Too many commandos are flamerthrower_01_clones and think the high damage and dot of the FT is expected to win the day. Commandos when they hit do incredible amounts of damage. The devs saw this and made their weapons inaccurate at close and long ranges (medium ideal).


In pvp you should have a stun layered helm AND chestplate. You can throw in the legs but they dont get hit as much and scatterhit is only really for attacking the mind. Even a 1% stun chestplate puts a 50% penalty on the stun baton as its AP0. Throw in some high kinetic resists and fencers beware. Try eating some crispic and your aiming will improve even at close ranges. Suppression fire is nice but fencers have a high defense vs. dizzy and can resist the state fairly easy (its not that great and mostly works on other ranged prof.) If a fencer charges and you have all of this on then dont move or try to run away. We only have a posture down that works every 30sec unless we got master brawler (very few go this route) and get a double posture down which is basically a KD.


If you didn't get a DoT on another melee class after 2 shots then dont bother as you're losing your health when you should be taking theirs with your TK skills. Yeah TK vs. Fencer will probably have the fencer on the winning side unless you took some precautions.


Still want to beat a melee with commando alone? Face away from the melee and run, dont use your FT specials and just lag them to death. At a safe distance you can flame all you want.


BTW, who said commandos are supposed to deal the most damage?


Damn, I'm probably back on some fencers hit lists now.

Fencer, as a class, works as designed. Fencers are best at one-on-one, hand-to-hand combat. Is that what commandos are best at?

Is dodge overpowered? Maybe. Is kiting overpowered? Maybe. Remember, with NO CERTS WHATSOEVER, you can kite a fencer indefinitely, and that fencer can not hurt you. All ranged professions have this advantage over fencer. So fencers do get some powerful things, like dodge, but we also suffer from great disadvantages, like kiting.

As for tactics, why did you use an FSGW5? Those tend to have poor point-blank bonuses. Scouts are better when the enemy is in your face. I've seen scouts with +40 @ 7m and +50 @ point blank. That's a HUGE difference when fighting a fencer.

Also,what is your pistol accuracy? If the fencer was a stacker and you have low accuracy you are not gonna hit him. It really pisses me off when someone gets beat in pvp and they automatically start crying that such and such profession is out of control. And just to let ya know...TK is not useless against a Fencer,I get beat by them alot.

Fencer has very low damage output even with a stun baton unless you have a good Ackley. I rarely ever even do 300 points of damage in pvp. You people need to learn how to play your professions and get yourself some decent equipment before you can come here and cry like a bunch of sissies.

That's the thing with these people,instead of learning tactics and figuring out their opponents weaknesses they want to be able to just spam a few specials and have the guy go down. It doesn't work that way,if it did there would be no point to having so many professions to choose from.

Fencer isn't better than TK...it all depends on the person controlling the character. I do beat alot of TK in pvp,but their are some TKs that beat my a$$ all the time.

and for the idiot who said we shouldn't jump to conclusions because he might be a dabbler...uhh duh..fencer=92 points,do you really think they dont use those 158 other points?

I've said this before and I'll say it again.....Commando = waist of skill points right now. Until the combat rebalance if your looking to be competitive with your Commando skills think again. Fencer is the best PvP profession in the game atm (im not counting CM since I don't count that as fighting). Rifleman is very close behind in PvP and is probably the best profession in the game since they areone of thebest in PvE.


Fencer has the best defenses in the game but against professions like Rifleman or TK we still get hit about 50% of the time (even with using COB). Reason why Commando can't hit us is because the accuracy is so low it makes it impossible to hit Fencer. Combine that with a stun bat over 400 damage and you got instant ownage.


btw I know for a fact how bad a Commando is against a Fencer. I killed a Rebel Master Commando and he never hit me once before I d/b him with my stun bat. Do I think its unfair, yes. But do I think we deserve a nerf, not really (maybe any stun bat over 600 damage do because that is just crazy). What needs to happen is give Commando a chance which at the moment it has none against any Master Fencer using COB.
