Thread: Weapons ( Future of Fencer )

I say we need a cooler looking katana, or whatever it's called in-game. I forget what it is.

We could use rapiers too, with armor piercing.

  • What kind or style of weapons would you like to see Fencers use?
  • Do you have ideas for how future certifications should be spread out?

  • What kind of HAM cost dispersal should a Fencer's weapon typically have?

  • These two have both to do with weapons, many ideas have come into the fencer community, I would like to see people post honest oppinions, links to posts from the past and then finally put up a vote for what the community likes best.

    i really like the weapons we have available to us, the gaderiffi baton especially (I really like it for some reason). My only gripe is that we have no light armor piercing except for the vibroblade and that really isn't very good.

    oh yeah and attacks should have low ham because we should be fast and stuff, not get killed by ourselves and there should be a blademaster weapon, as a reward for us when we make master fencer

    Well, personally, I do enjoy the weapons we have thus far. The rantok does need some work, but personally, I'd like to see the straight sword raised up again in the form ofa vibrosword. Or considerDarth Tyranus, aka Count Dukuu, who was skilled in an older lightsaber artreferred to as Fencingthat was more apt for melee combat being composed of quick movements within a short distance, whereas the lightsaberswordsman skills were more prone to wider, elongated movements for blocking blaster shots.Consider a weapon with a curved handle similar to Dukuu's lightsaber made of wood or metal, with a thin straight blade. Give it a nasty sting, with low HAM costs and superb speed, and you have the blademaster's weapon, or make it a cert at the same level as the swordman's scythe.

    I enjoy our current selection of weapons. I believe the Vibroblade should be extended in length (it looks like a wussy dagger). I also believe that we rely too heavily on the graffi sticks. Think about it. We are FENCER. We don't use wooden stick thingies to fight!! We use swords. If the stats on the graffi sticks were to be switched with Rykks, then THAT would be nice. We could use a poking/jabbing weapon (change the curved sword, nobody uses that anyways...lol) like real fencing. Also, the stun baton needs a little bit of BAM. As I read in the other post, maybe some glowy lightning stuff or something.


    As for our HAM costs, I think we should wait till the patch to discuss it. I don't think this bothers me too much anyways. The stun baton has higher ham costs for a reason. (Stun damage, no one has resists to).


    For the customization idea.. I would think thats very hard to impliment in terms of coding (it would probably be much easier to add a few new weapons.... from my experience with coding, anyhoo)


    As for the order that we get the weapons.. it should probably be sword, graffi stick & curved sword, vibroblade, rykk blade (if the stats of graffi stick and rykk are switched like I said above), and rantok sword. It would be nice if the Rantok was craftable and had AP=)

    In adding weapons what must be thought about is the fighting style that accompanies each weapon. things like rapiers may do more precise concentrated damage in a stabbing motion, whereas the gaderffi baton is more club like (cant poke someones eye's like a rapier would. . Likewise the baton is one that blocks may be possible, whereas a rapier may break.


    In application certain weapons (which there should be many) should allow for certain attacks and modify each individual's attack/defense mods. This allows for ranges of defensive fencers (or any proffession) to aggressive ones. It also make unlimited strategies over when to switch weapons and such. Combat can become more than a TKA spamming spitting rawl or a pistoleer on stopping shot.


    We can use weapons that affect defenses against ranged over melee, allows us to be shot less, but dont get caught with one equipped against another melee.



    Also has anyone suggested one time throwing weapons. guve me a crate of a couple hundred throwing knives, stars, axes, etc. So i can actually deal damage while being kited

    you guys are silly, kiting is a part of the game...and lightning out of a sword? come on...hes asking for honest opinions.

    some of these guys had a point, 'fencer' weapons would be nice, perhaps an offhand dagger (i cant remember the name of it in medevil times but they used it to catch others swords and for additional blocking) or a rapier like peircing weapon (ap2?, with its needle like tip) with low damage, but fast attack speed.

    the ham costs around are very balanced i would say, with stun baton..you pay for what you get , and maybe its because im always buffed but i find i can spam styles even at 0201 fencer, quite fast even

    Low damage and fast attack speed doesn't mean much when anyone with footwork 4 can reach the speed cap for every weapon we have, I would like an AP style thrusting weapon, hrm hrm Rapier, 200 base dmg when made and experimented by master weaponsmith, 3.0 speed so it doen't give too much an advantage to those who dont have footwork 4, maybe 3.2 /shrug.
