Thread: Why I'm Dropping Fencer as fast as I can
This applies not just to Fencer, but to all Melee classes.
First I would like to say that I have enjoyed my time as a Fencer quite a bit and found it to be a useful class. Yes, I'm a recent Fencer brought on by the Holocron craze. I understand that Melee is weak vs. Ranged in PvP at a range and have no problem with this, I just keep it in mind and never try to run anyone down...if I am in a melee situation though, I'll give it a go with my trusty bent plumbers pipe of power. I have taken 3 TKAs since picking up Fencer, they were by no means masters, but hey neither was I.
So, the one thing I can't take as Melee (even though I think it goes very, very nicely with Rifleman)....instant deathblows. I have never been DBed so much in all my life, doesn't matter if others are with me or I am all alone or I have pets, if I get incapped vs an NPC or creature 90% of the time I get an instant DB before the target of my attack even moves on to attack whatever else is attacking it.
Is this a recent addition to the game AIor have NPCs and such always insta DBed close (i.e. Melee) targets? With the coming destruction of items on death I think I'll go back and hide, naked, with my cheapest rifle and hope one of 10 bugs doesn't kill me.

bah, typical fencer I guess, not much more can be said. If you ever get your pants out from that painful spot in your ass crack I'm sure it'll be better.

Wear armor, I dont know if you do or dont. But Im the tank In my group of friends. (we are anti-pet people) I can stand up to 5 tusken Elite gaurds and 1 king, for about 45 seconds, this is me healing my self (over a min with others healing me), and with my group that is more then enough time to take them all out, Tusken warlords are no problem for me, and im only a 3221 fencer, anywaysif your sure about losing the fencer its cool, but if you need any tips on attacking combos or armor just let us know 
I'm sorry you're offended but you should expect that when you come here admitting you're one of the "Holocron" Fencers and then proceed to put down the class that some of us chose voluntarily. Kali was a little harsh with you,and you were a little harsh with us. But as the saying goes, "two wrongs don't make a right". So again, sorry. Enjoy your next temporary class on your grind to Jedi Powa.
If she had read my post she would have seen that I like the class...maybe I wasn't clear enough, I think it is a generally strong/fun to play class.
My issue is the devs building in a insta death blow for all melee classes.
If she has issues with me going after holocrons, there isn't much I can do. Sorry you can't find any/don't care to follow them.I keep the classes I like and would have kept this class but for that feature. I don't know why so many people are so angry at the players for doing holocron professions, it's what they devs want us to do to "experience the fullness of the game".
I apologize for being a **edit**, I had just come out of a very hostile PvP situation when I read that post and I was extremely volatile.
Nothing wrong with that. For my part, I can say that any resentment I harbor toward the whole Holocron situation is with the whole lack of creativity inherent in the path to becoming a Jedi. I don't have any issues with the players who choose to work within the confines of the idiotic system the devs cooked up.
It is kind of hurtful though to see this community inundated with hoards of people who did not take up this class because they thought it would be neat, but because a Holocron told them to do so. I don't know if you can see where I'm coming from or not; but there you have it. Call it an issue of pride.
As a proud fencer myself, I can easily state the reasons why any of us true fencers would be offended:
1. You generalized the members of our profession into some class that we are not. it is NOT typical fencer behavior to tell people to leave our profession spitefully. And despite saying that you liked the class in your post, perhaps all she saw was the veryharsh nature of your title, it may not have been intended so, but it can very easily be mistaken so.
2. Attacks on our correspondent do not sit well with anyone who has been an avid member of this board. Her request was simply to make things more efficient, there is nothing wrong with that. She never saidto not post on the forum,she said not to repeat an all too familiar thread without having browsed through them. Please do not manipulate the words of another to try and prove a point.
3. Mocking the fact that we consider ourselves a community just isn't cool. We have suffered much through one of the least supported professions in the game, so if we feel somehow connected having shared the same hardships, I am sorry that you find it something to jest over.

I willadmit also, thatmy tolerence for people's "I'm leaving because *I* lack the skills to play a challenging profession" posts is ... well.. nil. And people saying Fencer sucks - because *they* aren't able to play it with any success - is sour grapes, imo.
I don'tcare forpeople ragging on someone (Raph) who has done more for this profession than anyone. Brings out the pit bull in me.

Ivoe: you were only stating your opinion. i don't agree with it. instant DB sucks, but i put up with it, because i rarely die. my two cents, your two cents are worth just as much. no biggie.
Kali: i saw your sarcasm (after our squabbles, i get how you work pretty well, i think). others didn't. they need to lighten up, i don't think you did anything really wrong. if she were really trying to be rude, she would have said in no uncertain terms what she thought of you. i promise. (that was meant to be jokey)
Ivoe: the misinterpretation of Lyahpar's post is ok. but assuming that she's saying don't post, and using that as an attack on our community just doesn't follow. Lyahpar has clarified her intent with that post several times in several places. if you don't know what she was trying to do by now... well, that's just indicative of a lack of invovlement in the community.
we don't expect anyone to be any certain way other than decent. we don't expect anyone to stay forever, and we don't expect anyone to either be, or be told they're right all the time. i'm sorry to see you go, but happy that we're losing an unhappy member. we don't want you here if you're unhappy any more than you want to be here. Kali was probably addressing just that part, and not the part that you as a player is a regretful loss.
than again, i'm wrong more than anyone on these boards so far. but i'm trying. i don't want you to leave with a bad aftertaste for fencers. i think if you read our boards you'll find that (barring misunderstandings) we're not at all like that. we appreciate your time and i (and i'm sure most fencers) apologize for appearing to be anything else.
