Thank you everyone for your support! I truly appreciate it.
As to whether I'm making this a personal quest? Well, yes, yes I am. It's my personal quest to get this profession FIXED...but that doesn't mean I'm single minded about my particular vision for the class...
I first read about SWG nearly 3 years ago and was so excited that I started by making a few posts in the original forums and later found myself purchasing and playing EverQuest just for practice! Except for an appreciation of Lord of the Rings, I'm not particularly fascinated by Fantasy so I could never get "hooked" enough on EQ to progress much beyond a level 15 magician. My little brother still loves, Everquest and he plays on my account whenever he can. But ever since Episode V came out when I was about 5, the Star Wars mythos has been a part of my soul. Being a level 99 whatever in Norrath means almost nothing to me, just having the opportunity to walk into the Mos Eisley Cantina? ...THAT's something. Actually getting a chance to roleplay a HERO in the Star Wars Galaxy? Now THAT is fun. ![]()
On Thursday June 26, 2003 I began installing SWG and was excited to read: "Experience the greatest Star Wars Saga ever told -- Yours." My initial plans were to make myself as Han Solo-like as possible, so I started with Artisan and quickly got Marksman, planning to work my way up to Smuggler. Realizing that I needed bone and hide to craft Bone Armor I also picked up Scout... Unfortunately, as I neared reaching Ranged Support IV (it took me quite a while, mind you, because I was trying to grind away as an Artisan) I realized that I couldn't be a Smuggler AND an Elite Crafter so something in my plan would have to change. I looked through the trees and realized that I was already well on my way to Squad Leader and although /volleyfire was the only skill that looked good from a distance, I was very much interested in the concept as I saw the potential to realize my ultimate goal: To be a Star Wars Hero. I had initially discounted Squad Leader because I figured everyone and their brother would want to be a Squad Leader and I wanted to be more "unique" than that. Well... Live and learn, eh?
But all along the way my goal to feel like a "hero" has always remained. Once I started getting really frustrated with my character's lack of abilities I thought that I might be able to realize my goal by actively participating on the forums. Perhaps some idea or suggestion that I made might get incorporated into the game and then I would have the accomplishment of knowing that I contributed something to the whole game! So, moving forward as Correspondent, I want to reassure everyone that my personal agenda--to be an active part in making Star Wars Galaxies a better game--is basically realized as long as THIS community will support me. I have no intention of pushing my vision or ideal ahead of anyone else, but if you ever do feal pushed aside by me...PLEASE contact me personally and leave the drama off the boards (unless I've outright ignored you, then I can't very well stop you, can I?). We have serious work to accomplish here: We have what SHOULD be the best profession (or at least one of the best professions) in the game but sadly isn't even close. We have the job of righting that grevious wrong.
