Anyone else realize that if you have a "acid" sword, that eventually the ACID would eat through the actual blade? heh just a thought, oh and as far as the electric sword goes, the stun baton's stun damage is supposed to cover that also.

I do alot of PvP and dueling, and i have to say that i dont really see this terrible dizzy/lunge nerf effecting me too much. As long as i land a successful dizzy on an opponent i follow it through with lunge, and 95% of the time its effective against players. Now against NPCs the success rate seems a little worse, but still a good 70%.

Riko, that might be the case if the blade were made of metal (assuming that ALL metal on ALL planets in ALL galaxies behaves the same) - but what if it were made of diamond, or an idestructable glass ? I try not to get 'too' scientific because it's just impossible to speculate on thephysical properties of elements in other worlds.

Your success rates are 70% against NPCs? What level are you? I get nowhere near that much. I used to do pretty well in PvP prior to the nerf... but I actually haven't even tried it post nerf because I was bummed about all the special power-ups/macros etc that I had for PvP.

Maybe I should give it a go....

On the toolbar above the space where you write the text the eight icon over that looks like a little dialogue bubble will quote the entier text of the message. Just edit to what you want to respond to.

I would like to see another damage type for our weapon selection as well as another ap weap. The stun baton is fantastic and don't really think it should change much. However I was fighting in the Night-sister dungeon on Dath and every mob in the cave was 100% stun resist and 100% kinetic not to mention ar med. So as a master fencer and the tank of the group I was left with no options. Acid doesn't seem to be a logical answer, I would think either heat, cold or most likely energy somehow. I am sure this is a concern for all melee classes and hope they address this in teh comming combat patch.

On the Lunge-dizzy combo. I have great success with it in pvp. For those that find it ineffective make sure you dizzy first. If you succesfully lunge then miss the dizzy you have wasted the combo. If you dizzy then miss the lunge you can still do it again. In PvE dizzy is not lasting long enough to work well. I find that dizzy is lasting exactly 5 seconds so you have to kill VERY quickly to use it. As for our power in PvP we are obvioulsy outmatched against ranged classes. I do hold my own and win the majority of my fights against other melee classes though. It usually comes down to who gets the first dizzy lunge in or dizzy kd. My defence mods do work sometimes and I get lots of comments about how tough it is to knock me down. They may not work as intended but they must be doing something. Though I have never dodged and attack =/

Well sorry for the essay I guess I had some things to say =) Heres hoping for a new corrospandant and some loving for the fencer =)

Cheers, Spal

Thanks Spal,

I also like the idea of more variation with damage type like cold/heat/energy. I'm sure too, that there is a way to make this "work" in the context of SWG.

Thanks too with the PvP info- I'll have to start dueling again... I guess it isn't as abysmal as I thought, based on my horrible experience with NPC.

to the guy who started this thread yes i gave it some thought but have no idea who to send in a suggestion to also to the guy that was saying its not eq in space . In one of the star wars books there are guys who use blast sabre or blast foils caint rember the exact name but its a rapier that fire a blaster bolt along the blade when they stab some one with it .that would fit nicely into the suggestion the starter of this thread was talking about and fit with the star wars histroy . It could be a sword that does engery damage also we could get a thremal blade ( they have thermal scaples now and in the star wars universe) this could be a sword that does heat damage . I havent read any thing in any of the books about acid swords so i would have to agree that would be pushing it a little bit. I also think we should get a vibro sword there in the books to there a sword version of the vibro blade this could be a nice new weapon for us to with better damage then the vibro blade . I think any of the new weapons and there certs should be novic fencer cert only as we have good enuff weapons to do us till then .

just my thoughts what do you guys think

We may not be jedis, but let us use the one-handed lightsaber even at a reduced damage out put.

Could people give quotes of their Stun Baton stats? The best I have found on Bria did 121 damage max unsliced (speed got sliced to 2.8 or so) and it is hard to find any more. I really agree that the weaponsmiths aren't making them like other weapons - guns have come quite a long way since launch in terms of their stats due to the experimentation and better materials. If they tried a few times but only came away with terrible damage, they may have figured not even the few fencers there arewould buy them so they stopped. There are good weaponsmiths on the server, I know, Curved swords with max unsliced damage of 175, and speed 2.2 for instance, so they are making melee weapons.

Also if anyone could point me to a smith that makes stuns on Bria that would be good

I get stun batons with an average of 85-90 min and 120-125 max damge and 2.2 speed of of several vendors on ahazi. I do have a little trouble finding good Gaffi's though. The best thing to do when you just cant find a baton shop is to ask a friendly master smith what resources are needed and what qualities are most important, and go bazaar shopping. You can also harvest your own small supply of these materials. Then simply ask the smith when and where you can meet up and make a fair deal to have them made. For example: Gaffi core needs metal with high unit toughness. Bought some steel off the bazaar with 997 UT. The baton itself needs iron with high shock resistance. Harder to find, but after a galaxy search on the bazaar i found some 940 SR iron. Asked a neighborhood smith if he would make them for a 1000 credits each and within a few minutes i was taking them to the noisy slicer in front of the starport. Now I have a few gaffi's over 280 max damage.

If any melee class would get to use lightsabers it would be the Swordsman (not the Fencers) since they hold their weapons the way Jedis would hold a lightsaber. (with two hands rather than with the left arm held in front while the right hand holds the weapon)

Stun batons need a bit of improvement. With their damage profile, Ifeel thatthey really should be AP1. My single biggest problem with stun batonis that I feel like I cannot use it for special attacks very much because it has a disproportionately high mind cost. That has to change to make this weapon anything but a special situation weapon. I also think it should administer a stun at least sometimes. I already suggested that earlier in the thread.

Stun is a great damage type. I would hesitate to ask for other exotic damage types that are the province of commandos and bounty hunters at the moment. I dofeel that a higher damage AP1 weapon ought to be available as a weapon certification at master or near the top of the skill tree. Maybe something similar to a Rantok.

I have two hopes for future weapons:

That our new weapons look and sound formidable (not a stick ordagger please)

That one of our weapons is AR2 and/or another does a different type of dmg like heat (wouldn't a flaming sword or be awesome?)

If we got one of these wishes I would be very happy.
