ThingsI have so far,

Offhand Shields, with variety. perhaps some archaic some pulse fields, but I assume all visible in some way yes?

Offhand weapon (even if for parrying use only, perhaps as a cert way up the fencer tree.)

Disarm attack

Temporary TEF hideing state. (the demonstrative ability to hide the fact that you might be aggresive. My solution to evening out the ranged vs Melee distance factor.) Simply activate this state and you no longer appear red on your enemies radar, no other effect.

Hold the horse just one second.

Wouldn't it be more logical to balance the current set of things out before adding more? The above that you have listed are additions, which from a design standpoint only tends to complicate things even further, but not nessecarily bring balance to the game. The suggestions, while they sound really cool, are unlikely for implementation (the word is: improbable).

I can see where you're coming from as the brawler classes all need a good balance against ranged, so how about you work with the brawler correspondant Spaz_Hairlip as well for balance ideas, then extend them for the fencer's needs and demands?

I like the suggestions Minerunner. The ideas I have are purely visual.

1. The unarmed have red flow lines, I as a fencer would appreciate the lines when my sword zips around too.

2. Show the sword on out side/back when not equiped.

3. A variety of different blade designs for Rykks, Curved and Vibro blades.

Any graphical enhancement to one of these areas would be appreciated. Thanks, and congratulations again as our spokesperson!

Actually that is a list compliled from other peoples posts with one addition from me.

Beyond asking people to list their damage outputs with their weapon (type of blade and stats of blade) with their weapon accuracy skill, against specific monsters. There isn't much Ican do regarding addressing specific ballance issues, without access to the Developer's statistical breakdown. But I will be posting my request for your statistical breakdown very shortly.

If anyone has any ballance related suggestions please feel free to add those.

I will add to the...

Investigate if there is indeed actually a softcap on Defensive Skill bonuses at 50ish.

Yes I've longed for other visible sword designs even if the statistics are the same as preexisting swords.

I will ask if they plan on putting in a "at peace" weapon position such as back or waist sheath. but that will also be very very welcome.

Just a few comments here...

If we do get red tracing for our weapons like unarmed, please include the ability to turn them off in our client. I hate the way that those sorts of things ruin the immersion, and I don't want to see it happening to my sword. Or, for that matter, any other meleer...

We could really use a /stick command that keeps us in tighter to the person we're pursuing. Our foes can shoot at us on the run with no difficulty - the least we should get is the ability to follow them closely enough to get our own hits in. It's pathetic that a monster has no trouble chasing me down and hitting me as we go, but I can't do that to a rifleman who's proceeding to kite me and blow my brains out...

Why in the world is our to hit modifier at point blank range negative? Aren't we supposed to be good at hitting things close to us? If it was negative at extreme weapons range, sure - but when we actually physically overlap our target?

More weapons graphics would be nice. More versions of swords and blades of all kinds would be rather nice, especially if it would be possible to add blades with serrated back edges...

I'd really like to see more support for original techniques in all of the melee lines. I had this idea last night watching lightsaber duel near the end of The Phantom Menace, and it strikes me as a good one that would go a long ways toward making meleers unique:

Crafters have experimentation, which allows them to set the qualities of an item to some extent. A low level item can only be modified so far, but the range of flexibility for that item is pretty wide. I'd like to see experimentation for meleers as well.

I hate seeing my character always execute the exact same animation for each and every move, and know by watching other brawlers near me exactly what move they're using. It gives us all an extremely cookie cutter feel, and I don't like that much. So why not let us build our own moves, using the techniques or styles line from each melee profession to grant levels on it? There's an existing bank of animations available. There's a list of effects and damage scalings as well. Add in a speed modifier and defensive modifiers, and you have strong potential for flexibility.

So now, each of us could go into the fight with a customized style that reflects our weapons and nature. If a Pikeman wants to use the spin animation for Fencer to look like Darth Maul in TPM, they can. If I as a Fencer want to steal an animation from the TKA tree to accompany my sword use, I'd be able to. All of us would emerge with completely unique styles and the cookie-cutter effect would be removed.

