That's true. However, I also friendly duelled a Pistoleer/Bh in Bestine. It was close - not too close - but I beat him too. And he was on the move as well.

(Follow + Burst Run + CoB) x Dodge. It's a great combination.

Brawler brawler brawler!

Right now, there's no other class that better compliments Fencer. Warcry2 stop them from shooting you, if they start to run, lunge2 then dizzy2. Do what you want from there they're pretty much dead. A good mix of TKA and Pistoleer (dodge line) with CoB will keep you alive more than long enough. PersonallyI love it when ranged classes duel me up close, they never get more than 12m away

Don't know if anyone said this, but you could warcry (until it sticks),then lunge, then dizzy. Dizzy usually last's more than 10 secs and you freeze them in place if their kneeling with warcry. It's a pretty good method, I use it any time I'm within 15m of a ranged opponent ....I also have +25 extra accuracy so that helps the lunge stick

I use a weapon changeup macro for unarmedKnockdown1, since I was using TKA meditative line anyway for powerboost and force of will I went ahead and got the box for knockdown1,and just have a macro set to unequip my sword, knock the hell out of them, then equip my sword again, then uses dizzy and I can spam whatever else I want to do while they're flopping around like a fish out of water

dont use shift+f8 cause it will slow you down if you hold shift (unless you have it bound to a different key). Bind it so all you have to do is press f8 and put all ranged attacks in the "shift+F8" bar. good luck.

A few things I do/use for kiting ranged fighters:

Burst Run - This has already been suggested more than once, but it's an invaluable tool. Use it wisely as it takes quite some time to replenish but it is a great tool indeed. The key to it being successful is not to start the burst run from too far away (40m) as they will have time to realize you are burst running and be able to initiate their own in turn keeping you from gaining distance.

/follow - I seen this in someone's macro but it's a very valuable asset. I have an attack command that is a simple macro:/follow; /attack which I bound to CTRL+J which is right by the regular attack hot key for CTRL+K which is just /attack. Once you're set on follow, you can focus on your strategy of specials rather than trying to deal with keeping up with the arrow keys or mouse moving around.

Geometry - Use builders and structures to your advantage. If it's PvP then the player is trying to kill you too. Try and draw them into your territory using buildings to break line of site and hallways and such to narrow down your fighting area. If you're a melee profession, choose your fights wisely. If you engage a ranged profession at 60m in a big open field, you deserve to die.

Mounts - A lot of people forget about their ridable pets. Using the /follow tactics described, you have plenty of time to whip out a pet, jump on it, /follow them and jump off when you're close. If you're using /follow, you will dismount the pet and continue following pretty easily. I've used this method many of times. If they start shooting at the pet, then you've successfully drawn their fire from you so it's a win win situation and it buys you time to gain some distance.

Lunges - Novice brawler lunges have a 15m ranged and 1 level of posture change (down) which with a dizzy can cause a knockdown. Master brawler lunges are 20m and 2 levels of posture change (down).

warcry will be worthless after this next patch.

Is Master brawler worth keeping just for the 20m kd and 20 sec intimidate?

How does one avoid a flamethrower? I figured CoB at master fencer was enough ... but I caught two flames in the face ... one for 1.8k one for 2.3k from the same guy ...

I was down faster than I knew what was going on. And when pvp'ing what weapon do you guys use? Stun Baton? because of armor?

Nope I will be dropping Master Browler after next patch and getting a few ranks in CH... I have tons of pets some level 19 with armor..(Did MBE for some time) Will use mounts to close range and not be kited and the lack of scout really hurt movement.

if you start within range just dizzy blind(optional) intim2(optional), 1hlunge1, 1hhit3 (repeat as needed)

if you start outside of normal range, 1hlunge2, dizzy (if they haven't gotten up yet then you're set, if they did then 1hlunge1)

i prefer using vibroblades to apply states and use specials because of their low ham cost. then when you have them nicely on their back and struggling, switch to etierh a gaffy (if they're unarmored or have low kinetic resists) or your stun baton.

oh and of course, enjoy warcry2 while you still can.

along with what everyone is saying, you may want to complement your melee, with a good ranged. I chose carbineer and love it, i have a posture down attack that bleeds and a ranged KD. I catch up to them 99% of the time, or at least get in range for a lunge, the its easy from there, just take the advise that everyone else so nicely laid out. I see your a master doc, but i am buffed all most all the time, im not a master doc, buffs are so easy to get now, i just dont worry about those points. hell...i get hit so little, i dont even have medic, and i have not lost a duel in awhile...just a thought.......
