Thread: Tried to PvP, got owned, Need Help
Ok, I’ve now made Master Fencer. I’m also Master Doc.
-All Health and Action Stats are minimized (they get buffed) and Mind Stats are all around 1000.
-Have a very good set of Adv Composite
-Damage Sliced Gaffi, Stun, Vibro, etc. (primarily use Gaffi)
I’ve never really PvP’d since I started playing, but I’d like to do more of it. But I was taking on a Carbineer last night and I basically just ran around chasing him, getting shot, knocked down, dizzied, then I died. I think I hit him once.
/hangs head in shame
So basically I got kited to death. That’s fine, but is that going to happen everytime I take on a ranged profession? Should I skip those fights altogether?
I’m looking for some general PvP strategy ideas whether you’re fighting Melee or Ranged. Need help from some of my fellow Blademasters.
Thanks!
eashi, running already makes ranged fighters much less accurate, there's a very significant difference, especially for riflemen.
As for 'a way to catch up', you seem to be under the wrong impression that a melee fighter should stand a chance against a ranged fighter that is not in his range. How can you possibly justify a melee ability to get in range without seriously decreasing our advantage at point blank? The reason we're devastating at point blank against someone using a gun is because at range we don't stand a chance. If you want us to be able to catch a kiter, you'll have to sacrifice the advantage that we get to balance our previous inability to catch them. I don't know about yuo, but that is something I'm personally not willing to forego. If I wanted to stand a chance at a distance, I would have bought a gun.
Two little tactics make things easier - I am a Master Fencer/Pistoleer.
/1 Put your target on 'Follow' and then 'Burst Run'. It gets you to them quick and keeps you on them.
/2 Centre of Balance. Put CoB in your toolbar and SPAM IT. They cannot hit you, I swear it. Pick your specials carefully and sparingly, and use your HAM costs for CoB
I just PvP'd a TKA/Heavy Swordsman in Dark City on Lok an hour ago. What I did, you can do.
If you are in the middle of a field, you are pretty much SOL unless you can burst run to them and keep close.
I find that most of the time in city fights, all you need to do is put something in between the two of you and kill the LOS. This gives you the advantage and it puts the ball in their court.
1) They can't shoot you and you can use that time to try to weave your way closer.
2)You automatically know they are trying to get you in their sight.. so either run, get some friends, or dip into a cantina or something.
Anyways, most people don't run, they try to blast you thinking that if they stand still it helps their accuracy. It might help the accuracy, but it won't let them win the duel when we close in on em
