  • What kind of group role should a Fencer typically serve?
  • What kind of battlefield (mass PvP) role should a Fencer hold?

  • Offensive, defensive, support?? Please list your thoughts, ideas good links to threads posted prior to now. My personal thoughts are to make Fencer more defensive

In terms of PvP, all melee fighters have no place in a battlefield - they get taken down too fast while trying to catch up to a target. However, strategically they could wait inside a base until members of the opposing faction try to shut down the base.

More defensive, the upfront leaders who slash away at people and dodge everything lol

In a group, a fencer is a tank, plain and simple. That's working pretty well now.

In PvP, a fencer does best in close quarters (inside), and serving as close support/protection for the rear-line support troops (Riflemen, Combat Medics, and Docs). In a medium-to-largish PvP scenario, the long range combat types need guarding while they deal death to opposing troops on the front lines. Docs also need guarding when they have to run into the midst of battle to drag corpses back out to the rear for revival and rebuff.

    That's also working pretty well.

Actually when i think about a fencer as a tank i think that he's more of the kind of "tank" that doesn't get hit, aka dex fighter.

So give us more melee/ranged defense and dodge, and not that much toughness.
(a fencer taking a shot, should get hurt, imo)

TKA imo is more of the toughness kind of tank. For gods **** they're hitting armored opponents with theyr fists =)

But since they're putting a cap on defensive stats (publish 7 notes) that might put fencers at the cap already, and we'd have to dabble in TKA(again =P) to get the defense we need...

I think not tank in taking hits but dodging. We should have forms of dodge counter and block, depending on weapons of ours and opponents, however when we do rarely get hit we should break like the fragile people we are. (speed not muscle)

Occupy the TKA's and other quickmovers passively so that the rest of the group is safe.

We should be able to immobilize someone. (stab them here and there so it hurts to move) and break away faster. Use a method to get us in close or away faster.

Our role in a group should be either, immobilize so the group can crowd control and finish off, or assassin, take out that SINGLE target fast. (tis would be against the slower ones, quicker would actaully be epic defensive duels)

They should basically be able to tank, hold things off etc.

What kind of battlefield (mass PvP) role should a Fencer hold?

Ok, a fencer should be able to charge down a battlefield without getting hit at all, then collide with the enemy and chop them down. Fencer should be one of the"quick" fighters. They should take down an enemy quickly and cleanly or die.

The should be able to dodge everyting but when they do get hit, they really pay for it. In one on one PvP the fencer should be very good, hence the title, "duelist". Blinds, Dizzies, KD but also be able to deliver hard-hitting attacks, that are quick. The fencer should be a quick soldier who takes people out quickly and 1 by 1. Since the fencer should have good dodge, they should be able to emerge from a fight, whether 1 on 1 or group, with little or no damage, therfore being able to quickly move on to the next fight, without worrying about any bad damage recently taken. Fencers should also be able to take on the defensive role when neccesary. They should be able to nail a good KD in order to defend someone.

  • What kind of group role should a Fencer typically serve?

  • They are the guys who Dance about the group and give support to all the other members. they jump in and out dodging attacks while the gunmen shoot the enemy. They use accurate shots to disable enemies (not KD but disable in other ways) And yeah i agree they are very hard to hit but if you hit them they take big damage.

  • Defensive "Last line of defense" right at the back elite guards that stop the enemy before they hit the boss/mission critical thingy

I personally think that Fencers should be more 1v1 and do very well at it. With delay effects and such. In a battle, a Fencer should be given a order to kill a specific person and be able to compleate the task. While if he is paired against 3 others he would die fast.

Yeah, as yo say Chaser, they should be very good at 1vs 1 , hence we have a title of Duelist.

thats a good point, kind of like the battlefield assasin,

for instance (s)he can manovour and dodge very well until (s)he reaches the target and takes the target out,

    i like that idea

yes, the fencer should be VERY good one on one but be in trouble in uneven odds. As i said, heh, we have a title Duelist.
