I personally love to heal my own states as well as have high defenses. I have had many different professions complain about not being able to hit me. When some other melee profession tries to dizzy/lunge me, I always heal my dizzy. It has saved my but and irrated their's.

I started off as a medic/doctor last July. Valcyn was a day or so old then. I worked my way up to Doc the hard way: wound fixing. I picked up some pistoleer for a while. I ran a resource business for a while. Finally, I toyed with brawler and wound up on the fencer tree. To my astonishment, fencer actually outdamaged pistol. Sad, but true. I've been doing Fencer since October.

It's been great fun. There's nothing like taking a brandy buff and wearing chiton armor, and STILL being competative in PvE. You can't do the big paying missions that way, but dang, your overhead is way low. And you never fear poison.

If you are a Doc primarily, and want to run combat, Fencer is a great mix. Dodge helps you to survive, and the quick weapon time mean that delays to med-user are minimal.

0004 tka Master Fencer, 4340 Doc.

I've found the best thing to keep yourself moving in pvp is the ability to buff yourself. 90 Med Use buffs are plenty for someone who can heal their whole health bar in one heal.

My template was 4003 Tka 0340 Doc and Master fencer. That template allows for powerboost/forceofwill but I was finding powerboost is too much of a pain in the ass to maintain and usually when I used force of will I was done anyway. There were a few one on one situations where Force of will saved me, but the trade off is now I can cure poison, fire, and disease for everyone in the group.

I keep saying this, but people don't believe it. Fencer is a support profession. It blends beautifully with Doctor as you are able to stay alive due to dodge.

I think that a doc/fencer is the player that will last longest in a battle. The only problem he will have is a kiting rifleman who does nothing but spam headshot. Of course I like to keep warcry and parwan cake hotkeyed.

If I come up against a kiting rifleman, just spam warcry until you can catch up to him.

Personally while CMs were still quite a problem I found Master Fencer, Pistoleer 0040, Doctor 3040 to be more effective than Doctor 4030, allowing me to use Cure Poison C's. Since CMs aren't around as much anymore, I use it basically to cure states. Disease was never as direct a problem in PVP as poison, so I sacrificed the ability to cure it for a much higher range of poison cure strength.

I have a macro which runs through all the state cures, poison cures and fire blanket, hotkeyed to Ctrl-Z, and I tap that as soon as I notice a state on me. It's hard to keep a state on me, and my stand/cure dizzy macro is fairly reliable.

I started as a Master Fencer/TK4304/Pistoleer 0040/Master Brawler, and I have been contemplating returning to that template. DOTs, whether CM or otherwise, were the main things that were able to hurt me with that. I miss having a 20m knockdown with my fencer weapon!

I became a Fencer in February of 2003 and started PVPing soon after. Half the fencers I know dropped the profession when Scatter Shiak was fixed, and probably 75% of those are re-grinding it now because they realized their mistake

Personally I'm happy to put Fencer into whatever profession I do.

if u got diseased u'd be f'ed and on my server there are poison cure c's for med use 80 and they have just under 500 str, CMs are no prboelm and i can cure disease, so i think 4030 is much better...

*shrug* As I said, disease has never honestly been a serious issue in PVP from my perspective. Diseases tick slowly and generally do very little damage. That may be different on your server, but most of the time I died to a CM it was because of poison and headshots rather than disease.

I switched from Doc 4030 to Doc 3040 after finding it was taking me several uses of my Janta blood cure B's (around 500 power, like the ones you mentioned) to cure the poisons of the most prominent CMs. With 3040 I was able to use Janta blood cure C's (around 700 to 800 power). Now that area poison cures have been introduced, with Med Use 90 I am able to use Area Poison Cure B's, which cannot be experimented down to allow you to use with at Doc 4030.

Also, I usually PVP with at least one Master Doctor nearby, which generally allows me to receive a disease cure if it's absolutely necessary. As anyone who PVPed before the CM patch knows, just having a Doctor in your party was never enough to counter even one CM with area poisons, but after the patch they are much more effective.

currently master fencer and 4440 doc

before i went fencer someone told me that their purpose was to outlast, not outdamage. I think the ability to heal state/fire/poison/disease really magnifies that. and being able to buff yourself is just nice. i stocked up on some crates of decent buff packs and at 4440 doc with clothing and bivoli i can buff for 2165 to all stats for 3 hours. for me it's more than enough, if i want a little extra for some reason i can head over to a city with a "medical center" rating and the buffs get somewhere in the mid 2300's.

i don't pvp much, but just from starport duels there are a couple of drawbacks to this set-up. low damage output is one of them. even with a good stun baton if you're fighting someone who knows what they're doing (especially if they're melee as well) with their armor/psg's/foods it's difficult to harm them much. damage output drops even lower when you spend most of your time healing the states off yourself. eventually the shuttle comes, you end the duel, and you've gone 5 minutes where the only result is you burning through a bunch of dizzy and blind packs and niether of you has scratched the other.
