Best hammer is not the pre-curb hammers. At least in my opinion.

Master Swordsman who have x4x4 can use one handed fencer weapons more efficiently than Master fencers (pretty much no matter what despite template combination), so its really not a big deal if PHs aren't the best melee weapons out there.
