Thread: Dual Wielding..1 or 2 hand?
Double our defences, when we duel wield, take a third off our accuracy, double our speed, keep damage the same.
Either way, if you train using a sword in both hands they are both one handed weapons, and neither one or the other are more powerful (unless you have a dominant hand, which should be counted out of the duel wield equation), and they are both still in one hand. The damage should not be increased, we should just hit twice as often, it achieves the same end.
Yay for duel wielding! Get us some **edit** scabbards too!
You need only do a search. All sorts of daggers were used.

funny eikre.. the last post on our board (2H concerning dual wield) actually suggested just that... combining the two professions.
Its clear to me that noneof the **edit** meleeprofessions (non tka) were really thought out in any detail.
If I were to create such professions in a game would solicite both historians and.. active fencers, swordsman and martial artists to design the entire dynamic.
Q said "never bring a knife to a gun fight" YET... they made TKM powerful because in one novel (one of the battleson dantooine).. TKM killed Jedi. But that means Darth Maul was a wus (polearms) and the swinging ofswords andblade/s (Light Sabres) had little to do with Star Wars.
So... ok.. swords aren't Light Sabres but its pretty obvious that the hard core Star Wars fans picked wielded meleewith hopes of.. not being a jedi necessarily but feeling that they were in tune withStarwarsiness (as the devs call it).

there are some things you guyz need to understand. The term Fencer in SWG is a VERY loose frame of referennce to a one handed fighting style useing melee weapons. It is not by anny means the defining name of the class. Because they used swodsma throughout the 2handed and seeing the confusion of the masses when we have our novice or apperntice tags on it is clea to see wy they chose something like Fencer for a name. It i easily identifiable across the world as a pimarily one handed fighting style with some exceptions being duel wield.
Now that being said thee are many cases throughout history where the art of duekl wielding was employed fo both offense and for defense. It is traditionaly though that the off hand is almost exclusivley a smaller weapon for the extra Defense AND Offense. The quickness of the smaller blade in the off hand allowed for more parry and block but also more advantagous quick strikes also since te main focus of attacks came from the pime hand still. There are cases of parryig daggers were it was only defense really but then there are some cases were it was an equally large blade tat was used for full out assault.
I have mentioned on these boads a few times tat we need to dismiss the conception that we are Fencers. Fencer is but the name given to our class to help distinguish us from the 2handers, We can be Swordman, Kensai, Fencers, Samurai, or anything we chose to call ourselves and yes Samurai fits cause the Katana was a hand and a half sword or more commonly a **edit** sword tats why the curved sword is in both one and two handed proffessions.
As o if we should or shouldnt duel wield and if we do what should we get from it... 1handers only never a 2hander.... to most accurate we should only get at master Fencer and then get maybe a double modifer.... over curret stat we get a +50% to defense and a +50% to offense. so we get more offense and more defense to more accuratly fil the roll of the MOST common use of duel wielding.
I'll just chime in to support the general consensus: A two-handed weapon, by definition, required two hands to use effectively. This would leave zero additional hands free to wield another weapon.

Well, if any of you are familiar with fencing, you can't use 2 foils at one time. If the decision would be made to change to dual weilding, the profession title of fencer wouldn't fit, and would probably have to be changed.
Foils are not weapons. Fencing WITH foils is not combat. No way. No how.
Rapiers were duel wielded. Along with, as I have stated before, daggers, cloaks, small sheilds (bucklers), and lanterns.
i'd just like to say i dont wanna see dual wielding period.... if we get it the pistoleers will whine up a storm till they get dual pistols....
and we arent to worest off combat class.... pikemen are
Hmm. I think..,..
I think that perhaps the best situation here, would be to probablyl make a new hybrid class of us. After all.... there aren't that many hybrids classes to melee, anyway. And most have to do with TK.
(Commando, Smuggler)
Personally, I think that since there ARE some dedicated and achieved (Masters) of melee combat, I think a hybrid profession would be accurate. That is, mastery of Fencer and Swordsman would open it up as a entirely NEW combat class, dual wielding. It's the same as Bounty Hunter takes a ton of skill points, so should this.
And for the pistoleer? Sure, let them use two pistols. I don't see why not. Let them attack faster, but be a LOT less accurate than normal (only makes sense, they're not using a second stabilizing hand). How to implement that, I'm not sure. But also, since they're not as accurate, probably lower the possible damage they could deal (that is, not hitting critical spots would do that)
*gets shot* ouch! You son-of-a-baz nitch! You grazed my arm! ![]()
Ahem. So anyway. If they were to make a new dual wielder melee class, what would be some good suggested names? I for one, think Swashbuckler would be most excellent. After all, aren't pirates and such often seen with a larger sword, and then a dagger or knife for defense (or extra offense?) ![]()
Look out jack, that thug is packin a mean lantern...
hey Dual wield has my full support, but not for two handed goons. Because well, lets face it, the name said it all, but fencers being the joke we are, could sure use fom flare. Hell, we NEED something to draw some water...even if it requires our animations to undergo a massive facelift, and our specail animations to get reworked.
Is it me, of is this a lost cause because of the obvious work involved the Devs clearly aren't willing to put forth unto us while there is atleast one large update due in a week and vehicles after that...not to mention the fact pistoleers DIRELY need holsters...(little joke there)
