What weapon do you think about when you say Fencer. Obviously the Rapier. Aye they seem like a little too pretty weapon, but for what our Profession is supposed to be its perfect. Lower ham costs, none too high damage ( its for poking people) and TKA style speed.

You can also branch off that for the "Broadsword". Not the big two handed beast everyone thinks about, but the larger flat bladed Rapier. A little slower, little higher HAM costs and some pretty wicked Damage.

Plus it would look sweet for us to have (if possible) and ornate weapon. These are only a few ideas. Seemed logical to me.

Power hath descended from Thy hand;that our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command.
So we shall flow a river forth to Thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be.

Beautiful ornate rapiers like these: http://www.swordsofhonor.com/swelhilrap.html

Check out the longsword (bottom picture) on this site: http://mac9.ucc.nau.edu/~wew/scotland/

BTWHow about changing our beginning title from Novice Swordsman (so often confused with Heavy Swordsman) to Novice Swashbuckler? You like it, don't you?

  • What kind or style of weapons would you like to see Fencers use?
  • any kind of 1 handed sword type of weapon from a gladius ( roman short sword ) rapier's , saber's , long swords , chinese broads swords , basicly any fourm of a BLADED weapon longer then a knife
  • Do you have ideas for how future certifications should be spread out?
  • i think they should be spread out across the bottom four box's of the fencer tree with 1 new one at novice box
  • What kind of HAM cost dispersal should a Fencer's weapon typically have?

  • I think the lowest ham cost on our weapons should be the mind cost thats where we are hit the hardest at using COB and haveing our weapon hit us hard in the same area of ham would be over board on our mind use

OK, first of all, I'll say again that fencer isnt meant to be like guys in white suits with little whip swords. Its just sword-fighting with 1-hand.

What kind or style of weapons would you like to see Fencers use?

I don't have a problem with the gaffi stick, I just think that it shouldn't be our best weapon, besides being one of the first weapons certified to us. Ryyk Blade should have the highest damage output, a lower speed, higher ham cost. It should be the most damaging weapon possible, yet slow . This should be like in the mid 300's unsliced, and be able to acheive about 400 dmg. through work, but as i said probably 4.0 - 5.0 speed or so, and make what you want out of the HAM costs.

The curved sword's general layout is good but; It should maybe be one of our best weapons, it seems like the most fitting "fencing" weapon. VERY low speed with about 200 dmg. for a good one. Really low ham costs. Stun Baton needs work: As it has been said, it wuld be cool to get sound+visual effects on contact with the baton. Maybe a sort of ionic splatter when it contacts, and a sound like the ion rifle perhaps? The baton should maybe get a boost in dmg. I think It should be decent dmg and in-the-middle speed. As for a blademaster weapon, I suggest the electro-blade(call it what you want) Just a sword doing electric damage. Very good damage,300 dmg being crappy, and fairly good speed. This would be cool, as long as it did good damage. make what you want of the ham costs, most wouldnt care too much if we got one. But it would have a cool visual electricity effect in fighting, and audio too.

Do you have ideas for how future certifications should be spread out?

I don't have a lot of thoughts on this. Many would love a blademaster weapon. Gaffi stick and the Rantok should be adjusted a little. Since the Rantok is so rare right now it should maybe be moved back a bit, and the gaffi should be put in the #4 slot.Makes sense since its the best weapn right now.

What kind of HAM cost dispersal should a Fencer's weapon typically have?

Fencer's are supposed to deliver quick, clean, precise attacks as opposed to broad, energy-wasting tactics. They should have low HAM costs.

i think we have some nice blades if they were just more useable....revamp some of the current blades so that people have a wider choice of what to use than just seeing every fencer with a gaffi or stun baton...make the ryyke blade more of a blademaster thing...it's a pretty weapon to bad no one likes it cuz it's useless...and i like the idea of a rapier, has a nice sound to it. maybe the spark stuff you want to see could happen when a stun baton actually goes through armor...that way u would know if the armor has stun protection or not...if u don't get the spark...ur not getting through the armor, time to switch weapons(not even sure that is codeable but cool idea). is ap1 good? are there higher ap weapons in the game? i was so disappointed when i finally got my vibroblade...a puny little dagger ...neeeds to be bigger.

i'm still learning all this...and learn alot by reading what u all say here....so thanks for all the info.

A Vibrorapier would always be nice for the master fencer box with stats close to the gaff but with some sort of ap on it. I would like to see duelwielding implemented so if you want more damage you lose defence and if you wanted more defence you lose some of your offence so it would give us more variety. I would also like to see more conponets in the making of swords like rancor teeth but a lot of different kind of animal teeth because lets face it all animals have teeth. So i think a master ranger should be able to loot any animals teeth. I alsowould like to see Different cosmetic look for swords based on the materials it was made out of.

Now allthough running around with a rapier at master would be nice, but why should you have to be a master to use a rapier? It should be something hard to use, not just a cool weapon. Wouldn't make sense if not.

  • As I said before, I want to see the rapier and dagger combination and a foil.

A rapier & dagger should be pretty high up there in the fencers certification levels since in my opinion it'd be an ultimate thing.

I like the Tusken Raider staff because it has a low mind cost and high everything else, so that if a fencer is buffed his mind is the least of his worries.

I dont like the dagger idea, we are meant to be using swords. I know thats not written anywhere but it would look kinda stupid. Plus, if you reay wnat a dagger, just use the vibro-blade. If its possible, if we get a rapier thing of some sort, we should put it at level 4 footwork. Seems to make sense, its the high level of actual fencing agility.I just don't know if they would do that, no other prof. has a weapon certification halfway through. But I don't think they would care, if we would be reasonable about it, and requested that, they probably would. As opposed to saying that it should be level 3 in brawler.

OK, I'm thinking, that if we want new weapons, we are probably gonna need to get rid of some. There would be whining if we had more weapons than others. So if we ask to replace one weapon with another they will probably be more willing to do it thanadding another on the list. I think we need to have that in mind and see what ones we would like to get rid of for a replacement if it comes to that.

i would like to see alot more vibro weapons, because its SW like, alot of people in the SW universe collects vibro blades. So a vibro rapier (not a coil =P) and maybe a vibro short sword Gladius-like. (someone drew a really cool one in the weapon thread link above) The old Republic had alot of roman style armor and weapons.. (empress Teta era) so it would make sense too =)
