Fencer defenses are not going anywhere. Fencers where meant to have a strong advantage in a one on one fight wittling there opponent away with accurate fast weak precision hits. They where not meant to be the tanks of the game. Pikeman however in the original dev design where. That is why come combat rebalance Pikeman will be the true melee tanks focusing on taking dmg from multiple opponents while helping with crowd control. Fencers will continue to have strong defenses but only against single opponents and not as true tanks.
