Umm, no, the patch said:

The minimum HAM penalty range on option weapon components has been reduced to zero. Therefore it is technically possible to experiment away all of the penalties.

Pretty badly written but all it says is that optional components can built in such a way that they won't give HAM penalties when fitted. Scopes and stocks are optional components. Not sure if any melee weapons have optional components.

Guys, you're better off with a higher DPS weapon, and doing styles half as much, than a lower DPS PoS where you spam styles.....................................................

To the guy saying that the Adv Vibro Unit is worthless: maybe you should leave your shop and go out and kill a few things for some perspective. A lot of the times you kill just using auto attack.

Nagorak if what you said was true than the ryyk would be our best weapon. In all most everyones eyes its not the wise choice. It does the most damage and can even have dps higher than curves and vibros. The fact is that it comes down to personal choice.The vibro blade is the choice of those that like to use specials because of it ham and speed. The advanced component trades dps for HAM taking away part of the advantage of the vibro over the curve. Never the less some people do prefer its higher damage just as some prefer the lower HAM its about preference no one stat is better than the other except in the owners eyes.

Not terribly impressive by Radiant standards, at least. I'm already making 35-136/2.5 vibro blades using the regular vibro unit... and the HAM costs on mine are 16/28/16.

Can't really compare with one using the adv. unit though... they're still resource gated over here. (Weapons being resource gated on a server that's only had two resource shifts? No way!)

unless we get a lot better desh copper your not going to see ham costs get down much lower on advanced ones

everything is subjective from server to server, we don't have the same resources, but 9 more ham costs over base ones is not much of a penalty

Merchant on Starsider made me a Adv Vibro blade, ham costs? what ham costs? its virtually non existant, seriously after using an FWG5 + specials, Vibro-Knucklers + specials and even a Rykk + specials but anyhow i really like the adv over the non adv. the damage without slice was like 40 - 145 damage he mentioned he used Platinite copper (btw thanks alot merchant ^_^) the cost was a little bit much (well nothing too insane) and i had madea bunch of money and Merchant is really a good weaponsmith and nice guy so i paid without a second thought. and i have to tell you its right on par with my suped up Curved sword (also by Mr. Merchant) after slicing it (i'm also a master smuggler) the adv vibro did 60 - 170ish (as in it was 170 something i forgot last digit) and with the 25% bonus for being armor pierce 1 vs non armored targets it works so very nicely. i do 800 damage with 1handhit1 which is just fine vs my 900 damage i do with the curved (which does 93- 212 damage). so i do have to say while i do miss my katana looking sword a bit i really like the look of the vibro. it just seems very "in role" to be a smuggler who is knife fighting ^_^. I'm so loving 1 hand melee over pistol using. so much that i'm not gonna do pistoleer except for novice (just for the DX2 cert) but i'm definatly going for Master Fencer.

which should i get there is a shop that has both a vibro and a curved (unsliced) here are the specs:

i know that by the numbers the curved seems better (i dont mind HAM costs they are both lower that my current Gaderiffi baton thingy) but the vibro has armor piercing would that make it more worth it than the curved? also if i got it sliced for dmg how much would it go up?

Buy both, use the vibro for special spam, use the curved for real damage.

i only have 7k i am poor sadly "both" is not an option for me

Well, what do you need more, a fast weapon to spam stuff like Lunge and Dizzy, or a faster weapon for Beserk or occaisionally use of high damage specials?

a little of tboth but more of the dmg one i have decided on the curved btw what should i slice it for?

also can i get a melee weapon power-up for it and slice it?
