Thread: Need fencer weapons with armor piercing?
I think it would also be cool if Doctors could craft poison that we could dip our swords in.
But to get back to the original topic, yeah I think that we need more armor piercing weapons. Even if they just gave gaffi sticks ap1 I would be happy with it.
ya really u are a fincer u would find a hole in there armor and push to hit a vital spot i think u should get the AmorPiercing

Ok, tell me what you think of this idea:
(Hypothetically) "If" the devs were to simply make up their mind that Armor Piercing is the realm of the 2handers and that Fencer weapons are just too light to "cleave" their way through armor, then perhaps we might be able to persue another avenue.
The real "ability" in a long, thin, razor-sharp blade is not to hack through layers of protective covering, but rather to find and exploit the little nooks, crannies, joints, and weakness in that armor... thereby negating its effectiveness.
I propose a new AP level, "AP(-1)". (That's Armor Piercing "negative" 1.) An AP(-1) weapon doesn't get bonuses ragardless of the AR of the opponent. I know... how is that different than our current AP0 weapons? An AP(-1) weapon also doesn't suffer an any penalties regardless of the AR of the opponent either. In fact, it completely ignores any protective value of the armor at all. So whether the target had AR0 with no resists, or AP3 with 90% resists, they would both be treated as having no armor at all. A weapon with AP(-1) is basically treated as though it were vulnerability damage to any armor.
I know that doesn't actually enhance the real damage of the weapon, but it does enhance the impact the damage has:
Versus an AR0 target, those AP2 2handers would do more damage than we would... just as they do now.
Versus an AR1 target, 2handers still get an advantage... but not quite as much as they have now.
Versus an AR2 target, an AP(-1) weapon would do the same damage as an AP2 weapon since they would both be consdiered to be attacking equal levels of armor. In fact, the AP(-1) weapon might have a bit of an advantage by not suffering reduction fomr the resists.
Versus an AR3 target, an AP2 2hander begins to feel the penalties of the higher armor rating (suffering an immediate 50% loss), and the resists after that. However, to the AP(-1) weapon the target still has no armor, which allows the weapon to do full damage... outdamaging the hulking AP2 weapon.
That brings a bit of abalance without being copycats fo the Swordsmen. They win out damage-wise vs AR0 and AR1. We potentially tie vs AR2, with us having an advantage if the target had decent resists. We win out vs AR3 targets, especially if the resists are high.
Perhaps AP(-1) could be placed on some of the new weapons we've requested (Rapier, Epee, etc.)
Anyhow... just an idea. What do you think?

Alternatively... we could be given a passive (no macro needed to activate) ability to have this effect with any weapon. Perhaps it begins with only a small change (2-5%?)at Novice Brawler, working it's way up to a moderate change (20-30%?) at Novice Fencer, and finally peeking (80-90% chance?) at Master Fencer. (Possibly adding another 5-10% for Mastering Brawler.)
I could see it working either way, but making it a skillthat only works with one-handed weapons let's us keep our favorite weapon while still being effective.

Reminds me of hollow weapons from AC, but thats another story.
