Commando's got destroyed with their nerf. They should be the most devestating damage dealers in the game, but it doesn't matter how much damage the FT does if you can't hit your target (how exactly does a giant flame miss someone standing right in front of it anyway). I just picked up fencer because it was the easiest way to counter rifleman in this game and so far I love it. I do have compassion for your cause though. I think that fencer has a higher than necessary damage output in PvP due to the stun damage type. I would hold out hope for the combat rebalance. I have faith that PvP will be less about the FoTM and more about a persons skill.

Just a crazy idea, HE WAS RUNNING TOWARDS U, um arent moving targets harder to hit?

Let this thread die, too many variables to consider. We can do nothing but wait for the combat rebalance.


In regards to stun damage...only a small percentage of people actually have what you would call an Uber Stun Baton, the rest of us carry around the standard.


You really should explore the ways in which to counter our defenses rather than to request a Nerf. We are balanced, one of our moves is bugged at the moment, and yeas it does allow us to bypass Synthsteak and damage mitigation, the Dev team will take care of it.

Yes, i did not know that they nerfed Comando. Now im finding that out.

My main character (as shown in my sig) is a Master Commando/TKM but I also have a Fencer on Bloodfin that I'm working up. The problem that I see is not so much that Fencer is overpowered (perhaps with an Uber Acklay enhanced stun baton vs. non Stun Armor) but it is more that the Commando profession is still broken. I for one believe that ANY profession is beatable, given the proper preparations. I admit, I am not big into PvP, I have no name in PvP, nor do I want a name in PvP. Where I shine is in PvE. The only other template I've seen that can produce as much damage in PvE as the MC/TKM would be a Swordsman. (Watched 2 of these own a Krayt the other day. Anyhow, lets all whine and cry to FIX the other professions, not NERF what works. I've read for months now all of the people crying and complaining in our TK forums for a nerf. STOP IT! Just fix what is broken first.

Your first mistake was trying to flame him while both of you were (most likely) moving around. That makes it a lot harder to hit plus he's got great dodge and CoB. You should have done a dizzy/kd with your tkm and then flamed the crap out of him. It's not that fencers are uber, you just gotta know how to take 'em down. It may not be as easy to figure out as most other combat profs but if you play against them enough you'll start learning the tricks.

you are 100% right. And all the people that keep saying Nerf TKM is nuts..helloooooo Fencers beat us almost 9 out of 10 times! How can u say TKM needs nerfing when Fencer is better than TK? (This is not really slaming Fencer, its slaming the Nerf Yellers) Evan tho i did say Fencer is over powered im not trying to say Nerf i was just seeing if anyone els agrees and it looks like each person has another opinion than each other. Seeing that Comando is really not great and now they are talking about making it that DOT only happens 25% of the time..its not worth the skill points. Im more into PVE than PVP and figure that TKM/PikemanM would be a fun thing to have. Evan tho Pike isent the best i still say it looks Freaking cool.

Why in the world would you go Commando against a Fencer? That's my most important question.


You're taking a profession with relatively low accuracy (commando)against a profession that specializes in defense (fencer). If I had your template I would of went TKM even if the other person had 80% kinetic resists. At least with TKM I'd be hitting the Fencer more often.


Using your template, did you put on intim since you have brawler? Did you slap stun on since you have TKM? Why did you choose to use flamethrower over TKM with over 200 unarmed accuracy? The other guy probably has high kinetic resist armor but you'd probably be hitting more with TKM and doing more damage. Were you using accuracy food? Were you using deadeye? You also mentioned you were wearing 80% kinetic resist armor but fencers also have stun batons. Were you using stun enhanced armor? Did you top it off with a PSG that has high stun defense? What foods/drinks were you using to help aid in your battle?



As for the skill points issue that's not up to fencers in this forum to discuss. If Commandos are being gimped in terms of combat based on the amount of skill points they have to spend then that's a Commando issue. Bounty Hunters have the same problem since they spend so many skill points but that's not a Fencer issue. Of course, I can sympathize with someone who spends that many points in a profession to have a gimped profession but your battle should be in the commando forums.


If you went commando against a rifleman, TKM, pistoleer, swordsman, or carbineer like you did against that Fencer I guarantee you would of ran into the same problems. Commandos have low accuracy with FTs and with everyone wearing buffs and armor FTs aren't what they use to be especially after some of the commando FT changes but again this isn't a Fencer problem.


Finally, are you here to rant or are you actually looking to find out why you lost? If you want to find out why the battle went the way it happenedthen please answer the above questions.

Bleh I hit enter too fast. I forgot to add that TKM would of done WAY more than commando against a fencer but you said it yourself you thought TKMs would do 100% nothing to fencers.


If you took Commando against almost any other combat profession as the ones I listed above including BH and pikeman you would of ran into the same problem. What you're describing isn't a problem exclusive to dealing with fencers.


Commandos need some serious work and FT is probably the most PVP viable tree but even that needs work. FT speed is slow and horridly inaccurate compared to other combat professions accuracy with weapons.


Pertaining to your specific situation Fencers are not out of control but rather the Commandos are severely gimped.


I can't emphasize this enough that if you faced any other combat profession with a person who knows what he or she is doing the situation would of ended up poorly for you if you went commando and kept trying to stick flame with your FT.

stunn is our ONLY good weapon. and people please shut UP about these super powerful stun batons, cause not everyone has them. * maybe 5 out of 20 fencers at time has them* and even with with, yea we are good but HARDLY close to godly.



and COMMANDO need to be nerfed, wth are you talking about, i remeber back before the CH nerf, when a commando could flame you for 2k wounds in 1 shot, ARE you telling me thats fair, but yet you cry when a fencer dodge's most your flame attacks?



But overall most people who PVP dont need to pvp, ill give a EX. Im fighting a TKM. he dosent try to Stunn me at all/Imtimadte me at all. what dose he do KD....kd...kd....kd....kd, While meanwhile me. I stacked dizzy/stun/imtiadate/mind burn/mind posions/blind and Pounding them into the groud, and when he gets up he crys im to powerful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!



People dontuse any of the status effects they have YET they cry nerf fencer? i just dont get it, I JUST dont get it. * please lord strike these people down and stop them from every pvp'ing again. Or put them in a battle with me for 10mill credits to the Victor*

of you guys every see a fencer try to kill someone with a virbo blade? or a gad baton? Even if you stood stil in prone with no secondary buffs it would almost take forever.


But wait till they NERF armor * yes a armor nerf will be comeing soon, and no more 80% kinetic armor* lord there really going to cry then

There's no way that Fencers are overpowered. We don'thit hard. We simply have good defenses. It's a trade off. Most of the "heavy hitters" don't have good defenses. The same goes for Pistoleers. Damage is laughable but they have dodge and defense to state effects. In fact, your opponent was probably capped for Dodge and using CoB. Just be glad they nerfed defense stacking or he'd probably have over +200 to Dodge and you wouldn't have had a prayer in the world.
