My first post here. Lets make it a good one. Maybe some of the suggestions will be accomplished before Raphs heart and spirit are crushed by the Dev thugs.

One suggestion I havent seen yet. Dual wield. Even at a higher HAM cost or limit us to a dagger in the second hand, It would be a cool addition.

Other ideas I have had

Disarm. We use our blades to disarm Pistol users.

Chain Bleed with Scatterhit so that we can put bleed on multiple targets or bleed chained with spinattack

Change the terminilogy from /deathblow to /behead :-)

I am a WC also and I make and use my own swords. There needs to be a greater advantage to using swords with Advanced Sword Cores over normal sword cores. Right now its not all that much

just some ideas

Thanks

Welcome Vorrin! Interesting that your first post as the PA Correspondent would be here, but glad to see you all the same.

Thanks for voicing your suggestions for additions to the Fencer Profession. Most of these were included in the "Results of the Fencer Vote" post in one manner of another, but we'd still like to see some of them incorporated.

Let me know if you need any assistance, and welcome to the Correspondent Program. It can be a mixed blessing, but I was fortunate enought to get the best community to work with.

Ok, Im fairly new to Fencer, I went from BH to TK, and now a Fencer...I didnt want to be a class everyone else was.

I have a question, what is the difference between /stick and /follow??? Dont they both do the same thing? It would seem to me that they do.

I would like to see the HAMuseage come down by 15-20%, and I would like to see the speed go from 1.0 to .75 (I would love to see it at .5) but I think we are asking for too much there, that we will never see it. I agree we (and all melee classes) need an effective way of dealing with fleeing npc/players, etc.

We need better 1 handed weapons, or weapons that do AP....A Japanese katana would cut through a knights armor very easily....also our weapons need to be re-evaluated. I have a curved sword that is way better than a Ryyk sword in dmg and speed....sure its sliced, but it beats the Ryyk I bought and sliced by a long shot.

The whole thing with weapons is that there isnt a substantial growth in dmg, speed, HAM costs as you are able to qualify for the certification....Hell I would love to see a sword where we can do dmg like the commando's can with their flamers....Flamerthrowers in this game is a serious joke...but Im digressing.

I also would like to see us get an added +5 or +10 to ranged defense once we got to Novice fencer...we are still getting chewed up way before we can get to the ranged users...half the time I have to pull my carbine out, bleed the target to get them to come to me, and then pull my curved sword and kick butt.

Anyway, thats my 2 credits.

No, although I am sure that Japanese animation is a lot of fun.

A katana is a weapon of draw cutting i.e. one uses it by pulling it over the target. As such, it is an outstanding weapon against flesh and other soft targets. Against a knight's hard armor a katana would do little more than make a delightful "boing" sound. That is if you employed the chopping attack you seem to be imagining. Using a drawing attack would probably make a nice "fingernails on a chalkboard" sound. Perhaps those annoying shrieks would damage an enemy's mind pool.Even if I were wearing chain mail I would not be worried by a blow from a katana.

What is needed to defeat a knight's armor is a piercing weapon, as a precursory examination of the history of the crossbow will show.

Hi everyone,

I started fencer a few months ago, and because of Holo problems (i.e. grinding for ranger) i havent mastered the profession yet. I see a lot of great work and a lot of my questions answered, but one I wonder if we could clear up is range of weapons. I know that TKA have it worst only having two options bare knuckles or vibro, but I would like to see a few more weapon types, some with more damage and more ham, and some for finesse, less damage but greatly reduced ham costs.

Something else I was intent on asking is about parrying. It is a definite part of fencing, and I was wondering if anyone ever thought about working in a bonus to parry other melee weapons and keep dodge for ranged attacks, which seem to be the bane of many a melee fighter.

Also I see different types of damages going around for other classes. I know we have stun, and kinetic, but i was thinking that maybe we could get an electrified sword, or some more piercing weapons. Maybe some stabbing type weapon like a vibro-rapier or something. A cold sword, I dunno maybe filled with liquid nitrogen (sure its gonna be brittle, but maybe they have something to keep it together). Or a poisoned sword that can do acid or poison enemies. Just some thoughts for more types of weapons. I know that most of this stuff is probably impossible to do because of balancing issues but hey I gotta give it a try.

Hi der

I find with being a Fencer, I am a muon gold Addict.....eg, doing rebell missions, I hit the Imp 3-4 times with a style, all my mind is drained, then have to inject the muon, incase i get mind shot. The conclusion is, with all these fancy fencing moves, mostly, you use it bezerk or lots og muon.

Buying a sword in week 2 of playing, then 12 weeks, later, still using the same sword, is a bit boring......

As you say, Fencer isnt a viablePvP profession, coz you mostly run, and run and run and mm just run until you die. Every1 is a pistoler, or ranged of somesort. In DAOC, Im a wizard, we are ranged fighters, we r weak, the Tanks are very strong, wear plate and have lots of HPs.

Happy new year

First wow what a great job. Finally someone who can explain things where even us part time players can understand it. My biggest problem with fencer atm is being hit when i have npc in what i call the "I've fallen but i can't get up" move.

The npcs failing to make a save does the slip fall down routine which is great, but what i don't get is how they still can attack you. To me this is one of our greatest attacks/defenses yet they still are able to get in an attack at full power. If someone can look at this and explain that logic i would be greatful.

the issue of weapon choice and their associated HAM costs seems like my worst problem so far. the curved sword and stun baton burn through my mind pool very quickly, causing meto have to rest my mind after every other fight. especially with my ubese armor on as they inhibit the mind pool from recovering. i got the best rantok i could find and it was not very good. gafi stick and speed powerups so far bring me the best rest results. if there were more choices in the weapon department i would be happy. maybe more different types of swords would be nice, such as cutlas, saber, katana etc.
