp for One-Handed 2.

Cheer: Combat Animations are really fun to watch, and much more exciting than Ranged Specials! But I can't say much for anything else because I am slow as crap, the aforementioned NPC's took 2-3 minutes of whacking to finally kill.

Jeer: The Combat Animation is NOT fun to watch when fighting a flying opponent and your upper torso vibrates! Although it is kinda funny the more you drink....

After the patch to melee, Blademasters should be able to stand up to TKM.

The attic was less to us from the cellar the bones like the attic let them have it let them stay in the attic. When they sometimes come down the stairs at night and stand perplexed behind the door and headboard of the bed brushing that chalky skull with chalky fingers with sounds like the dry rattling of a shutter. Thats what I sit up in the dark to say.

we might have mroe of a chance against a TKM than before but still not equal

take for example pure dps

their vibro knucs are about the same in stats as our vibro blade

they get a ton more speed skill mods, enough (i think to hit the cap on any special) we do not

they also have 250 damage added to the damage of the vibro knucs (that si 250 extra dps)

thay can attack any HAM pool

we cannot

thay have unarmed stun, i have been told, that being stunned doubles the amt of damage taken

thats 500 extra dps

we do not

sure you can say "jsut use a gaffi stick instead of a crap vibroblade" gaffi sticks dont do 250 more damage per hit than a vibro blade, even when getting a 35% dmg slice, they also have a spd of 3.5, and no armor piercing

"use a stun baton" composite armor can have stun coating

I will remove all of my clothes to hit you better! Nudity saves!! Armor and Clothes kills!! I will laugh as you kite me, since you do not know the glory of the naked butterknife/stick wielder! Your pets will whine and cringe, licking at my unshod feet just before they DB me and still I will laugh! Why?! They are naked and do not wield a butterknife or carry a stick! Only a fool does not fully follow the true path of the Fencer! Long live nudity, sticks and butterknives!!!

well no a 30% dmg sliced gaffi i roughly 170-287 dmg and the 3.5 spd. Master Fencer will spd cap this weapon everytime on anymove. Foot4 will not however but master will.

With that being said ten yes a Master Fencer is still lowe on dps but not as bad as you say. Any weapon in the Fence line at 3.5 spd or lower will spd cap on any special at master rank.

Still will be nice to see te upcoming changes cause then ill have a fresh weak of nothing but duels lol

I outdamage TKA, when I duel a Master TKA with KD, it's usually 50/50. without KD, I'll win evertime. TKA's deffinalty don't have us beat. On top of thatthey can't do a 300+ dmg pvp bleed.

I hate when some peeps post and they do not know anything. Anyways TKM are better than us not by a lot though and comp dousnt have a good stun coating if any most comp armor dousnt have any stun coating. Unless the are wearing ubese i would recomend using a stun baton against armor wearing TKM's.

we got bleeding attacks.... so in the end we may not do as much... but we can make them bleed

but of course so can a TKM with skills in other melee classes :x

Night 2:

Tonight I decided to test my Fencing mettle out against some enemies that hit back (and in the process ended up staying up way too late). It was Huurton hunting on Dantooine.

We hunted Stalkers and Huntresses, and I teamed up with a Master Swordsman (working on Unarmed tonight), and my TK apprentice!

Later on we were joined by a Pistoleer-Creature Handler and Pikeman hopeful (working on Polearm 3) after the TK left.

Here is my lesson of the night....Beserk is fun and easy to use. We had a challenging, but enjoyable evening (ending up 1/4 way to Novice Fencer).

Cheers: The variety of weaponry thus far! (bear in mind I come from VK's or no VK's), that gives me the ability to switch to high damage/low speed, high speed/low damage, or low HAM. Thus far I am using a second-hand Curved Sword primarily (70-165, 1.8 Speed).

Jeers: To the Swordsman who took my Gaffi Baton so HE could get some One-Handed Experience! Although he did get Unarmed 4, and One-Handed 1-3.

I plan to PvP as a Novice Fencer against my TK apprentice...he is 0-1-3-1 right now, and I will be 0-0-0-3. We will see.

Day3

As with most Saturdays I played on and off while doing some chores, primarily trying to crank out enough Experience to Train Novice Fencer.

Seeing as not many of my crew were around I did a quick PvP sweep of Tyrena and Coronet, then back to Bela Vistal for some Imperial missions (Money, Exp, and Faction in one fell swoop)!

Seeing as how I just got One-Hand IV trained the other night I decided to test out my skills against these NPC's (Rebel Surface Marshalls, Commandos, and Intelligence Cases). And overall I was impressed...now certainly not as good as I would be Unarmed, but I held my own and was able to crank out in a couple of hours enough Exp from those missions to make Novice Fencer.

Cheers: For having a Weapon with Armor Piercing! Just found that out. And for having a Dizzy-Attack so early on in the lines.

Jeers: From looking at the grand scheme I will have a lot less One-Handed toughness, but I am thinking Dodge will counterbalance this...if not now then with the patch. We shall see.

The weapons I am using right now are as follows...

Curved Sword: 1.8, 70-165, 23/50/34

Gaffi: 2.6, 130-201, 62/37/18

Vibro: 1.8, 37-135, 16/28/16

Rykk: 2.5, 81-196, 53/43/38

Stun Baton: Yet to Acquire one...Gemstone hasn't appeared for 2 months on Wanderhome allegedly.
