I'm planning to go Fencer/Doc, I already am a Master Doc, now it's time to head out of the med center I was just wondering are Fencers any good with PvE? I have a TKA friend that's going to hunt along with me and I've heard TKAs are monsters when it comes to PvE, can Fencers at least be hold thier own against TKAs? Or are the TKAs the ultimate PvE machine? I don't want to be getting all the crappy XP as my friend starts up the ladder without me :/

Thanks

In my opinion fencer isnt that good at PvE. Ive tried outdamaging TK before and in no way could I do it, they just hit too hard too fast. In fact as a fencer TK was probably my biggest enemy. Fencer is really more of a PvP anti-marksman skill in my opinion. If it wasnt for the stun baton fencer would really just be a slower TK thats not as tough. A TK/Doc can take a non master brawler master fencer out (assuming you dont have doc as well) very quickly because their skill automatically gets Knockdown.

As far as PvE goes TKM is extremely effective against things just bigger than what a fencer can handle- about 12-16k HAMs unarmored. Rifleman and Swordsman are really much tougher at PvE for they hit for huge sums of damage and have higher armor peircing to make it even stronger. I suggest Swordsman personally for PvE because once you get characters with medium armor TK cant touch them any more than fencer. As far as PvP in conserned Ive actually seen fencers loose to swordsman a great deal- usually because they both have extremely high armor resists and the swordsmans stronger weapons hitting the mind will about ruin you.

Fencer is more of a tanker with stun damage- TK is a stronger, tougher, faster tanker without stun damage- Swordsman is a tough, slower, hard-hitting tanker without a reliable dizzy to send NPCs and players back to the floor after a sweep. What Combo would be nice? Mix and match 2 of the 3 and you will kick booty with high level medic.

I'm in exactly the same situation that you are in. I'm a Master Doc and I'm a novice Fencer 1/1/0/1. I've gone to Dantooine to hunt Queckers to get XP. You need to get composite armor, buffed and bring Vasarian Brandy with you. Make sure you've got either a gaffi baton or a stun baton. I can handle 4 Queckers at one time by myself. My friend, who's a TKA master can do tons of damage, so I usually do my missions alone to get all the XP. The problem with TKA is that he can only deliver kinetic damage. IF he runs up against something that's highly resistant to kinetic, he's in big trouble. At least with a fencer, you've got the stun baton. I'm not sure about this, but I think a fencer is harder to hit than a TKA.

If you're looking to do serious PvE then you want TKA and not Fencer. But if you'll also be doing a decent amount of PvP along with the PvE, then you might want to pick up Fencer. I suggest trying out Fencer and then if you're outmatched by your TKA buddy, just switch to TKA, instead. At least that way you'll be trying your desired profession first.

They must be really novice, sorry don't want to flame anybody, just want to set the record straight. I am a CH/swordman. I am on 2443 in swordman, and I can take out the entire lair of pickets in minutes if I don't want to get XP for CH by sending my pet in. With swordman's area attack and spin, you can hit all enemy around you at all 3 pools. However, a lot of swordman like to attack the mind pool only, so it seem like slower? however, swordman can only truly shine when you get to the master though. If skill point available, I recommend you to take defend line of fencer and Master swordman. Since you're a doc, you don't really need the meditate line of TKA, w/ defensive line of fencer, you will do decent in PvP, as for PvE, AP3 of power hammer will rock your world

It's totally possible that they just didn't know how to fight, which would explain it. Then again, the ratio seems about right. If I'm fully fresh and run into a lair, I've done them as quick as 2 min, and that's only slowing down because of the lair itself. If it takes longer, then that would run out.

I'll agree that the TKA Meditate line will be useless for you if you're not going TKM. Unless you go all the way up it for Force of Will, which will revive you from Incapacitation. It can be useful, but meditate itself just doesn't cut it with buffs, Brandy, and Canapé.

Maybe a little off subject but. I heard TKMs were getting another damage type (heat VKs i think)

With two damage types and armor getting nerfed, no more 80% kenetic.

TKMs will be alot tougher pvp and pve. Just something iv been thinking about.

btw ...im master brawler master fencer, working on master swordman

Just a quick question while we're off the subject here. What's more important in PvP, +dodge or +knockdown/stun/blind/dizzy

Thanks for the replies, and sadly yes, I am outdamaged by my friend, but I think I might be going swordsman and a little bit a fencer instead to get the evade bonuses, I've heard swordsmansfare better than TKAs in PvE, can anyone confirm that?

My New chara is a Master fencer, no other skills apart from a bit of rifle, I dont wear armour when playing PVE, with Buffs, Brandy and COB i very rarely get hit. If your using COB you very rarely get hit by bleed, poison etc too.

If i go on guild hunts to the high level stuff i don't wear amour either, just my trusty tusken outfit. TKM is very good at dealing damage, but as a Master fencer you will hardly get hit, as long as you use dizzy, blind etc , even more so if you have master brawler.

hope this helps.
