Fencer Archive
Thread: Just sent in my first report, here is a copy for you all.
1. Attack on/off stutter, the movement stutter when starting or stopping attack mode, is this going to be removed? If so how long, if not why?
Some confirmation one way or another on this is paramount to most Fencers.
2. Defense Mod's soft cap or no?
Is there a soft cap where more defense modifiers stacked won't do any good? If so what is it set for?
3. Attacking while running, the out of range message seemsto bereally just a statement of the fact that you are moving and the positioningcode is a couple seconds behind your attack Que, which might be hard to fix. Reason why ranged aren't effected by this is because there is a much greater margin for lag with a range of 64 as opposed to 4.
Is there a fix for this?
4. Damage mitigation, for a class that should be parryingalot of the attacks on us we sure don't do it often.
Maybe the answer is in the possible soft cap, but only the answer to number 5 will be able to show fact vs perception.
5. Overall damage dealing and soaking ability.Server combat statisticsrequest.
Can you shine some light on how much damage we are dealing as opposed to other classes. Maybe with some hard numbers we can see if we're stacking up to other melee's and ranged.
Personal Desire: More visible sword choices, perhaps the customization step during weapon crafting, Metallic color tint, handle tint, if possible blade shape, or ornate patterns for the blades.

In time, all in due time. I'm sure if someone with an artistic bent wanted to render up some sword 3D graphics and post them up to get them an idea of what you are looking for it would help.
But I'd note that that sort of follows suit with my final note of the report.

Interesting point. I work with Maya 5 at the school Im currently going to and I go into Animation in 3d next month. I have animation experience Rigging and Animating now. Maybe for my final porject next month, i'll try to animate some rigs doing a couple new fencing moves. It would be fun as well and not so useless. I'll keep you guys updated.

Hmm maybe not offhand weapons right now...
But shields - why not? They do not seem hard to implement ( of course for me ![]()
But I guess if they added new flourishes - why not that? ![]()
As for new variations on swords, some real obvious ones come to mind:
Foil; Rapier; Sabre; Epee
For offhand weapons:
Main Gauche; Parring dagger
Of course, I could see Vibro versions of any of the above being useful. /wink
I say a fencer gets a nice wepon deflection move. Or something along those lines, where the next persons moves dmg is either reduced or the attack is tottally misses.

Hi lorildeh! Just wanted to point out(in case the devs magically see your statement and try to implement it, ya rite)that not all fencers hold their rear hand in the air while fencing. I fenced epee for a while in high school and college, and pretty much all epee fencers that I saw let their rear arm hang behind them (cause it feels more natural). Seems more likely that the arm would be up in faster paced fencing with foils or sabres, though. Anyway, just burnin time at work ![]()
why does the model show the character holding theoff hand out infront of him.
we all know fencers hold the offhand up in the air behind them, with a slight bow to the legs. ![]()
I... HATE... that... on / off... studder..
