In terms of PvP, all melee fighters have no place in a battlefield - they get taken down too fast while trying to catch up to a target. However, strategically they could wait inside a base until members of the opposing faction try to shut down the base.

On the dot, I do believe. Although I find it relatively easy to dodge most incoming gunfire while charging a horde of ranged users (I am a silly lizard sometimes), I do find myself dead before I can reach them and start hacking away at them. But it is obvious that we are more of a defensive type of profession, and I do find that when I'm on a base raid and the commandos are working on the turrets, small groups will try to go around us and come in from behind. Then I promptly kick the living crap out of them And also, once we do get into the base, I'm usually guarding the front door, and anyone who comes in is beaten into the ground swiftly by my area-attackingness. So we're good in Close Quarters Combat (CQC), obviously, so I guess you could say we're more of a lastline of defenseon a wide-open battlefield, and a relatively good one if you ask me.

One thing I'd like to see is people NOT being able to shoot through the ground and rocks and buildings and such...as they are my only cover on those non-CQC battlefields (deserts, plains, mountains, etc.), and sadly do me no good since folks can shoot through them

To tell you the truth, I have never seen a Fencer take on 7-8 PC's(whatever you call it) in mass PVP

Oh, oh, oh!! I have done that before But I can only do it in-doors (unless they are melee or are really stupid ranged users who like to stand right next to me while trying to kill me, basically inviting me to kick their buttockses). This one time when we were doing a base-removal job, 7 Rebel PC's decided to charge into thebase, where I was guarding the front door. I area blinded them, CoB'd, and spin attack 2'd the living crap out of each of them. However, one was a master CM, and got mind disease/poison on me..so I fell incapped after I DB'd only a few of them. Then one lone enemy entered the base, walked over, and DB'd me before I arose from disease incapacitation. But meh, I would have died anyway from triple-incap from that wretched disease.

Just to say my piece, it should be very clear that fencers should have a defensive presence in any sort of grouped combat, be it a small hunting party, or a massive base defense/raid. There needn't be anything really added to help us in that department, save for a little more ranged defense, one-handed toughness, and resists to poison & disease.

All I mean is that we're good already at protecting the ranged attackers, and other support chars of our group, but it wouldn't hurt at all to be better
