as for energy comp, would it be better for this profession to have 80%Energy/67%base/high ham or 80%energy/60%base/low HAM?
You can't do anything in composite unless you're buffed because the encumbrance lowers your substats to the point that doing specials uses huge amounts of HAM and they heal like 1 point every 5 seconds. So, HAM doesn't matter, and most people would probably take the 80/67 set.

The stuff I'm using now for PVE is blast/electrical composite, 90% base. It's around 900 ham, which is not bad considering the outstanding protection.
For PvP/geo caves I have a suit of39% stuncomposite with bases in the 81-88 range, with a ham just under 1000 for the full suit. I have a couple extra helms thatI use too.For PVP I mostly use a 41% stun/66% base encumbrance sliced helm, but I also have one that's 41%/84% forgeo cavesor certain circumstances in pvp. I'll probably give in and go all out for a new stun suit soon, with the obvious goal of ~40stun/90 base.

I don't pvp so I just use self-made bone armor enhanced with voritor scales, giving me 50%+ protection vs. energy and kinetic against non armor-piercing weapons. I experiment the armor about 50/50 for damage/encumbrance and it works pretty well. My action regen suffers somewhat, but I generally don't need any mind-enhancing buffs becuase I'm Mon Cal. If you're not playing pvp you don't need much more than bone armor.

For pvp I use a full suit of stun layered armor and an imperial PSG. Now that's what I call protection. I'd say it's the best thing to do with the removal of defense stacking. Most people can hardly budge you, unless someone has a very good jawa rifle, or if you get poisoned ![]()

For pvp i generally wear just a helm, chest, and pants. Most hardcore players only use targetted or scatter attacks, so those 3 are generally enough. The stats are 89% for the standard composite resists, and 33% for stun. (Will probably pick up some uber low encumberance pieces with ok stats for the currently open slots)
For pve, i just buy a few throwaway suits of advanced ubese for grinding.
