Well, they are reworking the combat system and professions will be the last to get attention. I believe the answer will be then.

Definitely, yes.
However, as to the rumors regarding the possible nerf of the melee/ranged defense stacking between professions, they are FALSE.

ARGH WHY can't any of you 'it's a good nerf' people understand what's happening here. Another level of complexity, of choice, and a whole swath of good character templates were just sucked from the face of the planet. This is a horrible nerf, it further damages an already badly-listing game, another hit like this and she's sunk.
Whet they needed to do was balance the skill, either capping or curving (i.e. points above 100 are devalued) would have been good quick fixes. Now that they've nerfed defense how is, say a TK/MasterSwordsman any different in fight from a TK/MasterArtisan? Now it's just damage type and pool focus that matters when picking/mixing templates, no longer do we have to weigh, say, swords/carbines with some knockdown and better COB/general defense or swords/rifles with better all-around defense and both targeting mind.. Swords/Rifles are now better. Period.
Unless they nerf cross-profession ranged/melee damage too... OK, I"m a wookie, so I'm really, really sensitive about defense. It's the only way I can live. But this is more than just my wookie-needs. A game is only a game if there are rules (even if the rule is 'you have to figure out the rules') but if the rules are both undocumented and constantly changing how can we play? Many players spent hours and hours deciphering and documenting skills, then they change these rules with no warning and no announcement. Are we supposed to just plan on doing a few hours of game-mechanics testing every week so we can keep up with changes? Oh, and also so we, their paying customer, can let them know when their patches break skills since it appears little or no testing is done by the devs (witness, for example, how many professions still have broken skills 6 months after launch - if anyone had tested these skills would they have gone out the door broken? well... maybe.) I'm so frustrated with this game...
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Thunderheart, why hast thou forsaken us!

yes, I'm very upset this was nerfed...A friend and I thought up this template one night (fencer/pistoleer) and we were the first on the server, spent all those sp and and all that grind time!
Unfortunatley I'm no longer the "matrix dancer" I was known as
......( I still dodge some but its tons less)
It makes me mad SOE would nerf something that should stack , I mean they both say +dodge in the fencer/pistoleer trees...Why seperate them?

It was reportedly (still not 100% CONFIRMED) as a stealth *fix*.
