Thread: The only strategy that seems to work. From a Blademasters experiances
If you are just worried about them kiting you to death, and its not some Uber creature, (and you are not into the whole, Yeah, i attack it with my Rancor tactic) i have found this is a guarenteed way to get your licks in on the thing: Get a gun. Any gun. Shoot the thing. This makes it very very angry for some reason and it thinks, "Well if he has a gun, he cannot not hurt me as much if i get really close".So then is what happens 100% guarenteed (unless they have a blaster or can spit stuff, then it is NOT guarenteed, but likely none the less) is the creature will charge at you and attempt to dismember your body horribly. At this point, most players holding the gun would start to run like Death itself was in pursuit (which technically it is....), but We folks with our trusty swords, we dont have this issue. So just switch weapons before they get to ya, and vwalla. Melee ranged creatures (often without drawing the whole mob down on you by charging the Lair)
(disclaimer: using this technique on large creatures is not necessarily recommended, and may result in incapitation, rash, heart burn, dismemberment, and in severe cases, death. Consult your Con meter before seeing if this technique is right for you.)
Sethin did you have a hackzored dragon wing in dungeon siege >=)
Yeah i remember the good days of 3 rancors charging at storm troopers, I especially liked the rancors occasional knockdown.. too bad it takes a circus now-a-days to kill anything
I don't believe it was mentioned in this thread..but I know many of us don't want to have to rely on Pikachu to be effective in PvE. I've heard/read tons of nightmare stories about Fencers (Novice through Master) getting mauled by white cons...this is ridiculous! However, I will concede that in order to be effective we must be one of three things: a master CH, a master Doc (which I'm working towards) or a master pistoleer. In my estimation, each and every class should be able to function in it's chosen capacity when devoted entirely to his/her field. Right now, melee simply cannot without one of the three aforementioned classes to accentuate them. Thank God they've realized the problems and are working on fixes =)
