Heard a few places (rumormill only, but maybe it'll happen) that DOT weapons will get the same 75% PVP damage reduction as normal damage in the future. If that's the case, fotm will change again. Lol, only time will tell. Kind of the beauty of a mmorpg, "gameplay subject to change."
No thats what people fantasize about and making rumors about for a very long time now. There are too many reasons not to add a 75% reduction and more reasons to add more curative skills.
Pistoleers got a DE-10. Where's the darn fencer version of that? It would be perfectly fine by me if we had to farm krayts, SBD, or "insert_npc_01_here" to get a necessary component to make it.

in theory, fencing is supposed to be light and fast which is perfect in pvp,pve is difficult without a high AP and damage output, plus a decent attack we can contribute to groups of swords/riflemen

Personally I've never had any problems fighting PvE. Granted I don't go after rancors, SBD's or Krayts but in general I find that with a buff, brandy and air cakes, COB (+37% to dodge), I can fight most things with no armour. Running missions on Endor with no armour was pretty cool when I first did it.
I grinded with a gaffi stick and when I hit MF, I had some extra money from my tailoring business and bought myself every fencer weapon (rykk, curved sword, vibroblade and I already had a stun baton for those hight kinetic resists MOB's). I spent about 10-15k on each weapon. So with just my fencer defenses I'm able to run missions on any planet unarmoured. Works nicely too since with stats about 1500 there is no HAM cost for using weapons so you can special attack spam all you want.
I've only done limited PvP and I'm about 50/50. Was hunting Rebels in Anchorhead one night and another night forgot I was overt and got schooled by an acklay stun baton (my compo isn't stun protected). Missions on Endor net me 11-15k so it's good money.

Master Fencer
Master Pistoleer
Scout 4000
Brawler 4400
Com Prow 3400
Enh Ref 4000
Mark 0404
Grinding quest system atm and agree with everyone here, I havent met a mission terminal lair/spawn I didnt own as a Mstr Fencer. Dark side savages were just silly the other day & rancors are boring now...LOL!!!
Im heading to the vette tonite and will reply back on how well I tanked...Im going to pull the geo out on the pistol side and see how the stacked mst fencer def mods help. That AP handicap stinks and agreed and hope to see changes too with the coming revamp.
I am a new fencer and just starting to experiment with PVP...mostin-game fencerstold me that fencer stacked is a fun and often successful way to PVP. Bought the first acklay so find out soon enough...heheh!!!
Im beginning to see that one must commit to one handed or pistoling when stacking these two profs...the trend seems to be keep the pistoleer def skill mods, run master fencer with TKM for obvious (dizzy, kd) dmg reasons?
Is this assumption correct for optimizing the potential of the master fencer???
Thanks for reading/replying to this post!!!

Hello
I'm a master TK master Pikeman and working on my master Fencer. I love Fencer i dodge almost everything.. I have dueled alot of fellow friends that are also melee proffesion and we seem to be at draw. Well with out using dot weapons that is. What i was wanting to know are the dot that important in pvp that u cant win with out them? If so then the outcome of the battle depends on how many credits you have for a good dot weapon or by some chance you looted it yourself. That seems to take away from pvp it is not about the skills and how well you know you charactor and his ability's. It 's about who has the best DOT. Well that is how i feel about it anyways.
p.s. just reread what I wrote seems to be off the topic.. sorry i'm not tring to hijack your thread my feelings on the subject just seemed to poor out.

Wow..I can't believe I'm reading that Fencers are weak in PVE.
I am a Master Fencer with all the defense boxes in TK granted , but in no way am I weak. I have been a TKM, and yes the damage output is higher. I have no problem with most mobs in game. Granted Sword, TK, and Pike have their place, but maybe you guys just are not sure how to use Fencer?

Thats the main problem I have read many threads on forums such as the swordsman forums where people with swords/doc have problems killing Krayts etc. My alt had no problems with this template granted NPC's use specials now but knowing your prof inside out is the key to excelling at it.

"... maybe you guys just are not sure how to use Fencer?"
Yeah, I remember I was able to kill those roaming force sensitives with Med AP 80% with a bloody vibroblade.
I also killed few NSs and MSc's with that bloody vibroblade too. (Yep they used some Force Lightning on me too.)
Granted now all the bleeding specials stink, but even then you all should be able to kill many things. Ok ... let me give you a hint,
"YOU HAVE TO USE SPECIALS OTHER THAN ONEARMEDHIT3"
There you go.

Say whatever you like I guess, but I don't think you all read the posts above if you're saying that fencer is strongin PVE. We said that fencer does fine against anything that you can get from a mission terminal. I'll even agree that a fencer can do well against nightsisters - I can tank all day against an elder with fencer defenses. But, fencer breaks down in places like the corvette and the death watch bunker where the highest mobs in the game are. It seems that SOE made the attackaccuracy on the highest level mobs in the game on a sliding scale so that things such as SBD's never miss. If you've been, you would be able see that fencer isn't extremely useful. It's not that we die, it's that we don't do any better whatsoever than other profs that deal more damage. We dodge against 95% of MOBs in the game, making us very useful tanks so that others can do damage. But, if we get hit the exact same number of times as the swordsmen next to us and they do 10 times the damage we do, then there really isn't much point in us as fencers even showing up for raiding the death watch bunker.

I did read the posts above as for the DWB and Vette there are lots of combat profs that are left out in the cold in those places. Yes we do have survivability and I have walked out of the vette with buffs intact where the rest of the group had died. We don't have the large damage output yes but things like the places you mentioned are for group play. In a group we do make excellent tanks which allows profs with poor defences such as commandos to be really useful even with their DOT nerf. The CR will hopefully show more easily how the profs are meant to complement each other.
