We only use 1 hand, right?

What happens to the other hand?

There is a reason only Fencers and TKA get Combat Equilibrium.. we use our other hand to balance ourselves. Pikemen and Swordsmen don't get the mod because they have to use more of their body to swing their enormous weapons.

Actually guys,

Small sheilds were used with rapier, along with dagger, another rapier, cloaks, and lanterns. Mostly the second item *was* used for defense, so it could easily be incorporated into the game.

Please don't get the very stylized 'game' (ie form is everything) of fencing confused with the very lethal use of rapier. : )

Actually guys, Seena is correct. What youare calling "true fencing" began in medival times.A small cloak (quarter cloak, for blocking/grappling your opponents weapon), dagger, small shield (called a buckler) and other items were used in the off hand for dueling purposes. If you passed on the extra off hand item, chances are you were dead. The hand up and behind the back was brought about later (along with the point system) and was used for the more refined nobility, who would usually die in an actual fight.

Your second hand is used for balance in true fencing. But this is SWG, not 17th century europe. Give us a riot shield or something for heaven's sakes.

Logically a two handed sword should do more damage than a one handed sword. There are other ways of balancing classes. Seeing as how they aren't going to give us spells, defense seems like the next best thing.
