Thread: I love fencer, but i think it's doomed. Here's why

If you actually think about it, Fencer and Tk should not be able to take someone who has armor on. We have weak fast weapons. If they have armor, we can wear them down. Tk should be able to block things more, and Fencer should be able to dodge it all. Heavy swords does a huge load of damage? Fine! Let them! They do it slowly, we can dodge it and nail them a few times.Think historicaly people! But that's me. Thanks

now I am far from a FOTM fencer, ive had the same template (master doc/master fencer) for about 6months for 2 reasons.


1. I love it. 2. I cant be arsed to grind again.


Now it is true fencer was never meant to be a heavy damage proffesion, but man are we quick.


Standing toe to toe with a TK swordsman or pike i usually will take them every time.


Now i must admit i do have an arsenal weapons im very very proud of;

458max Stun Baton

600max Gaffi

MindFire Gaffi


Now the head hits are always gonna be a worry but keep up with the warcrys, intimidate and blinds you'll do fine. Along with the obivous lunge and dizzy


The only problem i'm having at the moment is getting kited by a good rifleman, if there on a hill im screwed as take me forever to run up it


Biggest tip i can think of keep moving, so many times i see people jsut standing still busting specials and eventually get worn down( i know, i used to be the same) keep moving run around ur opponent and find a tactic that works for you.


Fencer is always going to be a while to finish someone off but you gotta admit we look cool when we do it.


I've been out of pvp for a few weeks as ive got two houses full of buffs i need to get rid of as dropping crafting line of doc to stack a few more defenses, but im look forward to getting out there again and getting my pvp score up.





Oh yeah one thing i havent heard mentioned, Arent we getting duel wielding along with pistoleer??? Now that hope alone is enough to keep my loyal!!!!!

Without these warcry blind etc etc just dekay the inevitable. once the intim and warcry slips they hit your head again. and repeat. and repeat. and repeat. been fencer since about feb, still love it am not going to change. jumping ship b4 the rebalance would be foolhardy for any proff.

it all depends on the jedi type m8 b4 the last patch u could take on a buffed armoured jedi, unbuffed and unarmoured and win, I haveduelled a few jedis sicne then, mainly master saber/defender types. and beliefe me we cant do squat. its just a race to see how long u can outlast.


still working with a 150 stun and a 290 gaffi. geo cave is always camped and the ironic thing is the profession that needs acklay most cant out damage another melee profession without the acklay. catch **edit**ing 22 so fencer have to have hard hitting selfless friends or loadsa cash. beendown the cave about 10 times now. no luck still.


[just on the maths side of things for pvp in general when working out stun damage with no ap1000 damage hit ->45% synthsteak -> 550 ->50% psg -> 225 -> 50% armour reduction -> 112.50 -> 38% stun reduction -> 69.75 is this correct isnt there another automatic reduction u get in pvp?]


i have swordsman friends who moan that their power hammers are only 6-700 damage without acklay. fair enough


It is hard to blame your tools. however this game is governed by what tools you weild. be it high powered weapons or dots. no wonder dots rule pvp atm. i just sold all mine mind fire n all cus when u can drop a mind fire on sum1 then step away from they keyboard and watch yourself win its kind of sickening.

I agree with the the original poster. The introduction of 45% stun psg's with 40% stun armor has effectively neutralized our one weapon that worked in PvP. On top of that you put a 35% steak and PvP 75% reduction and we can't move people's ham at all. Now I'm not going to come here and say Fencer is worthless....we still can dodge 70-80% of attacks from most professions. However its becoming painfully obvious that there are less noobs out there overt and more experienced players that have the right equipment to counter Stun attacks. Its still fun when I occasionally get some noob thinks he is all that at Master Swords or MTKand I duel him unarmored (although he is fully armored with no stun doh!) and I win in 30 seconds lol.


Fencer IMO has become just another profession Swordsman or Rifleman use to get good defensive mods (mele/ranged def with k/d). TK is the same although I've seen some pretty good TK's lol. If they take that food that gives 25-30+ unarmed damaged with a nice 220 VK, they were moving my HAM a lot better than I was able to move theirs.

No weapons are good against a well prepared PvPer.


My armour is 35% stun with a base of 85%+ on all pieces, then I have 60% PSGs, I can intimidate to remove 50% of the damage, and I dont even need to use synthsteak to remove more damage.


Like you said even god stun batons dont do that much damage, but with gear like mine, even TKAs cant do anything to me, so not doing much damage in PvP goes for all proffesions, not just fencers.


Not doing any damage is a armour issue, and Armour will be changed, that has been confirmed by the Devs.

Before they fixed scatterhit2 I didn't see many of you complaning this much.


I don't even see the TKM complain this much before.


You've gotta consider as a TKM I have to wear 1 million in armor/psg and another 500k wroth of food to "be untouchable" by the fencers.


Professions go and come. Deal with it, honestly. You act like you're so helpless.