I figure that this is possible, given the existing of crafting modifiers for just about all of the items in the game. It would make the melee professions simply amazing to play if we had this capability - it'd go a long ways toward keeping me interested for the foreseeable future...

hers my idea. these are for expansions so i dont expect to see them anytime soon but it might be cool if they were added. The first one really tells the importance of them from the current moment.

1. Adumarian Blastswords. Wes Janson said it best "its gun you have to hit a person with."its a piercing style weapon from the expanded univers one of the actual confirmed sowrds in the universe not too mention the planet that makes them are obssesed with sword fights. Maybe we should add in the planet too

2 To keep fencer and other profession up to date with expansions there should skills of training in game that give extra abilities once a person has reached master of that profession. These extra abilities would of course cost skill points. Also a player should only be allowed to train in one school.

thats it for now. I will keep a look out for balance issues other than the already noted range running away from us ( cowards)

Ok here is my list. Some of the items have been listed by others, but I will just repeat them to show my support of them too.

1. A very good question is why we have negative range bonus when standing next to our targets as brought up above. I am not neccesarily looking fora fix, but I am looking for an explanation as why and how it effects us. I am sure a lot of brawlers are wondering the same thing.

2. Another general brawler problem, when running away. Yes sometimes it is neccesarry to run! When you dodge a blaster bolt, the dodge animation goes into effect and the character stops running and thus loses ground. This has cost me my life, and I think it needs to be looked at. (To prevent this I have to switch and run with a pistol. Which really doesn't make sense for a fencer.)

3. I am also very interested in getting more information on the bonus caps and how much they actually make a difference.

Thats all I can think about for now.

decrease ideal range

make dodge as useful as counter attack by increasing the + modifiers per skill box

and my last point is for the game entirely to balance PvP

make out of sight mobs PC's NPC's not appear on the radar,

the combination of (Auto-defend) &(inability to attack when moving) is the biggest issue to me.I can't count how many time my character has stopped running to auto-defend, and stopped attacking a near death yellow to auto-defend/attack a full health green.

Possible Solutions:

A. gain the ability to attack when moving

B. auto-defend is turned off during burst runs

C. auto-defend is turned off when engaged in combat

D. a auto-defend on/off toggle

other Issueis that weapons have too mucheffect, the devs use to say that there will be no uber weapons and that skill would be the determining factor, apparently they forgot that. and now your only as good as your weapon.

Why? What valid reasoning do you have behind this? The only classes that doare rifleman and rangersbecause of the camoflauge related to those two professions. Get some scout and you can beat the guy up a hill. If it is urban combat know the city so you can ambush take shortcuts and dodge behind buildings.

Hello all. First off I would like to say congrats to Minerunner. Secondly I would like to state that I have seen some "good" suggestions and some not so good. I love my fencer and to help balance out against ranged, I did 2 things: 1) Became a master scout. (Did this for several reasons such as terrain negotitation.) 2) Working on becoming a Master CH. Reasons for that are if I have my pet (and no I don't have some super uber Rancor or sarlacc or anything else of the like. I tame what i encounter and will never buy any pet) I can sic him on my target to get the targets attn to my pet while I run up and commence attacking. This mainly helps against a single foe or maybe 2. My pet gets ones attn while I kill another then help my pet out.

There is however something I would like to see. Maybe the ability to have a special "taunt" maybe to aggrivate the adversary into not being able to attack a round or 2 depending on how "mad" you made them. Another thing that sounds more like a Jedi move is maybe the ability to have your sword/baton be able to block or "absorb" some amount of the ranged shots being fired. Yes I know we are not jedi's but i would say that since most jedi use lightsabres (a sword type) and they can perform these manuevers, why can't we perform maybe a little less or a lot less (depending on how you look at it) effective manuever.

Anyway, thats my 2 cents.
