I like the idea, but I personally like the bad blood between the two professions...it''s actually quite entertaining.

I think it would be a great idea. It would also take alot of pressure off of Jedi, which are the only players to expereince this facet of the game.

Now I'm sure all of you have watched in dismay at the outright brutality of the Jedi vs Bounty Hunter threads... everyone calling everyone else an exploiter.

What would you guys think if player bounties went in.

Let's say there was a checkbox in the character tab that you could check (like searchable) that would activate a personal Visibility meter...

Where various faction ranks would be checked by a code and let's say for instance you have -5000 Jabba faction you'd be thrown up on the BH terminals.

Would you guys think this would help or hinder the situation?

altho i do not enjoy dying i think it would be really fun to have some one just come up and start attacking...id havta stay on gaurd all the time. i like the whole suspense it would create.

also id only want this AFTER the combat balance. as of right now id get schooled by every one cuz fencer cant do jack in pvp with stun armor and no ap1 weapons.

Ok I thought about this again. The main problem seems to be on the agreement of how people would end up on the BH terminals. Here are a few suggestions. Of course there are ways around these and people will always find a flaw/loophole in the system but just look at the idea as a whole and we can nitpick later.

  1. Player enabled bounties - Give the players the ability to place bounties out of their own pocket. This can be done to anyone. Example #1 Two rival guilds. Player A puts up X credits on the head of Player B. Once the bountyis completed then the money istaken from escrow and put into the hunters account. Payouts are based on the amount the Player has offered.

  2. Faction Bounties have been mentioned. If a player has earned a lot of faction points that means someone of the opposite faction has died somewhere along the lines. Lets say if a player earns X amount of faction points in Y amount of time he has been deemed a threat to the other faction and must be dealt with. The only way to get off the terminals is to be killed or stay undetected for Z period of time. Payouts are based on faction rank and faction points earned to get you on the boards. Loss of Faction will go to the BH that offers the deathblow.

  3. Jedi Bounties -This has been discussed into the ground.

  4. Smuggler Bounties - This might help the smuggler revamp. If they ever implement a smuggler terminal that allows smugglers to "smuggle" contraband for the Hutt faction. If the mission fails the Hutt buts a bounty on you. Payouts are based on the Smugglers Underwrold Tree level.

Just a couple of thoughts to start us off. Please feel free to take away and add to any suggestion.

lol couldnt resist to post again after reading this.

i have a problem with number one...altho it sounds cool in concept id hate to be killed over and over and over again by the same rich guy. people with millions of credits would be dishing out the money to get what ever player they want killed, while the poor man on the side of the road gets beat up every hour on the hour.

It seems like discussion so far really falls under two categories: setting up an in-game automated bounty system for all players similar to the Jedi visibility bounty system, and a purely player versus player bounty system. The latter seems fairly simple to me: any player can make a contract on any other player at any bounty hunter terminal, pure and simple. If you think about it, this would probably reduce the amount of in-game griefing. I mean honestly, I can really only think of two reasons a player would put up funds on another player's head. The first would be a player, having lost a previous PvP encounter, wanting revenge. The second is a player that has personally offended or been otherwise exceptionally annoying. There should be no problem with the first, as the player getting marked is clearly already suited for PvP combat. As for the second reason, allowing player contracts to be taken out on anyone would simply promote a more civil playing atmosphere. Whether it's a cocky noob or a gloating PvP victor, there's no reason to not be polite. If you want to be offensive then expect the possible retaliation of others.

Having said this, I think this system would need to put a measure ofresponsibility on the shoulders of the players pursuing these contracts. It seems to make the most sense to not disclose the identity of the contract originator automatically (in other words, no system message to the mark). If a bounty hunter wishes to inform his mark of who sent him that choice is certainly his. I'm sure many originators would gladly pay increased fees to the bounty hunter for anonymity (this would likely be done on a purely player to player tip basis). If a bounty hunter chooses to do this, however, then he/she would become the likely target of retaliation. Further, accepting payment for nondisclosure and breaking this agreement would likely result in a contract being created on the original bounty hunter. Further, any factional standing that the mark has should modify the bounty hunters factional standings. If the mark has -4000 Jabba standing, then killing him/her should increase the bounty hunter's Jabba faction standing, while a +3000 Nym standing would negatively affect the hunter's Nym faction standing. I have no suggestion for the ratios at this time.

Well, there are my two cents on that issue. I leave the discussion of the automated player bounty system to others for now.
