Thread: Fencer's attacks ( Future of Fencer )

  • What should be the "basic flavor" of Fencer special attacks?

Redundancy comes to mind atm. Spin attack 2 and blind 2 are near identical. I think the animations sit well with everyone, especially when useing a sword.

Try to tie in your thoughts of what you think a fencer's role should be in groups and in PvP, and see how we can improve on our special moves.

Well, one-hand weapons are generally light and easy swing. I can dig the attacks but my problem is speed. Of course, there's no real comparison or basis for evidence, but in swashbuckling movies about the musketeers (mousquetaires in french) the sword fights suggest that the style is all about lightning fast strikes. So to carry this over to SWG i really think we should be given more speed

I think we should be all about light blows and stabs, something to draw the attention of the opponent then a lunge or slicing combo would be cool. It would suit the name more than just clunking things with a piece of metal.

I mentioned this before, but keep this in mind when you think of new attack ideas. We are fencers, but in the old Jedi lightsaber traditions the Fencer was a duelist who mainly fought other melee devotees. They were fast and agile; their attacks were centered, precise, and most moves could allow for swift movement into a the ready stance. The Jediswordsman's attacks were drawn outfor blockingblaster shots. It was a fair fight for a Swordsman to fight another swordsman, but combat against a fencer was more difficult due to the fencer's quickness and the swordsman's drawn out movements. In intigrating this inot the Fencer profession, the fencer should by no means be as strong as a Swordsman, but they should have a melee vs melee edge. Speed is an important factor which must be utilized.

i guess this is where i should have posted the idea of an attack to increase hams/ wound secondaries.


Poking muscles joints, etc. can immobolize an opponent and cause pain for them to move or attack.

i would like to see spin attack 2 changed from having a chance to blind targets to having a chance to taunt targets this would be benifical to groups also .


as far as flavor i like the way we are now with blind's and dizzy's maybe give us a area afect posture down attack..( not a flat out knock down just like a area affect lunge 1 attack )


or a attack that would give us a bouns to dodge for a limited time after we use the attack , or one that adds more reach to our attacks a special that has a longer attack range when useing the attack .

There are a couple problems, and when looking at the specials, you need to also focus on the lower attacks also.

1-hand body hit 2 isnt even better then 1 hand hit 2, which doesnt amke sense. A novice attack should do up too 400 more dmg. then a skill after it. I think the animations are cool, they dnt really need to be screwed around in.

I think that all fencer special attacks should involve a lot of intricate spins and flips to display the speed and agility of the fencer. Not too much to talk about here.

If it is planned for bleeds to remain as useless as they now are, I'd like to see them replaced by something else... anything else.


Maybe targeted HAM attacks like the TKA's have?

Once again, Raphael in Soul Calibur 2 .


Quick, fancy jabs. Lots of up and down motion. I don't really think of spin moves when it comes to fencing.. you should always face the opponent. However, I doubt that the Devs are going to change EVERYthing, so I just want one move to look like the quick fancy jabs!! One hand hit3 maybe=) That way Master Fencers can show off their fencingness...
