I think the balance issues have been discussed more than enough. I have a few thoughts about some design issues.

I like the idea of a master level weapon, associated with a quest. I think the weapon could benefit from some simplicity, however. This idea pulls in elements from everywhere-- rancor teeth, vibro motors, DNA, etc-- from andesign point of view, it just seems like too much going on. I would recommend going with one of these options in addition to the quest-based components.

Maybe some of these ideas should be spread out into more than one weapon. For example, the DNA idea has potential, maybe a different kind of loot rancor tooth thanwe've seen before can be altered to deliver poison or disease usingDNA from a BE and used in weapons thatrequire a sword core. In other MMORPGs, after a couple of years each class sooner or later has more weapon styles than they know what to do with, hopefully thatwill happenhere.

I defnitely think we should not ignore weapons from the EU. The vibroblade is a really just a tool that anyone might posess, although not everyone would know how to fight with one. Therewouldobviously be larger vibro-powered weapons that people would have only used for combat-- we've heardthese ideas before:rapiers, cutlasses, etc.

I do like the idea of the lighfoil and similar concepts that hint at a verybelievable dueling culture that would exist during the time period of SWG-- maybeyouwouldhave to converse with and fight severalNPCsin many different cities toobtain one.

Balance is important, but I think a big draw of MMORPGs is the ability to pick your equipment to completly customize your playing style, and having a wide selection of weapons is a part of it.

I'm not convinced that we need an AP2 weapon at all. Players don't get AR2 armor, and we're not designed to take down turrets and AT-ST's and the such.

thanks for the input and for getting us back on track daigoro. You raise some interesting points, and they are things I will definitely consider in my next draft.
