Thread: The floating sword...
Just for those of you who want to look for it -
Its not an error in the swing of the sword, thats all well and dandy. The error comes when I first initiate an attack, those first few seconds when my character enters his combat stance. The sword kinda...floats out in front of me (sometimes it even turns upside down...) and then floats on back into my hand.
I had a friend test it out, after knowing what to look for he too saw it. It dosen't disturb my gameplay at all, but it really makes the Fencer loose a style point or two, which sucks, becuase the Fencers are all about the style baby.
I hope the Devs fix this.
I've seen it...probably more noticable on taller/larger characters though.
Try not going into sideview and checking yourself out in a fight
that usually solves it
I've seen the animation you are referring to. I've sat and watched it real close to try and see exactly what is happening. At first I was thinking "Oh, great, they couldn't even get that simple animation right". But the more I saw it, I began to envision it differently.
I now think of it as a 1hand melee "flourish". Sort of a way to demonstrate just how skilled Lyah is with her sword. She whips it up out in front of her, quickly flicks her wrist to put a spin on it, pulls her hand back as the weapon flips upside down in mid air, then quickly reaches out and snatches it form the air just as it rights itself, and begins to carve up her opponent like a fat Thanksgiving turkey. I only wish she could spin her body around before catching it again.Hehe. 2handed swordsmen only wish they could pull off our trick. =P
When I think of it that way it's kinda fun, instead of a distraction.
~Lyahpar, the Flourishing Fencer =)
PS: Now that I think about it... it would be cool if we could have a /flourish command that made us wave the sword around in some really slick manner, even if just for show.
yep - I've seen it too.
But I don't notice it with all my weapons, and it only lasts a second. Like the poster said, when going into combat stance the sword just sort of hovers in front of the hand for a sec.
It's still shifting with the movements of your character, so it looks like the location is just translated off by a couple units on that move. But it quickly snaps into place and acts normally after that.
If you are just OCD about it, why not go into combat mode unarmed, then switch to your weapon. This will bypass the bad animation, and give you more time to habitually wash your hands while mumbling about the government's microchip in your dogs tooth ![]()
