Thread: Reason for being Fencer is being removed with CU

as it stands in the TC people are getting owned by Meatlumps who are at the same level...there have been reports of Chubas taking players out...so taking on a NS Elder solo will probably not be possible.

Lots of opinions out there. Too bad most of them are based on existing knowledge. SWG CU is going to be an entirely new game. New bonuses in certian combat trees, for example. It MAY not be too far fetched to think that thereCOULD be bonuses in brawler/1h weapons that would be be applicable in Swordsman. But thats ONLY AN IDEA.

A true Fencer isn't defensive... They are fast and agile and inflict as much damage as possible as quickly as possible and move on. The thing I am going to enjoy is that Fencer's are going to have the ONLY Bleed specials in the entire game.

At Novice Level, Of Course not... It's meant to TEST the New Player, Intermediate, and Elite Player aspects of the game. Thus why they don't plan on dropping blue frogs until extensive Novice testing has been completed. I also think they have made the experiene modifier so low... That it's impossible to advance to Intermediate or Elite by normal means of grind before they get to that phase of testing. They are however, Planning on tweaking the Experience system because of this. I am going to love this CU, I miss the good Old days of running from SP's for fear of being killed by a Butterfly or a meatlump. I just gotta figure out what to do with -5000 Corsec when I land in Coronet as a Noob again

I see where you (Rimy)are coming from with the 3k HAM changes that are on the table; it will be very interesting to see how the developers go about that.


When I say stackers, I mean as we currently have it...I for one will not change my template any. I am a Master Smuggler/Master Fencer no real defense, but that's who my character is...I may take the two lines of pistols plus the extr 15 points from medic and add them elsewhere...but i'm not overly concerned with having "the" template you know.

My issue is that either way I will have to respec to accomodate my play style, defense (what I think is fun). I understand that they will eventually allow you to do this with the CU free of grinding. But what am I going to do with the 35 million credits worth of fencer weapons I will no longer be able to use if I wish to continue to play a defensive play style? I have a 500+Gaffi and stunner both with ADK, countless CA's/ AA's and clothing. I am going to get hosed and there is no way I intend to grind enough credits to re-invest. I am not happy about having to change professions but I can deal with that, losing the ability to utilize the weapons that took me a year to acquire just sucks.

one of my favorite memories was of a hunt on dath where our party of 5was jumped by a rancor all died except myself and a guildmate. we were discussing running as we were next in lineto the cloner when out of the blue 2 surefoot braks jumped the rancor and saved our measly lives. Of course this was ages ago when good armor was hard to come by as well as buffs. But it was some of the most exciting gameplay i ever had.


I look forward to danger and teamwork unlike now where i purposfully aggro 5 rancor on myself at once with no fear in the least.

i think you all will be glad to know that you can master tka/fencer...and swords after cu and have 4 skill points left yes that is right add up the skill points on tc5 =^)

The 3k Health Issue.....


It seems from my testing that a single combat master will provide the 3k max health. I beilive that you get bonus based on a tiered skill structure. For example:


The skill Brawler 1000 and Marksman 1000 get the same health bonus, but they DO NOT STACK.


You'll have the same health at Master Marksman as Master brawler, because they are the same, low lvl combat profession masters, so they grant the same non stacking bonus.


So that a Master Marksman has the same HAM as a MMarksmen / MBrawler.


Thats what i've found from testing. This leads to the conclusion that a single combat mastery will grant the full HAM, and doulble masters will increase defense / skills etc but not ham.

I've heard to get 3K health you have to do Elite Mastery+Elite Mastery+Dabble=3000 Health

as soon as you master your first elite profession you get 3k health. thats a fact
